Maison Bellevue is situated in picturesque Munster, famous for it’s rooftop stork nests and unique Munster cheese, right in the heartland of Alsace.
A traditional Alsatian House with four storeys of care and attention-to-detail make Maison Bellevue truly a place for fond memories. Three completely self-contained apartments filled with rustic country furniture, a beautiful sunny terrace and courtyard, central heating and plenty of parking. All apartments have panoramic views of the Munster valley and the mountains beyond.
This picturesque property backs onto a natural mature pine forest containing a variety of wildlife and a crystal clear stream running it’s length. Maison Bellevue is a leisurely 5 minute walk to the town square where one can stock up on delicious local produce from artisan boulangeries, charcuteries or from the weekly produce market. Or simply enjoy the famous Alsatian cuisine at one of our numerous restaurants.
A 20 minute drive to the beautiful town of Colmar and only a short drive to the wine villages of Alsace, Munster is the perfect base camp. Easy access to excellent skiing slopes in winter and to the many walking and biking trails in summer makes Maison Bellevue the place to stay.
This very peaceful four story house has three lovely self contained apartments for rent at different prices. Just on the edge of Munster town in the middle of the Alsace wine region, and 1 hours drive from Germany, the location is very convenient. There are many things to do in the region, but if you like Alsace wine you could not find a better location. There is a small lake with a barbecue area.... 5 minutes stroll into the middle of the town... there is internet access at the house, .... and the owners are very hospitable.. There are lovely walks from the house and in the region generally... a nearby large swimming pool... and some of the most beautiful Alsatian villages you can imagine can be found within half an hour of the house. I would recommend staying there.
We spent two weeks at this apartment, and were happy with the facilities. My understanding is that this was a hotel, now divided into 3 apartments. The house is dated, but was spotlessly clean and was stocked with all amenities that were required. It was also a bonus to have some older furniture, which is a lot more comfortable than some of the trendy new stuff. What we liked most about the apartment was the huge private terrace. If you are considering renting here, make sure which apartment you are booking into – it is only the 1st floor apartment which has access to the terrace
Nice house and friendly owners. Excellent view over Munster. Still only 500 meters from downtown. "Just like a house in France should be like" Magnus and family, Sweden
Nous avons passé 2 semaines très agréables dans l'appartement familial confortable et calme au 2ème étage.Vue magnifique sur Munster et les hauteurs environnantes.
Centre ville, piscine,... accessibles facilement à pied (5-10min)
Sentiers de randonnée au pied de la maison.
Maison Bellevue was a great surprise for me! It is very central to the small town of Munster and the train station. It's ideal for people who want to escape and be able to commute to other places without difficulty.
I found the accommodation to be very satisfactory, everything I needed was catered for and found in my room including Wi-Fi! Access to my lodgings was unobtrusive and I could come and go at anytime of the day without interference.
The view from my room was simply breathtaking akin to French movie set in the countryside! The area is very quiet with the occasional ringing of the Church bell in the distance, it is a very peaceful place!
There are many amenities within walking distance including local cinema, swimming pools and gymnasium, restaurants (my favorite "Flamme Gourmandes" & "A la Schlitte"), patisseries, farmer's markets (couple of times per week), bicycle rental all set in a way that doesn't seem touristy! You feel safe walking through the street at night after a nice meal, looking at the charming old buildings!
I will definitely be returning here as I found it the ideal place to build a base further exploration in the future, including trips to Germany and Switzerland!
After the tedious journey from Stanstead to Munster via Basel, and a gorgeous train ride to Munster via Colmar, my friends and I arrived at one of the most picturesque country home we have ever seen on travels in France. We were a great group of ten and we never felt crowded there was so much space and we felt like we were in our second home. The rooms were spacious and bright not mention the incredible views of the hills and forest. The kitchen was very well equipped for those complicated french dishes and living space was tasteful yet comfortable. Very affordable picteresque, the ideal french getaway. The hosts were incredible, very friendly and really made us feel welcome and part of town life.
Every where we wanted to go was within easy reach and there are walking trails right from the doorstep and a great swimming pool nearby especially on tuesday night for a night swim. The bi-weekly markets are a very short distance and you really feel like you're in the France that you read about. We spent a week just taking in all the beauty and bike riding through the valley, one of the best holidays ever! Most definately coming back... and bring the rest of the gang.
Piste and cross country skiing are about 15kms away in La Schlucht, and there are many well marked hiking routes all around us. In Munster there is a swimming pool and tennis courts.
Colmar (20kms) has good shopping and many fine restaurants, lovely buildings and a canal district known as Little Venice. It is a sheer delight with a network of beautifully preserved medieval streets in its centre. It is a major centre for the Alsace wine trade and has one of France's leading art museum, the Unterlinden museum which is said to attract more visitors than the Louvre.
Sélestat (40 kms) has many old houses and a library containing rare manuscripts and early printed works. Close by is the massive medieval château of Haut-Koenigsbourg standing proudly on top of a 2,500ft hill, with spectacular views over the surrounding countryside.
There are literally scores of wine villages, where you can visit cellars and taste.
