About this property

Luxurious Paris apartment, 7th arr.steps from Eiffel Tower, Air Conditioning

This apartment with its three air conditioned bedrooms is in the 7th arrondissement within easy walking distance of many Paris attractions. It's just steps away from the Champ de Mars, Eiffel Tower and within easy walking distance of many restaurants, bars, shops and the famous market street rue Cler. It's just 2 blocks from the metro, just across the street from the bus stop, close to bicycle rental stations, 2 open air markets with one on the right bank at Ave President Wilson and the other on the left, as well as boat and bus tours and within walking distance of many museums and other attractions.

This apartment is a wonderful mélange of antiques and contemporary furnishings from the beautiful, original artwork, the 1920's Baccarat dining room chandelier, patisserie ceilings, original herringbone wood flooring to the ultra modern professionally fully equipped kitchen with high end appliances, a chef's delight.

The apartment was completely remodeled in 2012-2013 with the assistance of a professional French interior designer and by the owner who made several trips to a small town in Provence with over 400 antique shops to hunt for antique furnishings for the apartment as well as shopping in various parts of Paris for additional furnishings. Two large contemporary sofas are on either size of the living room fireplace with an antique oriental rug under them and a custom made glass top cocktail table between them. Custom made pharmacy lamps at the ends of each of the sofas make reading at night easy. Additional lighting is provided by two custom made standing lamps in either corner of the fireplace wall and a Maison Charles (very famous French lamp designer) metal table lamp with metal shade on an antique parquet, round table with copper base in another corner of the room. The two standing lamps were made to compliment the design of this table lamp. A pair of 18th century bergere chairs sit at the end of each of the sofas. They are covered in material of horsehair and sisal and have small pillows covered in Jean Paul Gautier fabric. A very unique feature of the living room is the flat screen television which is hidden behind the framed mirror over the fireplace. The screen is viewed through the mirror.

The nine foot long, oval granite dining room table can easily accommodate 8 to 10 and even if necessary 12 people. There are two 18th century host and hostess bergere chairs and six custom made side chairs all upholstered in horsehair. A beautiful 1920 crystal Baccarat chandelier hangs over the table. Two 18th century carved wood buffets on each side of the dining room fireplace house dining linens, sterling flatware, formal china and CD albums with over 500 CDs of various genre. On top of each of these chests are Baccarat and St. Louis crystal vases and candelabras. Hanging over each of these chests is a wonderful, huge old oil painting which can be lit in the evening by a strip light sitting on the chest under the painting. On another wall in the dining room is a built in cabinet with a Bang & Olufsen six disc CD player, remote control with two tall,l vertical speakers in the corners of living room fireplace wall. On top of this chest which was made to look like a continuation of the wall with its molding is a 1940s lamp with a four sided, square column,, etched mirrored base and rectangular silk shade.

Both the living room and the dining room have a pair of French doors which can close them off from the entry way. These doors as well as all the other doors in the apartment have antique pairpoint crystal, round bubble knobs made in the United States during the beginning of the 1900s. After bringing all the knobs to Paris, all the crystal balls were removed from their shanks which were then replated to have the same finish - one that looks like silver. New matching "silver" escutcheons were made for all the knobs as well.

The kitchen is extremely well equipped with a round, granite top table and 4 or 5 "ant" chairs made by a well known Danish designer. There is an induction stove top, three ovens, convection, steam and microwave, an American side by side, stainless steel refrigerator with a dispenser for filtered water, ice cubes and ice chips, dishwasher,
Nespresso machine with frother and many other electrical appliances as well as a cordless phone and wall mounted flat screen TV. Two sets of dishes, Riedel stemware, Jean Couzon stainless steel flatware, professional knives, baking and roasting equipment and much more. Chef aprons, cotton napkins, towels, and picnic ware. Should guests not want to view anything - like stacked dishes - in the kitchen, there's a sliding, frosted glass door that can be rolled across the kitchen open doorway. Usually this door is tucked away next to the large roll out pantry stocked with many staples for guests to use., but the door can cover the opening hiding the entire kitchen from sight. It's really a true profession chef's kitchen. as one of the guests who is a professional chef remarked.

