Tall Timbers, the community, is actually a forgotten Maryland treasure where time stands still. It consists of two rows of houses situated between the Potomac River and dense timbered forest. We are located 3 miles east of the Piney Point/ St. George's Island Bridge off Maryland Route 249 not far from where the Potomac River flows into the Chesapeake Bay.
Fully renovated, with stunning views into the woods, and sunsets over the Potomac River. You will find a spotless single-level home less than 2 hours from DC making it perfect for a quick getaway. Located across the street from the Potomac River, an easement runs along the side of our home to the water's edge but slippery bulkhead stones make entry difficult. The best launch spot is at the marina or one of the many creeks or parks. Two of the three bedrooms are furnished as bedrooms. The third is used as a den with an ambiance fireplace, Smart TV, playbox, and fold-out bed to supplement the living room sofa-bed. Tall Timbers Cottage is cozy to sleep 7. We love to watch Virginia's setting sun, the night lights, and the abundance of wildlife from the large flagstone patio. Well-trained polite pets are welcomed with advance written approval provided you agree to pay for any extra cleaning or damage charges incurred
This modern and year-round retreat is equipped with linens and any other items you might expect in a well-equipped home, including bikes, puzzles, a Keurig coffee maker, Smart TVs with cable, Netflix, Wi-Fi, and fast internet.
The central heat and central AC are always comfortable. In addition, to the electric fireplaces, there is an outdoor fire pit for wood fires.. All windows are screened and open if you want to feel the breezes off the river and listen to the chorus of bird songs.
Fishing and Crabbing for our famous Maryland Blue Crabs is a popular activity in our local Herring Creek. The village of Tall Timbers and the Marina are both easy walks. Picking up boxed lunches or great steaks at Wm Dents Grocery is a tradition. You will find a local watering hole in the back of the grocery.
The beaches, docks, lighthouse, and bridge at Piney Point and St. George's Island are all a short drive. We are happy to assist you in booking fishing charters or cruising the Potomac with a qualified waterman. Located fifteen miles by car from Historic St. Mary's City (Maryland's Colonial Capitol dating to 1634) and many other adventures.
