This cottage is a quaint 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage with a living room sectional, seating table for five and a well fitted and beautiful kitchen. Full laundry facility available within the unit. With a beautiful front porch overlooking the Atlantic Ocean you can watch spectacular sunrises where no two are alike or look at the millions of stars with the moon shining over the bay of James Cistern. Grill to your hearts content, sit back & relax with beautiful landscaped surroundings. Complimentary to the cottage are bikes, kayaks & a golf cart to be used within Rainbow Bay. Also available to our guests only, for a fee, is a Ford Explorer to pack up with a cooler and beach chairs to adventure through out Eleuthera.
We are a Bahamian couple who moved from Nassau to Eleuthera in 2012 seeking peace and tranquility for our family. We have an established construction business where we love to make dreams come to reality with beautiful but affordable homes.
Josette Major purchased this cottage in 2013
A place to just settle back, unwind and relax in a comfortable and peaceful place for an affordable price. Located in a great place to feel fantastic Atlantic Ocean breezes, minimize the bug invasion and be central enough to go to any part of the island
We offer an inclusive service to our guests which makes your vacation planning easy. We offer a pick up service to and from the airport to the cottage and a jeep for a fee without having to deal with anyone else besides us. We offer complimentary use of the bikes, kayaks & golf cart to adventure within Rainbow Bay to the four beaches, cliffs or Rainbow Inn for delicious food and entertainment. We offer ourselves for any help necessary as being in a foreign place can often leave many questions unanswered. We are here to make this your best vacation ever.
We stayed in the Take Ya Time Cottage this last winter for 6.5 weeks. We had my 92 year old mother with us and it was a comfort knowing when we were out and about that Josette, Elise, or Delano were just next door in case of an emergency. We also brought our furry kids and they enjoyed being able to run on off lead on the beaches and swim in the ocean. They provide kayaks, bicycles, and everything needed for the beach. You can stay for weeks and never see the same beach twice! Our favorites were Ten Bay and Gaulding Key. Don't miss the Friday night fish fry or just take a kayak on the golf cart down to Rainbow Bay and enjoy having a private beach all to yourselves. Thanks again Josette and Delano!
GET THE GOLF CART!! It will get you literally anywhere in rainbow bay. Just watch out for sand (we had to dig out if it like 3 times). It's close to 2 amazing beaches, one Caribbean (perfect for snorkeling) and one Atlantic (great if you want some more waves) so you can see both sun rise and set every day. The Caribbean beach at rainbow bay had the best snorkeling if you stayed along the cliff side. Jossete is also great at setting you up with any transportation you may want on the island. I was with a group of four 20 year olds and all the little things (kayaks, snorkels, wifi) made this location the perfect one for us.
This place has it all. Look no further. The listing descriptions are perfectly accurate. Never seen a cleaner and well-maintained holiday home.
The house and facilities are just complete. Many extras available (Shuttles,
car rental, etc.)
But these Bahamian hosts make the difference. Whatever your needs, Josette and Delano provide it right away. Just helpful and very endearing people.
We felt more than at home and absolutely recommend the place.
Let me start by saying this is the first time I've ever taken the time to write a review, bit this place deserves it. We had a wonderful stay. To be clear, there is a saying on the island seen on tshirts and bumperstickers, "Eleuthera, it's not for everyone." I for one am glad it's not. What that means is this, if you expect go-carts, jet skis, arcades and theme parks for the kids and tons of night life for the adults, the Eleuthera is not for you. However, if you want a place where you and your loved ones can slow your life down, spend time kayaking, snorkeling and beachcombing while getting to know some of the friendliest locals and seeing the islands in as close to their natural state as possible, then you've come to the right place.
During our stay, we stayed in both the two bedroom Take Ya' Time cottage and a few days in Jus' Breathe studio, due to TYT being previously booked. Both are well appointed, the cottage is perfect for 4 and the studio is perfect for two (we even did well with 4 thanks to the extra matresses provided by Delano and Josette. Speaking of which, your hosts are wonderful and extremely helpful. They are available when you need them but don't intrude on your privacy. Our family has fallen head over heels for them.
I could write a book on the cottage, the island, the people, the food etc, but let me sum this up as someone that has been researching Eleuthera and Rainbow Bay for quite some time, you won't find a better vacation value, stop looking and book now.
One note on food, if you find a place serving Guava Duff for dessert, buy it. You can thank me later. Thanks for the tip Delano.
Delano and Josette, I'm trying to get things worked out to return in June for Pineapple Fest.
My husband and I love the beach! We travel extensively seeking cultural immersion, and 'non-touristy' places to explore and relax. Eleuthera was the island for us, and Delano's and Josette's place was a perfect match for us. The cottage is charming, and I don't think the pictures do justice to the charm of the place and attention to detail they both have provided. Delano picked us up at the airport, and is so friendly and accommodating. Josette will do anything for you. They live next door, but you never see them unless you want to touch base or ask for suggestions. The golf cart and the daily Jeep rental were so helpful for excursions to other amazing beaches, and of course the upscale Harbour Island day trip we took. The cottage has lovely linens, tons of towels, kayaks and bikes for two. The location is amazing- a 3-4 minute golf ride to the Atlantic (we LOVED "come and go beach"- and never saw a person there! Crystal clear water, and ten steps in and you are snorkeling with gorgeous purple Angel fish, examining tons of sea urchins and other fish)
We stayed for three weeks this August and experienced almost all of the comforts of home. (Please remember you are on an 'out' island.- Groceries may be your biggest challenge, but we brought what we thought we wouldn't find- like meat and condiments and IPA beer) We would have been fine without much of what we brought. There is far more available on the island that what reviews suggested.
So all in all, if you love peace and quiet, a quiet lovely home to unwind in at the end of a day full of adventure and exploration this is the place for you!
Having traveled to about 15 countries in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean, (using VRBO- Josette and Delano by far were the most attentive landlords we have ever had!!!)
We are in the process of trying to settle on a lot there and hope Delano will build for us! We visited some of the homes they've built, and the quality of construction as well as the communication with us from afar has been perfect every step of the way.
Each year our family looks for an island adventure vacation to take that's not in an All Inclusive Hotel. Well we found the perfect place to stay at Take Ya Time Cottage. The owners picked us up at the airport, stopped at the grocery store on the way to the cottage. They have the jeep there to rent for the stay, bikes, kayaks and golf cart to take to the 4 local beaches. The washer and dryer were helpful so we didn't need to bring much clothes with us. The home had everything in it that we needed for our stay, clean and comfortable. Josette and Delano were there to help with the different beaches to go to, restaurants to try. We went to a new beach each day. Beaches to definitely hit are Rainbow, Lighthouse beach(2.5 hr drive to get too, but well worth it), Cocodemamia (great for small children), Twin Cove, swam with sea turtles in Whales Point..........but really all the beaches are beautiful with snorkeling. Go to the docks in James Cicstern ask for Tunn we bought fresh fish and lobster from him at 3pm and Governors Harbor at 4pm we got fresh grouper. At the end of our days at the beach we just grilled dinner and chilled at the beautiful home that Delano built. This could not have been a nicer family to rent a home from for our Island Adventure. It was everything we hoped it would be and can not wait to return again. It's an island to get away from it all, but still have internet if you need it.
Take 'ya' Time is situated between James Cistern & Hatchett Bay located on the Northern side of Eleuthera. There are numerous beautiful beaches and local restaurants to visit or perhaps a day excursion to Harbour Island or Spanish Wells to possibly do boating or deep sea fishing. Venture and drive from one end of Eleuthera to the next and visit all the of historic site locations, blue holes or caves.
