RELAXING COUNTRY HOUSE IN ANCIENT CAPITAL VILLAGE OF TEGUISE

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Teguise - Country House Lanzarote

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and Swimming pool. 5 min walk to village

The property is a traditional Canarian house that has been renovated to a very high standard. All fixtures and fittings are new, with Zanussi appliances etc. The house is situated 5 min walk from the center of Teguise, the ancient and pretty capital of Lanzarote, but the location is peaceful and very relaxed. Ideally situated to explore the island by the excellent road network. Within 10 minutes drive of the golf course!

Swimming pool and satellite TV. Sunday sees the huge and colorful market in the streets of Teguise. Famara beach is only 15 min drive away. We can organize car hire etc for you and any requests for extra beds and cots. We can also advise on where to visit etc having lived on the island for 14 years. We will meet you from the airport and a welcome pack awaits you in the spacious country kitchen. There is Internet access close by in the village, 7 minutes walk from the house at the La Tahona bar and restaurant next to the town hall.

Costa Teguise golf course is only 10 minutes drive a way...A beautiful course, an oasis of green in the volcanic surround. The 'rough' tends to be a bit rocky so bring along an old club to chip out.

We had a lovely week's holiday based in this villa. It lived up to expectations, Its was very clean, comfortabled, well equiped kitchen, handy little pool. There were extras on arrived like a large bowl of fruit. Very quiet which suited us. We would definitely recommend the villa but remember, in the desciption it say one shower and that is true but not a problem.
Recommendation: Found restaurant Acatife expensive and disappointing, But do visit La Tahona and Patio del Vino. Do visit the Teguise market and the castle. Best vine yard El Grifo, lovely white wine. Visit all things Cesar Manrique too many to mention. Find beach in the north Caleton Blanco near Orzola. Get AA Spiral Guide Lanzarote. Also get Walk Lanzarote by David + Ros Brawn. Do walk 35 Caldera Blanca spectacular views over southern volcanoes.
You must visit the volcanoes.

fabulous house in 'real' lanzarote

fabulous house in 'real' lanzarote
  • 5 out of 5
We stayed here for a week in November and had a wonderful time. The house is beautifully decorated and was spotlessly clean on our arrival.

We only used the 2 bedrooms in the main part of the house as didn't want to be too far away from our 2 little imps (3 and 1 yrs old!). Beds very comfortable, huge rainshower in bathroom and soft fluffy towels. There was a cot and high chair for our youngest and as the house all on one level no concerns about stairs. The kitchen is brilliant, and all equipment is of a high standard so a pleasure to cook occasionally with some the the local produce from Sunday market. When we arrived there was a great selection of fruit, bread, milk, eggs and fresh bread for our use (all complimentary).

It was not quite warm enough to swim in the pool but the girls took a few dips and Roger was very helpful on our first day, making sure it was clean for use. He also recommended a fish restaurant in Arrieta in which we had a beautiful lunch.

The location of the house is perfect - just a couple of mins easy walk into the village, which we wondered around every day enjoying the cobbled streets and beautiful old architecture. There is a little bread shop just as you enter the village and the girls loved queuing each morning with the locals for warm fresh bread. There are several cafes/bars/restaurants - one of our favourites was La Cantina where we ate on several occasions and enjoyed very tasty food and excellent service. There is also a great playpark which the girls made use of daily.

Teguise is a very central location for sightseeing - We had hired a car and made trips out to Famara, cuevos de los verdes, and la geria (stocked up on some excellent wines!)amongst others. However we did not use it as frequently as we had anticipated as everything really is at your fingertips in the village itself. The setting is very scenic and a walk up to the castle is a must to enjoy the view of both coasts.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday - we hope to return some time soon.
The Armstrong family, Ireland.

Has the wow factor!

