Great week in Falmouth
We had a great week in Falmouth, having good weather always helps. The Falmouth View cottage is an exceptional property, probably one of the best we have ever used. Having never visited or stayed in Falmouth before, I cant say the best in the Town, but the property would have to exceptional to beat this. Our host Helena was very helpful, when needed, she was there to help. Not that we need much help as everything was to hand. We had the choice of two parking spaces which was good because my car is a bit on the large size. Falmouth is one of those town where you are either going up a hill or down one. The cottage location is probably not right if you have any health issues (the Jacobs ladder steps are like the north face of Everest, only went up once and swore never again. However, there are other less strenuous options) I strongly recommend this property to anyone looking for comfortable accommodation, with great views and a town with loads of Drinking and Eating options.

Helena has been amazing in my time of need for accommodation during this odd time!!
The property was amazing! Such a great location and beautiful views. I had to come here during the lockdown for work and I was thankful to have such a beautiful place to be isolated in. Helena was so helpful as my crew and I had no where else to stay. Hopefully one day I will be able to return for an actual holiday and would definitely stay here again!!

Good in parts
It's the view of Falmouth Harbour from the balconies of this house that make it special. Other than that it was mediocre, and it's very misleading to advertise it as being suitable for four adults; there's a standard double bed in one bedroom, and a 4 ft 'occasional' double in the other. The house was clean and the kitchen was generally well-equipped, but avoid it if you're elderly or infirm - the staircases are steep and narrow, and there's nowhere comfortable to sit: the worn out settee and armchair in the sitting room are too low, and the chairs on the balconies are very basic folding chairs. Parking was a nightmare. The house is in a narrow street with double yellow lines, where parking outside even to unload or load the car is out of the question. It was a matter of driving round and round the surrounding streets of tightly packed terraced houses to find a parking space. However, it's only a 5-minute walk into the town centre (provided you can manage the hills and steps). That's the nature of the house's position and obviously outside the owner's control, but the comfort of the house could be improved by investing in a decent settee and a proper double bed.

About the host

Hi I live with my husband Nick in Newbury.
We have two grown up children who have finished university and have now left home.
Our son studied at Falmouth University and because of this we got to know Falmouth and love it. When we want a short break away from our busy lives we love to spend time there.
Falmouth is a wonderful place to visit for couples, single people and families alike. Young and old there is something for everyone.
We love to travel and experience different countries and cultures and hardly ever chose to stay in hotels unless travelling with business but prefer self-catering as we feel we get a better feeling for the places we visit.
When I am not working, apart from travelling I love property refurbishing, interior design, furniture upholstery, gardening and yoga.

Why they chose this property

Our Holiday Home is in Falmouth Town on the south coast of Cornwall, with amazing views. Our son was at Falmouth University and because of this we got to know Falmouth and love it. When we want a short break away from our busy lives we love to spend time there. Falmouth is a wonderful place to visit for couples, single people and families alike. Young and old there is something for everyone.

What makes this property unique

As soon as we walked through the door we fell in love with the view which can be enjoyed from all principal rooms on every level. Everything in this historic vibrant town is a few moments walk away. There is an excellent range of cosmopolitan restaurants, quayside bars, pubs. galleries and shops, Other leisure amenities include the National Maritime museum, several parks, gardens and safe bathing beaches.
There are fantastic walks including the South West Coast Path, which runs right through Falmouth, around Pendennis Point to the neighbouring beaches of Swanpool, Maenporth and beyond.
There are many regular ferry crossings available to take you to gardens like Trebah, Glendurgan and Trelissick and idyllic waterside villages such as Flushing, St Mawes, and Helford.
These sheltered waters are ideal for the water sports enthusiasts there are sailing, rowing and diving clubs catering to all abilities. Fishing can be done from the beach, pier, off the rocks or you can book a place on a fishing boat.
When you are finished exploring you can simply chill out on the terrace looking out at the ever changing vista below.
