About this property

Beautiful Lodge for groups/families, short walk from Douglas Lake.

This property is located on 17 beautiful wooded acres next to Douglas Lake, near Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Knoxville, TN. The Mountain Lake Retreat also has other rentals including a lodge/hotel with 16 rooms which sleeps up to 64 and our gym has 4 upstairs bedrooms which sleep a total 18 people which is perfect for any extra guests.

The Log Cabin Lodge has 8 rooms that sleep up to 64 total guests. It is perfect for youth groups, church events & retreats and family reunions (IF MOSTLY YOUNGER FOLKS). I do not recommend it for average families who have several elderly folks among their group. The rooms are rustic with 2 sets of twin bunk beds in the lofts and on the main floor there is a queen size bed and another set of twin bunks. The sleeping areas are not roomy and bright like the Main Lodge which is motel style. It is located away from the hustle and bustle of town and it is less than 400 yards from the lake. Due to it's remote location, it offers guests the opportunity to go for walks, fishing, swimming, bird watching, etc. The Log Cabin Lodge has a large front porch where people can relax, read a book or just enjoy the quiet beauty of nature. Inside each room there is a heating and air unit that is adjustable by room, a ceiling fan, 1 full bathroom, 1 queen size bed and 1 twin size bunk bed on the lower level, and 2 bunk beds in the loft area. This setup allows for up to 8 people per room.

There is a fellowship hall that can seat up to 100 people. It also has a men's and women's bathroom. There is a large outdoor grassy area for playing games, etc. In addition, there is a large kitchen for the group to cook all of their meals. The kitchen includes 2 stoves, 2 ovens, 2 refrigerators, 1 large triple sink, and a serving table. This is not a commercial kitchen.
This is an alcohol-free and smoke free facility.

Beautiful, But Need For Improvement
The property is beautiful and in a wonderful location, but maintenance and cleanliness needs to be improved. No one met us when we arrived, the office was closed during office hours. My son found someone to find out the password to use the internet. When we did talk to the management, they were polite and listened as we explained our concerns.

Great Lodge
Great Lodge, perfect for weekend getaways with friends. Lake is right there with a beautiful mountain view. Everyone in the area was incredibly friendly. Right next to plenty of attractions. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a relatively cheap place to stay for a short while.

The place is very well located.
The place is perfect to enjoy in a group. The facilities are very well thought out. The only problem we had was the cold air in the chapel, otherwise everything was perfect, I recommend it, I'm thinking of booking 4 more times for the new year

Family Thanksgiving Reunion
Great set up for our purpose. Note that all of the bedrooms open to the outside so you have to walk outside to get to the main hall/area and kitchen. Each BR has its own BA.

About the host

Hosted by Betty

Host profile image
Tom and Betty Munson arrived in Tennessee back in 1985 from Clearwater Florida. They were looking for a quiet scenic place to offer R&R to churches and others who needed a home away from home. They raised three sons, Tim, Daniel and David and through the years have made many friends as folks found their way to the "Ranch". It grew from the little farm that it was, to a retreat center as volunteers and benefactors helped to build facilities now enjoyed by many churches and families. In 2013 tragedy struck when David, the youngest, was killed on his motorcycle at age 27. David had so much to do with the ranch that the daily memories are both comforting and heart wrenching but we know we'll see him again because he knew Jesus and we look forward to that day. Tim has a home at the ranch and helps to maintain it as well as run our water plant where we provide "Hydrate" hi pH Alkaline Ionized water. Daniel also lives at the ranch and splits his time there and the Morristown Citizen Tribune Newspaper where he is a videographer. Our goal is to provide a quiet place whether for one or for 100, to get away, reflect, unwind and experience the peace and joy of our Lord Jesus.

Why they chose this property

East Tennessee has always been a favorite place for so many reasons. We asked the Lord to lead us to the place of His choice and Mountain Lake Ranch, named because of the surroundings, became that place. We did not have a dime and there are many miracles associated with our landing here, but we were looking for a place with water - thus Douglas Lake, even though we do not have water frontage, the next best thing is water access. Little did we know that we also had a wonderful water source on our property that would one day lead us to building a water plant, just up the hill from the ranch.
We also love this location because it is quiet and country, but only minutes from all the fun stuff of Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Dollywood and so much more, and of course the National Park!

What makes this property unique

The greatest part of Mountain Lake Ranch and why we are so blessed to have found it, is it's country setting just minutes away from all the action. Guests can wear themselves out downtown, hiking, tubing, riding, playing on rides, enjoying all the attractions of the area, but when night comes, we have a wonderful, quiet, peaceful setting to come home to, and just minutes away.
Our facilities are ideal for youth groups, family groups and reunions etc. The fellowship halls are adequate for up to 50 or 60 and you do your own meals so no one tells you what your schedule must be.
