The town of La Veta is about 20 minutes down the highway, and has lots of shopping, restaurants, as well as the best golf course in Southern Colorado.
Known for abundant wildlife, the area is great for leisurely hikes or mountain drives through the pine and aspen forests. Fishing and boating are available year round at Monument lake, North lake, and Lathrop State Park. Blue Lake and Bear Lake are about 5 miles from the home, and are considered two of the most pristine alpine lakes in the Sangre De Cristo mountains. About Brian Risley
We are a Colorado Springs family who loves the outdoors. We enjoy hiking, boating, skiing, sledding and building snowmen. Our jobs keep us tied to the city, but the beauty of mountains has always called to us.
Brian Risley purchased this lodge in 2013
Why Brian Risley chose Cuchara
Our family has always been drawn to the peace, serenity, and natural splendor that is the Cuchara Valley. Few places in Colorado can boast such diverse wildlife, spectacular geology, and pristine forests. So, of course, our home takes advantage of all theses things.
