We spent two years looking for this vacation home. All of the other lake houses we looked at were small and on top of each other with no privacy. The house on Shellcamp has everything we were looking for. Lots of space in the house, the yard, the lake, and lots of privacy.
Even though we are 'away from it all' we can take a short drive over to Lake Winnipesaukee and enjoy all the dining and shopping and hustle and bustle. The kids enjoy going to Funspot on rainy days. And after we have had enough of that, we can come back and enjoy our peaceful lake.
We had a great time in this house. We stayed 3 nights. We were two families, each with two kids under 5. There was plenty to do outside in the yard and pond. Beautiful views of the pond from almost every window. Indoor fireplace was delightful. The kids love the upstairs "kid" area. I only wish we didn't have to bring all our linens and covers. We also would have liked to bring extra pillows (if you like fluffy pillows). I hope to be back here someday.
Our family enjoyed a lovely week at the lake house on Shellcamp Pond. It was exactly what all of us were looking for. My husband and I could unplug and enjoy the serenity of the pond (which was totally still and felt like it was all ours except on the weekend), as well as the hottub and kayaking. Our 5 year old son made fairy houses in the woods, played on the swings, and loved the little beach and swimming in the shallow, warm lake. In the mornings, mist covers the pond, and birds and fish thrive there. We shared the house with another family, with 4 and 7 year old girls, for the first half of our stay and we all fit very comfortably in the house. It was also well-located, near good ice cream, attractions, and restaurants. We hope to make a visit there an annual family tradition.
As a family of five adults and two small children the house perfectly met our needs. Plenty of bedrooms, two living rooms, two bathrooms. A very amenable kitchen. The spacious yard and private beach worked out great for the kids. Fishing was great fun! We caught perch, blue gills, and (almost) a large mouth bass. The owners are a lovely family who couldn't have been nicer. Five stars and we'll be back!
The house is very spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. This is the perfect rental for a family with kids. The owners are extremely friendly and very accommodating. The lake is quiet, shallow and warm. Great fishing. OK for swimming. The location is perfect if you want a peaceful great away but close enough where you can get to Weirs Beach in under 30 mins. I would highly recommend this rental. It exceeded my expectations!