A unique building full of rustic charm. If you appreciate decor & quirky furnishings this is the place for you.
There are several large oriental pieces dotted around the huge airy rooms, not to forget a fabulous farmhouse kitchen table. Very well equipped kitchen.
Soft fluffy white towels provided in the only bathroom, the master suite off the patio pool area is really only a cloakroom, toilet & basin.
Had to request a change of bed linen after a week, probably could of managed if the weather wasn't so poor, rained several times each day for eleven out of 14 days. Very unusual ,first time in ten years. So had to plug in the dehumidifier for a couple of days as a slight musty smell was begining to form, but once the sun came out & we could ventilate the house it was fine.
Satallite Television, we only found 2 news channels in English, but after a day or so my 4 year old was into watching Spongebob Squarepants in German.
Thank-you Roger for all your efforts in sorting out the pool.
Location wise this is idyllic, quiet, lovely neighbours, glorious views, but just 3 mins walk into the historic town of Teguise, which comes alive for the amazing famous Sunday Market. The streets are quiet most days, this makes it just glorious to wonder around the gift, craft shops & gallaries. Fantastic location to visit all sides of the island being so central. Farmara, Arrieta, La Geria (wine region).
Being quite foody people (fat) we were looking forward to sampling some of the restaurants in Teguise, there is a wide selection to be had, but after a wonderful welcome from Jacob on saturday night when we popped in to check out the menu & book a table for Sunday at La Cantina, we were informed that there was live music on Sunday's
actually an acoustic duet (Jacob's Mum). It was all so good & welcoming, with the perfect hosts owners Zoe & Ben, not forgetting the secret cinema upstairs. we didn't bother trying anywhere else, it was that good!
I would recommend this property to family & friends.Thank - you Nigel & Luisa.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. Honesty is good in all things and although we try and get it right, its not always possible.

We mostly go on holiday for the good weather.rain we can always get at home......So I'm glad the sun eventually came out and that things seemed brighter.

The biggest plus of the house is its location......just on the edge of Teguise, not inside. Teguise is a very special place with its own unique atmosphere not found anywhere else in the Canary Islands.

Thanks again for taking the trouble to write your review..You are always welcome back.

Kind Regards. Nigel. Luisa and Roger.

nice relaxing holiday in lanzarote

  • 5 out of 5
we had no problems and the photos are what really convinced us to take the house.

my wife is really particular about cleanliness and order and she´s still telling her friends about the house and how well-kept it was.

The area is excellent for walking and we explored some of the extinct volcanoes which dot the area. The village of Teguise is only 5 minutes walk away and it has a lot of nice restaurants. Famara beach down the road is very unspoilt and well worth a visit. The Sunday market is very colourful and typically Canarian.

A very good holiday. We will probably repeat in the future.

A relaxing holiday

  • 5 out of 5
Nigel and Luisa have put together a superbly furnished great place to stay, in an excellent location on the edge of old Teguisse.
This is ideal if you want to have peace and quiet, but still be close enough to all the action on the coast and Arricife.
Being at the centre of the island makes it ideal for getting to all the sites. Highly recommended

Also thanks to Roger for his help and recommendations of eateries etc.

beautiful rural holiday

  • 5 out of 5
Myself, my wife and our family of 3 children stayed at this house in the village of Teguise.......It was an ideal holiday home, close to the village with a selection of good restaurants ...we especially recommend Bar La Tahona with its cheap but excellent tapas and rationes. The house was in a quiet spot with hardly any passing traffic and ideally situated to explore the island. Thanks to Nigel and Roger and Luisa for looking after us. Hopefully we'll be back. 'Country House Lanzarote' is situated on the outskirts of the capital village of Teguise. 5 minutes walk from the center but in a peaceful and rural situation. The village itself has a number of very good restaurants with all types of cuisine available. There are also local shops and a variety of historic places to visit including the castle up on the hill which is now a museum. On Sundays is the biggest market on the island which fills up all the local streets. Teguise is central to the island and ideally situated to explore by road the many pretty sights. Also ideally situated for bike rides or walking holidays. There is Internet access close by in the village.

Other Activities: Birdwatching / trekking

Golf: The golf course at Costa Teguise is 10 minutes drive away from the house.

The course is located between the villages of Tahiche and Costa Teguise with panoramic views towards the capital town of Arrecife and beyond to Fuerteventura.

The course is an oasis of green below the volcano (extinct ) of Tahiche. The fairways and greens are beautifully managed. The rough is ' very rough '.bring an old club to chip out of the volcanic rocks.

The clubhouse is nicely situated above the 18th green and offers moderately priced drinks and food in a nice ambiance.
