Step back in time! This 445 year old house stands in the very heart of Mala Strana, the oldest and most sophisticated quarter of Prague. PLEASE NOTE -this is a family house so is unsuitable for party groups.

The building and the area are carefully controlled by the Department of Historic Buildings. Gaslit and winding streets lead you to the house, built in 1570 (a few years from what is believed to be the date of Shakespeare's birth!). From the pretty cobbled street, through the ancient door, up three flights of steps, you enter the apartment. Parquet floors, original beamed ceilings and fairy tale views of Charles Bridge, the City Spires and the River Vltava all contribute to the air of history and romance. The comfortable and tasteful furnishings, sympathetic restoration and cross ventilation, the two well separated bedrooms each adjoining another room which then leads to a central hallway all ensure good space & privacy. The well equipped modernised kitchen and full bathroom with laundry facilities, all combine to guarantee a very pleasant stay. Moreover, the superb location and great views makes this one of the most memorable places to stay in Prague.

This apartment is on the third (top) floor of the house. Please note: No lift. Tastefully & comfortably furnished with wonderful views of the Charles Bridge, the River Vltava and the City Spires.

FREE ADSL broadband connection on desk, should you decide to bring your laptop. Also free wi-fi throughout.

Satellite television with approximately 20 English language channels.

DVD player and a selection of DVD films are available in the apartment.

Telephone on which you can receive although not make international calls. Useful for making free local calls.

Very Good collection of Prague guide books, maps & attraction leaflets.

Owner's local tips and personal recommendation of restaurants

A location that could not be bettered - 100 metres from Charles Bridge but in a quiet street. The main bedroom and the dining room have postcard views of the bridge and the river, while across the central hallway the second bedroom and living room overlook the delightful street and small green square. The apartment is beautifully furnished and equipped and there are scores of restaurants within walking distance. The owner provides lots of excellent info and recommendations on transport, eating out, things to do and see etc. We loved it!

Even more outstanding than on the photos!!

  • 5 of 5

We often rent apartments when we travel abroad, and this is the best place we have ever had. The apartment is spacious, well-equipped, charming, cozy, quiet and clean. Furthermore, it has got the most fantastic location just a few steps from the Charles Bridge. The apartment is only 10-15 min walk from the Old Town Square and the distance to the Castle is even shorter. It is located in the heart of the wonderful Mala Strana, which is "the green part" of Prague with many beautiful gardens and parcs. You can easily walk to all the major sights and during our five days, we were in no need for public transportation or taxis. And despite this wonderful location, close to everything you need, the apartment is in a quiet street and the traffic of tourist is not heavy.

We loved everything about the apartment. The 444-year-old building is incredibly charming and you also get a lot of this atmosphere inside the apartment. But the place is also renovated and modern. The kitchen and bathroom are new and of perfect size. The bedrooms are also comfortable and because of each adjacent room you have good privacy.

The real treat of the apartment is of course the view! The dining room and one of the bedrooms offer outstanding views on the Charles Bridge, the river Vltava and Staré Mesto. We were lucky to experience Prague covered in snow on sunny days, and we spent hours enjoying the views and the changing lights. The sunrise was amazing and the bridge and Staré Mesto by night was breathtaking!!

The place is also highly recommendable because of the host. Clare is amazing! The best host we ever had. Before and during our arrival she always responded quickly on email and gave us all the information we needed. She also took care of our transportation to and from the airport and met us at the apartment in a very friendly and welcoming way. She left us maps and lots of guidebooks, as well as recommendations for concerts, walking tours and nice places to eat. Especially the restaurant tips were very helpful. We also recommend the walk to Petrin!

At our departure Clare and Tony also came to check us out and to make sure that the taxi arrived at the appointed time.

We highly recommend this apartment (but maybe we shouldn't if the place is booked for our next stay!) Stop looking for other apartments. You won't get a better place to stay! Thank you very much for taking so good care of us, Clare and Tony!

All the best - and Happy New Year! Thomas, Torben and Mette (DK)

A pleasure to return to this lovely apartment.

  • 5 of 5

I have had the pleasure of staying in Clare's lovely apartment in Mala Strana three times over the past 5 years (solo, with family, and with a colleague) and look forward to my next stay. The apartment is spacious and provides maximum privacy for two sets of guests. The customer service is exceptional - all inquiries are responded to promptly and Clare is always available to assist during your stay. Her restaurant recommendations and other suggestions for things to do while in Prague are very helpful. I highly recommend Café de Paris for a lovely vegetarian meal and enjoy the coffee at Kaficko just down the street. The apartment is always in spotless condition and everything is well-maintained. Truly a home away from home.