The kitchen, living and dining rooms all open onto the very long and wide entryway. The entry has a very wide 18th century desk with a laptop, color printer, scanner, copier and fax with a dedicated phone line. There's a Bang & Olufsen BEOplay A docking station with speakers and remote control for ipods, iphones, ipads and a cordless phone, and two drawers with scissors, scotch tape, maps, print paper and ink cartridges. Across from the entry door to the apartment is a two drawer 18th century chest with marble top with an electrified antique owl oil lamp. Next to the chest are three designer metal tree bark looking cylinders holding six umbrellas. An original oil painting of Notre Dame hangs above this chest. At the other end of the entry is a pair of French doors with five sets of double sided, beveled mirrored panes. Closing these doors makes the bedroom area quite private from the living, dining rooms, kitchen and entry.

The 3 beautifully appointed, air conditioned bedrooms all have 83" long beds. There is a cordless phone in every bedroom. The front bedroom with sound proof double door windows and air conditioning has a Duxiana bed with dual tilting, patent leather covered headboards. On each side of the bed is an 18th century. three drawer chest with bone base lamp on it. One chest has a very old ivory elephant on top of it to match the picture of "An elephant in the room" which is on one side of the fireplace wall. On another wall is an 18th century, carved armoire. Sitting on the marble mantle of the fireplace are two antique Baccarat crystal candle holders with gold leaf decorated chimneys and gold leaf and enamel work on the candlesticks. There's an antique chair and matching ottoman in the corner. Behind the chair is a standing Venetian glass standing lamp. The ensuite bathroom has a huge walk in shower with hand spray, overhead spray and wall sprays. Three mirrored walls surround the antique walnut chest converted to a vanity with marble top and undermounted sink. The two side mirrored walls each have an antique crystal wall sconce with two lights.

The middle air conditioned bedroom has a king bed 83'" long.with a mirrored chest from the 40s on each side of the bed. Sitting on top of each of these chests is a Maison Charles metal lamp that has a metal shade with no back so that the light shines on the wall. Sitting on the marble fireplace mantle is an antique Baccarat crystal, scalloped edged oval bowl in a Christofle silvered base with cherubs at each end and a floral arrangement in the middle. Beside the fireplace is an antique piano stool with a scalloped edged wood inlaid back. Behind the stool is a custom wall lamp with an arrangement of crystal flower bouquet surrounding the six flame lights. The art work in this room is exceptional with two framed original water color set designs created in the 1830s by the first set designer of the Opera Garnier. The original oil painting over the bed was done by a Bolivian who came to study and live in Paris in 1910. The ensuite bathroom has tub, shower. marble top vanity with undermount sink and toilet.

The third air conditioned bedroom has twin 39" wide and 83" long beds that can be made into a large king. It has very wide 18th century, three drawer chests on either side of the bed with tall Venetian glass base lamps on them. There is an 18th century chair upholstered in a modern designed fabric in the corned next to the fireplace. Beside the chair is a custom made pharmacy lamp which has attached to it an small rectangular tray. There are a pair of St. Louis crystal vases on the fireplace marble mantle. The painting on the wall over the bed of the Champs Elysees and the Arc de Triomphe was painted in the early 1900s by a famous French painter known for his Parisian street scenes. The ensuite bathroom has a custom made vanity with marble top and undermount sink and a walk in shower.

All of the bedrooms have high quality linens and bedding including cashmere throws. All bathrooms have luxury terry robes, hairdryers and heated towel racks.

The hallway in the bedroom area has a powder room and cabinets with travel books, art books, dictionaries, baseball gloves, ball, two sets of boules, decks of playing cards and many games.

The laundry room is down the hallway to the back or third bedroom. It has a washer and dryer, iron, ironing board, hand wash drying rack as well as soap, softener and instruction booklet on how to use all of this equipment.
.
All phone calls made from the cordless phones in the apartment are free to North America and Europe. There are instruction booklets for all the equipment in the apartment as well as another with loads of useful tourist information.

Beautiful apartment in perfect location
We stayed in this beautiful apartment for 3 weeks and loved every minute of it. It is beautifully furnished and in a perfect location. We have stayed in 3 other very nice rental apartments in the same neighborhood over the past few years, and this was the absolute best. We hope to return!

