Bewdley has been a place for friends and family to reconnect for generations. Its simple elegance and rustic charm brings new levels of relaxation and easy going camaraderie on and off the water.
Whether you are looking for a unique family vacation experience or adventurous getaway with friends. Bewdley is a place you won't forget.
Great care has been put into making sure your stay is as peaceful as possible. From 1,200 count Egyptian sheets to newly renovated bathrooms, you can't help but feel at home.
The house is privately situated on the Rappahannock River and has a private pier and water access via Deep Creek adjacent to one of the Nation's nicest state parks, Belle Isle.
Looking for the most fun on the river? With 4 kayaks, bicycles, fishing rods, crab pots and crabbing nets you'll have a full day of fun in the sun before relaxing in our hammock or river-facing screened in porch.
We look forward to you enjoying our wonderful home.
Not only did we have our wedding there, but we have been going to Bewdley for years! It is such a magnificent and tranquil place to stay. There is no other vacation rental like it! If you want a beautiful place to stay on the water, this cannot be beat! Book it before it is gone!
I grew up going to Bewdley each summer and it only gets better with age. From beautiful sunsets to a great river to enjoy, it is the perfect place to create memories with your family or group of friends. The owners have done a wonderful job updating the bedrooms and painting the house, as well as adding plenty of amenities to use outdoors while we are there. Nelson, the caretaker, is a phone call away with any problems; but it sure is easy to forget all of your problems when you step outside to the view. We enjoy fishing, boating, kayaking, and playing lawn games during our stays, and there is no better place to do those things! I would highly recommend a visit, because it certainly won't be your last.
The house and property were amazing - exactly what my friends and I were looking for in our weekend getaway. The lawn was perfect for outdoor/yard games. We took advantage of the fire pit outside as well while we enjoyed a beautiful evening under the stars. We couldn't have been happier with the location and hope to return again in the future!
We have been here multiple times and each time gets better. Can't wait to return
This was just a wonderful spot to spend a week away to recoup, regroup, refresh and enjoy family time.
Driving up to the property blew our breath away and once we unpacked and explored this property didn't disappoint.
We appreciated all the small touches - the swim towels, toiletries, crabbing pots, and kayaks.
Appreciated the multitude of kitchen equipment which can be lacking in vacation properties.
We would have liked a storage area for dry goods - we went shopping beforehand and so had food for the week.
However, we used the kitchen table to store, so not major but perhaps helpful to clear out a cupboard for these items?
The TV didn't work which was not a problem (didn't mind as our kids played outside all the time}. But the issue was dealt with promptly by Nelson the caretaker for the property.
Kayaking to the National park was great fun and safe - the water is very shallow and so we felt comfortable allowing our teens to kayak alone and swim there.
We would definitely return here.
Overall, an excellent property, well cared for, well provided, comfortable beds, true to description and a beautiful spot.
We just returned from the historic "Bewdley" house and the best family vacation we have ever had. We have three young children and this house was absolutely perfect, safe, fun for all ages. It has a panoramic view of the river, which isn't just a river, it's like a large lake with salt water. Four kayaks were provided and you have your own little mini bay for the kids to ride around in. Katherine thought of every detail. Sun screen, bug spray, fishing poles, bicycles, safety vests, crab traps, crabbing directions, phone chargers for every type of phone. You name it and it was there. The linens are a strange thing to mention but they were SO soft that I had to get on the internet to find the same ones. Shabby chic interior and linens. Every bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, body wash in large pump jugs. I could go on and on. It was a perfect vacation and beyond relaxing. We weren't there long enough to explore neighboring towns and honestly, we didn't ever want to leave the house and property. If you go, bring lots of food to cook because you won't want to leave. If you do want to eat out, there are restaurants about 17 minutes away, as well as a Walmart. There is a great pizza place called Annie's and we ordered that on the first night and ate from it for a couple of days. The State park is literally across from your house. It has a beautiful, albeit tiny, sandy beach but you can wade out into the water which is only knee deep for about 100 feet from shore. We ventured out to a sand bar with all three kids, including a three year old and it was totally fine.
