About Lori & Kevin Hammond

Kevin and I love the city and all that it has to offer. Our favorite thing to do is dine out at the fabulous restaurants that Portland has to offer. We also love the outdoors as well. He is an avid fly fisherman and knows all of the prime spots to fish for Striped Bass and Salmon. I love to garden and have a community garden plot just down the street from our home where I grow herbs and flowers for surrounding restaurants.

Lori & Kevin Hammond purchased this apartment in 1989

Why Lori & Kevin Hammond chose Portland

Kevin and I bought this building in 1989 and we have enjoyed every single minute of living on Munjoy Hill. The scent of the ocean is magical and you can definitely smell the saltiness at certain times of the year. The sound of the bell buoys and the ferries are also one of the things we miss when we are away for too long

What makes this apartment unique

The home is close enough that if you can hike mountains in the morning, come home and take a ferry ride to the Casco Bay Islands or perhaps spend an afternoon at one of the many lakes that Maine has to offer. All can be done in one day!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your generous hospitality and gracious home made the Portland vacation a real joy! Selecting your home was a "Cardinal" idea. We hope to do it again. You'll find a small token of our appreciation on your kitchen windowsill.... a small feathered friend we found in Boothbay Harbor!

Fondly,

Suzie, Sally and Julie

COMFORTABLE, AND WELL CARED FOR

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Hammond's home, and we were very impressed at the lengths they went to, in making their guests comfortable. The rental, was clean, and stocked with every necessity. We are looking forward, to our booking there in June.

Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Just had a wonderful stay at this location! Beautiful apartment within minutes of Old Port dining, Shopping etc. We attended a Harvest on the Harbor Tasting event, took a walk through the Old Port and a trip to the Portland Headlight which was only a twenty minute drive from the Apartment. Had a late dinner reservation at Back Bay Grill that was fantastic, the Bangs Island Mussels were amazing! We were a bit behind schedule for our arrival and the owner happily accommodated us. The property owner was extremely inviting and had everything available for a comfortable stay. Thank you Lori for being so accommodating and helping to make our short trip a great one. We and our traveling companions would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to experience Portland and the surrounding area.

Portland House

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Lori and Kevin's house in Portland during our tour of New England. It was a complete contrast to the 19th floor apartment we had just left in Boston. It is set in a quiet urban neighbourhood within walking distance of the eastern promenade and some lovely restaurants where we enjoyed really nice food. The house is very well equipped and beautifully furnished - a real home from home. The garden is also very peaceful and perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or a coffee. Although we never had the chance to meet our hosts, Lori made special arrangements for our arrival and left all the relevant instructions and information and a lovely bottle of wine. A most enjoyable few days.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. I am just so sorry that I was unable to actually greet you in person. It sounds like you really got out and about quite a bit while you were in New England and I was so relieved that the weather was perfect for an Autumn trip.

Beautiful rental in a lovely neighbourhood

  • 5 of 5

We have rented through VRBO several times in Portland and although all of our stays have been great this vacation rental is truly exceptional. The indoor and outdoor living spaces are really lovely. Although we did not do a lot of cooking, the kitchen is fantastic and has everything needed for some serious cooking. The property owners are extremely attentive and very easy to deal with. I would definitely recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Rhonda! We really are so glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay. I hope that in the future, you may come back and visit with us again. I hope that Mike got his wish to use the bikes on Peaks Island, instead of doing what I do....take the golf carts! Ha! Thanks again and I mean what I said, please come back next year!

Excellent Portland Stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, dog and I stayed at this cute apartment last week for our wedding anniversary. We received the warmest welcome from Lori and were immediately impressed with how great the apartment was - very clean, comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked. The outdoor space is also a huge plus.

The location of the apartment is excellent. We found that most everywhere we wanted to go was within about 10 minutes of the apartment - downtown, Old Port, East End Beach, the dog park.

We would definitely stay at this rental again if we are ever up in Portland!

You sure know how to take sightseeing to a new level. If you two are ever back in the area, like I said before, we would love to have you back again! ~Lori