Lovely 2 b/rm apartment in superb location

  • 5 of 5

I went to Prague with my wife and 2 daughters earlier this month. We had a great time in Prague and our trip was made all the more enjoyable due to the comfort of the apartment and its fantastic location. It is bright, well ventilated, with a well appointed kitchen, 2 b/r, 1 bathroom and superbly located a few short meters from the foot of Charles Bridge which is one of the top attractions in Prague. A short walk to most other attractions and sights of Prague meant that we never needed to use a cab. You could not ask for a better stay! The owner - Clare - is extremely helpful in terms of settling you down in the apartment as well as helping with other logistics like the transport to and fro from the airport/train station as well as very useful tips on what to do and how to go about with it around town. One important note of caution : The apartment is on the 4th floor (the way we count in SIngapore) or Ground + 3rd floor and does not have an elevator. So if you are traveling with very heavy luggage or with someone who is not able to climb a few floors, then this place is not for you.

Great apartment - Comfortable, Quiet, Convenient!

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I spent a week in the apartment at the end of November. It's location is great ... very close to the Charles Bridge. Several good restaurants were within a few minutes walking distance. The castle area was very close .. just a short walk to the tram and then two stops up the hill. The apartment is very large ... 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. Everything was clean. One bedroom is larger than the other with a large wardrobe. The larger bedroom has the view of the Charles bridge. The beds come with a duvet. No top sheet which seems odd to us from the USA, but you get used to it quickly. The bathroom was a nice size which included a shower/tub and a washer and dryer as well. We did use them and they worked fine. The towels we were initially given we very rough. Not sure if they were washed with too much soap or air-dried, but once we W&D'd them, they were fine. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and worked fine. The tv in the living room comes equipped with a lot of English language channels and there is a supply of books (both travel and fiction) and DVD's in the office if you want to relax. Since we stayed in the winter the street noise was minimal so I can't really comment on that. The view of the Charles bridge is beautiful! The only things I would note for people (which I'm sure has already been mentioned), is the apartment is on the 3rd floor with no elevator so dealing with the luggage is a pain. Of course, this was disclosed before but it's good to know if you have mobility issues. And the bedrooms only have a curtain, not a door. However, i do believe at least one side of the apartment had a glass door so technically you could close that I guess. The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the apartment which does help though. It's a really great setup for a family or friends.

Clare was extremely responsive to any emails that I sent her. She was there when we arrived to check-in and was very friendly and thorough in telling us about the apartment and things to do close-by, places to eat, etc. She arranged for a taxi to and from the airport and those worked perfectly.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her place to any friends I had traveling to Prague. The extra details she provides really helped make the trip worry-free.

Absolutely perfect and full of character!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, daughter and I had a wonderful week staying in this beautiful apartment in Prague. The apartment has everything that is needed plus is very comfortable, quiet and full of character. The position of the apartment is also perfect as it is in the quieter area of Prague but is close (walking distance) to all the main attractions and has several restaurants, shops and a great wine bar just steps away. After a full day of sightseeing every day we felt we were returning to a home away from home and could sit and look at the amazing view out the window of the river, the bridge and all the people strolling across it.

We have stayed in many apartments in Europe over the years in cities and country areas and felt that this apartment was the best city apartment we have stayed in as it ticked all the boxes - comfort, cleanliness, quietness, spacious and represented the character of the area as it has been sensitively renovated and furnished. My adult daughter also appreciated having a separate bedroom and decent sized bed as many apartments that advertise 2 bedrooms often have a much smaller bed in the second bedroom. There was also plenty of space to store suitcases/baggage for the 3 of us and cupboards to hang clothes.

We also appreciated the assistance and information that Clare offered before and during our stay. It was great to have a taxi pick-up on arrival and Clare also organized a car and driver to take us to Dresden at the end of our stay. It was so helpful having a proper hand over on arrival with Clare explaining where everything was and how things worked. Also giving us an idea of where things were in relation to the apartment. It made us feel at-home straight away!

Thank you again Clare for all your help and making your beautiful apartment available for people to stay in when they visit the amazing city of Prague.

Mala Strana, the oldest quarter of Prague is located beneath the Castle. As can be seen on the location map here next to these details, this apartment truly is superbly centrally located in the heart of the Mala Strana, overlooking the river and the Charles Bridge (Karluv Most). Note the parks and green spaces in this part of the city. The steps onto Charles Bridge are just at the end of the street. Crossing the Bridge, you immediately enter the Old Town at the other side. Historic buildings, places of interest, delightful parks and the finest dining are right outside the door of the apartment house. Tram and metro are very nearby but you will so easily walk to all the major sites that you are unlikely to need them
