With a family-friendly atmosphere Mudpuppies is a relaxing retreat accommodating up to 12 people (maximum 8 adults), where you can unwind and connect with nature on the 3 cabin length covered decks. Situated in a neighborhood-style resort (not secluded), the cabin provides proximity to local attractions, nearby restaurants, and Rocky Top Sports. One of the pools (open May – Sept) in the resort is walkable from the cabin; and a recreation area with a second pool, basketball hoop, swings, charcoal grills, and a reservable pavilion for up to 50 people are a short drive in another area of the resort. Entertainment, new family memories, and nostalgia feelings are guaranteed with amenities like a pool table, shuffleboard table, arcades, and board games! Guest reviews tell our story best!

Mudpuppies & Moonshine Cabin is in beautiful Mountain Shadows Resort within the city limits of Gatlinburg. There are cameras at the resort entrance, adjacent cabins, and on the front porch of the cabin showing the front porch and parking in front of the cabin. The surveillance devices may capture video and audio. No cameras inside the cabin or any that intrude on private space. Cabin has parking for 3 vehicles. No campers, RVs, or trailers are permitted in the resort. Security deposit, ID verification, and signed rental agreement are all required.

Cabin was great. It list most of the rooms as first floor but the cabin is actually three stories. Master on main floor but others are in basement or first floor and master bedroom on first. Other than that it was great.

Comfy cabin in the hills

Comfy and cozy cabin in the mountains. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable. We loved the hot tub and the kids loved the gaming systems!

We have 3 log cabins in Gatlinburg, TN, the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains; and a condo just steps away from the beach in Siesta Key!

We are frequent visitors to the Smokies and love all that is has to offer and are always ready to head back whether for hiking, viewing wildlife, taking our kids for walks in nearby creeks, go-carting, or just driving through the beautiful Smoky Mountain National Park to enjoy the scenery.

Why they chose this property

This was our 1st of 3 cabins in the same resort! We chose it because it is in a perfect location to enjoy the many activities available in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. It is quiet and relaxing and feels like you are miles from hustle and bustle, yet it is minutes from everything. High enough to have a view, but no hazardous roads to navigate to get there! We liked the area so much, we purchased a second, only 4 cabins away from this one, and a 3rd in another part of the resort.

What makes this property unique

Mudpuppies & Moonshine is our flagship cabin and it shows! We are constantly working to improve our guest's experience with modern updates! A remodeled and well-stocked kitchen with new appliances! Clean bathrooms that have all been remodeled! If it is old, we'll update/remodel, if is broken, we'll fix it - we'll do everything we can to ensure you have a great time! Mudpuppies is located near the Arts & Crafts Community where you can spend hours (or maybe days) viewing and buying things from local craftspeople. We are also about a mile to Rocky Top Sports World. You can sit on the front porch or one of the back decks sipping coffee while you plan your day and enjoy the beauty of our cabin's location. Rather than the typical bear, fishing, or elk theme, we've opted for tastefully simple and local décor paying homage to the region as well as the cabin name and moonshine heritage of the Appalachian Mountains which include the Smokies. You will find moonshine distillery barrel lids and jars adorning the cabin!
This cabin has had all flooring replaced, a full kitchen remodel, all 3 bathrooms have been remodeled, all furniture replaced, and general décor updates to exceed your expectations.