Beautiful home; User friendly
My family and I stayed in Gay’s home for almost ten days. It was as presented and lovely! It was well positioned in Paris with wonderful booklets with full instructions on how to use all appliances. Great! A special attention to detail and inviting welcome was Gay’s cleaning staff who left us with wine, fresh croissants and viennoiserie! Merci beaucoup! C’était très gentil! Our only inconvenience was our canceled arrival flight which threw off our arrival to the apartment. In addition, our booking apparently was not on the schedule so they were not expecting us so the apartment hadn’t been cleaned. It was swiftly sorted out while we went out for a meal however. All things considered, we had a wonderful time and would stay again without hesitation. Thank you!

Amazing flat in Paris!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from start to finish. Communication with the host was clear and timely. The flat itself was immaculate and just as the photos depict. Plenty of space with beautiful views and in the very safe 7th arrondissement. We had a wonderful stay with our kids whose first time it was in Paris. We highly recommend the quaint & delicious restaurant down the street on Rue de Grenelle called Gusto Italia 218. We would stay in this flat again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I are retired professionals. We have a home in Southern California close to the Pacific Ocean just north of San Diego and another in Deer Valley, Utah, where we spend the winter months skiing. Both of us have traveled extensively including go across Canada and the United States in our 40' RV. I have lived in Scotland, Switzerland and France as well as in the United States.
My husband grew up in Arizona and I grew up in Michigan and Pennsylvania. He's an electrical engineer with an MBA and I was a Federal Prosecutor for the Department of Justice, Organized Crime and Racketeering Section, and later for the U.S. Attorney's office Southern District of California. After retiring I was the President of two non profit organizations in the San Diego area. My husband is and has been on the board of electronic companies.

Why they chose this property

I love France. Since 1990 my husband and I have come often to France, rented houses in various locations and chartered a barge for a few years. We've seen and enjoyed this country. In 2012 for my birthday my husband gave me a 3 month stay in Paris. We rented an apartment near Esplanade des Invalides. During our stay I would look at the real estate listings in the front windows as I was passing by. At 6:30 pm on a Friday night four days before we were leaving France, I saw the listing for this apartment. I had seen the previous listings in the window of this company and knew that this was a new listing. Went home, told my husband I had to see this apartment. We walked to the real estate company and half hour later we were in the apartment and just loved it. Returned to the States. One week later, Friday night in Paris, I phoned the French realtor who told me that there was an offer on the apartment. I immediately phoned a French attorney that night and the next day he phoned to inform us that we had bought the apartment.
I have loved furnishing this apartment in antiques and vintage pieces appropriate for this 1910 apartment. In some cases it's been a real treasure hunt - like finding sources for the many pairs of vintage crystal pair pointe door knobs for all the doors in the apartment. I've made several trips to L'Isle sur la Sorgue, a small village in Province, that has over 400 antique shops hunting for just the right pieces of furniture for the apartment. I've made trips to the huge Paris flea market looking for 2 small mirrored bedside chests to fit into the middle bedroom. Perseverance paid off, I found them! Furnishing this apartment, for me was a labor of love. I hope that all that stay here enjoy the apartment as much as I do.

What makes this property unique

I fell in love with the beautiful interior finishes of this apartment. The moldings or 'patisserie' as the French would say, of the ceilings in the living and dining rooms have cherubs, puppies, monkeys, birds and flowers in the plaster work. All of the other rooms have detailed plaster work on their ceilings. All the walls have detailed moldings. There are double French doors mirrored with beveled glass at the end of the entryway that close off the living, dining and kitchen from the 'private' area of the bedrooms. The entryway is spacious and welcoming. Right at the end of the entryway just entering the 'private' area is the powder room - great location for guests and all. The kitchen is great. It's quite conveniently located just across from the dining room. I really like to cook and this kitchen is made for it with 3 built-in ovens, microwave, steam, convection, bake, broil and an induction stove top. The long countertop is granite and there's a very large stainless steel sink and dishwasher. It also has a pull out pantry and an American size side by side refrigerator with filtered water, crushed and cubed ice dispenser. Best of all, we can eat in the kitchen at the round granite table.
I also liked that each of the 3 bedrooms has an ensuite bathroom. That's not easy to find in Paris! After we bought the apartment in 2012, I had all the bathrooms remodeled installing heated towel racks, better lighting, and beautiful vanities, sinks, faucets and framed mirrors.
