With amazing views of The Cascade Mountains, Multnomah falls, Mist falls and the Columbia river, this home is very rare and very special. Secluded, private, peaceful, and close to all the beauty and recreation the Columbia River Gorge has to offer!
WHAT A VIEW!
A sprawling view of the Gorge is laid out before you. From every window there is a view of Multnomah falls, the Cascade mountains, and the Columbia river.
This apartment is the downstairs level of the house, which includes 2 private bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a family room with Kitchenette (some describe it as a 'Mother-in-law quarters'). Access to the level is through the main entrance on the main floor. We live upstairs in the house, and access is similar to what you would encounter with a BnB or guest quarters. We do allow guests to use the main floor laundry room, And on some occasions have allowed access to our rec room, and the main floor kitchen as well.
Located in a small community of about 20 homes nestled between Washington's scenic route 14 and the Columbia River. This area of the Gorge is considered to be the most beautiful, yet is still fairly close to the Portland/Vancouver metropolitan areas. This relatively overlooked area, known to the locals as 'The sunny side of the Gorge', is quickly becoming the most desirable due to its location, views, recreational facilities, and the fact that it is South-facing which increases the amount of sun and length of the days,This community is peculiar in the fact that it even exists here in the Scenic area. It would not be allowed to be built today!
The Portland airport (PDX) is only 25 minutes away.
Got tired of looking and looking for the perfect property. One that had that special 'I could live here the rest of my life' property. I decided to start in the one place I loved the most... the Scenic Columbia River Gorge.
Michael LaVoie purchased this apartment in 2011
The view! of course the view.
It's very ZEN here... Watching waterfalls, The river, the mountains, the misty clouds, the trees, the birds, the barges, and when the evening falls, the slow constant stream of glowing headlights traveling along the highway on the other side of the river is hypnotizing.
We had a memorable experience at this beautiful home. The Owners were wonderful and the location was amazing. We were able to see the Multnamah Falls from the home, saw a momma Osprey and her baby in a tree, watched hummingbirds buzzing back and forth to a feeder and had the experience of watching Cedar Waxwings catch bugs in flight all from the comfort of the deck. The little town of Camas (nearby) had excellent boutiques and a bar/lounge that made cocktails the "old fashioned" way - by hand. The home is also close to Mt. St Helens for a day excursion and picnic and the Portland airport is only 25 minutes away. All in all a great weekend enhanced by caring and considerate Owners.
This was a great place to stay. Our GPS took us down a seemingly desolate road at the end of our trip. My husband was getting nervous that it was taking us to the wrong place. But we ventured through two majestic lion pillars and up a very steep driveway (to heaven, as my husband said) and there was a very lovely home. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The apt unit is accessed thru their home and is very lovely. High end matresses on beds and a view that includes osprey and hummingbirds. A large watefall can be seen across the gorge. Very clean and comfortable. We were staying just one quick night to attend a wedding but would come back to stay longer so we could take advantage of the hiking trails.
We really enjoyed our stay. The rental apartment was spacious, clean, comfortable and modern. Michael and Nikki, the owners/hosts who live upstairs from the rental were extremely gracious. Guests are welcome in their upstairs space as well: in the kitchen, game room/lounge, and beautiful deck overlooking the river. The property has impressive views out over the gorge. You can even see Multnomah Falls from their kitchen and deck. They cooked us a wonderful breakfast on one of the mornings. The location of the property was ideal for sightseeing in the area and for all of the best hiking in the area.
My husband and I stayed here with my parents and our toddler (in a port-a-crib we brought along.) We took the short Beacon Rock hike the next day as a family (ten miles away.)
The rental was very clean and had everything we needed. The owners - who live upstairs - were more than welcoming and even served us an impromptu breakfast (which certainly isn't always included - just depends on their schedule.)
From our downstairs rental we could look out over the Columbia and see Multnomah Falls. It was a lovely setting. Everything was spotless, and the beds were comfortable.
The place was immaculate. Bedrooms were both comfortable. Michael and Nikki were very gracious. They cooked us a wonderful breakfast as we looked out their kitchen table window to the gorgeous view of the waterfalls across the Gorge. You'll want to check in during daylight, as the place could be a bit difficult to find after dark. With so much to see on our trip, we didn't spend much time at the rental, but were content when we did.
