We have lived in Thermopolis our entire lives and enjoy the country living life style having lived on a ranch on Owl Creek to owning 15 acres of the family horse ranch. We know the area for all activities including river floating, fishing and mountain camping. Yellowstone National Park is near and we try to plan a trip every so often as it always has something new to show us. Growing up on ranches has taught us hospitality and how to enjoy all that is around us.
Ruth Jackman purchased this chateau / country house in 2014
This area is dear to us as it was family owned and we have a great admiration for living in the country.
We fell in love with this area of Hot Springs County for the beautiful views of the mountains, river and farm land that surrounds the property.
I fish the river around Thermopolis a couple times a year usually staying at a motel in town.
Most of the motels are old and out dated. That is why I am hating writing this review. The Chateau was brand new. It had every convenience that you would find in a small home, including a caretaker that would do anything to make your stay great. The bedding, towels,
kitchen supplies etc were perfect and the whole place was very clean. It was a top VRBO rental. I hated writing this review because now more people will stay there and it will not be a secret place anymore.
This little cabin is so clean and comfortable for a vacation getaway. The home is wonderfully constructed by the owners who live right up the hill behind the cabin. We went so my husband could deer hunt. I was interested in solitude and I was very relaxed here. The owner was very kind and let us use their full size freezer to store our meat until we left for home. There is a beautiful view of the Big Horn River down the hill and across the highway. It is only 3 miles to town and Hot Springs State Park. The cabin is super warm inside and the furniture is very comfortable. The bathroom floor is just such a novel idea and just lends a lot of charm to the cabin. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Wyoming for hunting next year. Ruth, the owner, is a real sweetheart. Thank you for making our stay comfortable and memorable.
My husband, brother in law, stepson and I have been coming to Thermopolis for many years for fishing and hunting in the Thermopolis area. This year we felt like we had won the lottery because we were able to stay in such a beautiful cabin that overlooks an open field and the Big Horn River. The décor and comfort of this home is top notch! Every little detail of this cabin is inviting and welcoming. The bathroom floor is so cleverly designed! This cabin is first class in all the amenities. The owners are the friendliest hosts! If you need anything at all, they will help make it happen for you! Sitting on the front porch watching the Big Horn river glisten in the Harvest moonlight will be a life long memory. A herd of antelope at 40 yards from your front door wasn't too shabby either! Hands down, this rental is an absolute gem. This family will definitely be returning if we will be able to book it next year. I have a feeling that once the word gets out about this home, it will be tough to get a reservation. This adorable home made our trip especially wonderful....Thank you so much R & D well done!
My husband and I spent a week here to celebrate 15 years together. Each day we would go out on an adventure to one of many attractions and would return at night to relaxation with a great view. We saw Yellowstone, an old ghost town, hot springs, toured a whiskey distillery just to name a few. The place was clean and new. Cozy bed hot shower new appliances. Not a single complaint from this happy couple.
Major fishing access to the Big Horn River, Windriver Canyon and Boysen Lake. Nice well maintained 9 hole golf course with a very nice resturant and lounge. Wyoming Dinasour museum with daily digs and attractions.
