After visiting other Caribbean Islands, I fell in love with the Turks and Caicos Islands for the amazing natural beauty of the white sands and calm, clear, turquoise waters. These truly are the most beautiful beaches in the world and seeing is believing. Talk to the locals and ex-pats and you will find that TCI has a bit of the Wild West in its’ soul. Crazy stories from the 70’s and 80’s with people waiting for a shipment of food to arrive, constant power outages and locals driving to the airport runway to put on headlights so the planes could land……these stories shape the island, add character and make memories.
Aside from the great restaurants with local specialties/excellent wine lists and some with the best chefs in the Caribbean, there’s also my favorite past time, golf. I can play golf year-round on a spectacular Caribbean course! Most importantly though, there is something about the breeze and the light in the morning across Provo, or the sunset that lights up the sky in color, that makes greeting the day easier. Enough said, now, back to my hammock for with a glass of wine.
I've been to over 40 countries, which represents a lot of trips for business & pleasure. What I needed on this trip - a personal vacation - was simply to relax in safety and privacy. We got so much more than that: the apartment is much more spacious and airy than it appears in photos. Sparkling clean. Comfy and homey. Never needed AC as there was always a lovely breeze. Barely saw our host (though enjoyed it when we did!) so it feels that you have a house and large property all to yourself. Excellent swimming and kayaking in turquoise waters. You do need a car, but everything is close on this island, so a great home base. Dock, lounge chairs fabulous place to hang and read. The best thing? The three cutest and most companionable mutts ever: Max, Rangi, and Boo. We felt protected always (though we didn't need the protection :) Rangi's a big sweet overgrown puppy who will swim with you and jump in your kayak for a ride. They are so nutty and so sweet - I actually cried when we left! The ONLY negative was ticks everywhere (outside). Nobody's fault: nothing's perfect. But this came really REALLY close to a perfect week... Thank you again for sharing it, Will.
We had a perfect stay at waterside , house was stunning beautiful setting on a paradise island :-) William was a great host there if we needed any questions answered and the pot cake dogs we're a treat to have around
Hi there! This property is really special! The grounds, landscaping, dock and exterior amenities truly are above and beyond what you would expect! Will is the best host! He's very attentive to details and ready to do anything it takes to make your vacation pleasurable! We're on the move alot while on vacation, and the central location of Will's place was perfect! As for the island....we really loved it, with a healthy economy and development, there is good balance between local business and tourism.
This was the best house rental experience I've ever had. It was attributed to:
1) A great host, Will, who ensured we had a great experience from picking us up at the IGA to ensuring we had a log for the firepit and providing kayaks to explore. He has thought of everything to enhance the experience.
2) Great property which is centrally located, modern, well maintained and extremely clean. The outside areas make it a vacation oasis and are as beautiful if not more so then the pictures (hammock, firepit, grill, dock & veranda).
3) Direct access to the water with the crystal clear canal. The clean canal was perfect to swim in. In addition we took one of the 3 kayaks out for several long paddling adventures.
We were on the property for 3 days and went to Bugaloos twice for lunch. Amazingly fresh seafood & a show (as the fisherman bring the conch & catch of the day in off the ocean while you are eating). We also went to the seafood distributer just past Bugaloos to buy our own conch. As the weather was a little rough we were only able to buy 5 lbs of conch.
We are looking forward to returning in 2015 to further explore the island.
I have stayed at Waterside twice now, it's lovely, peaceful and spacious, including the outdoor living space/s, dual bicycle, and overall great location, close to Turtle Cove. Interior is furnished beautifully, with a working kitchen and grill/outdoor dining area (we celebrated Canadian thanksgiving with friends). More importantly, traveling alone for work, I feel safe there. Local neighborhood is great for running, with a challenging 4 mile hill route. Will (and Max) are great hosts. If it's available, I would not hesitate to stay here again and again while visiting Provo. Hands down, way better than a hotel.
We had a great time and Will was a perfect host! The canal was easy to access and the water was crystal clear, lots of areas to sit or layout and relax. We loved the fire pit.
The house is modern and well maintained. The dogs were very friendly and well behaved, we enjoyed having them around. The house is centrally located so you are close to everything.
Best places to eat were Bugaloos Somewhere Cafe and Chinson Grill Shack. If you want to cook your own fish, go to the seafood distributer just past Bugaloos on the left it opens at 1pm.
Best snorkling was at Malcom beach on northwest of the island. Also take the ferry to north Caicos and drive over to middle Caicos to Mujin harbor and swim out to Dragon Cay then go to Bambaraa beach, it's beautiful with no one around!. On the way back stop at Barracuda Beach Bar.
