About Lizzy Sutphin-Assistant
Scott and Tina met while fly fishing on the World famous Kenai River in 2007.
Scott moved to Whitehorse Canada with his family in 1978 where he graduated High school. He attended college in Fairbanks and has lived and worked in Anchorage since the mid-80s. He has traveled extensively to over 300 villages throughout the state for almost 30 years! You might say he knows someone in all parts of the state! He retires in August of this year and is looking forward to sharing his stories and experiences with others in a more relaxed outdoors setting.
Tina moved to Seward from Texas as a traveling physical therapist 20 years ago.
In 1999, she opened a private practice orthopedic and sports physical therapy clinic which she operated until October of 2013 when she sold it to Advanced Physical Therapy of Alaska.
In the summer, Tina enjoys being your host in the Bed and Breakfast, gardening and sharing stories of her Alaskan experiences.
In the winter months she continues to work part time in various facilities throughout the state traveling to remote villages and locations to provide physical therapy to Alaskan residents in places such as Nome, Shaktoolik, Savoonga, Gamble and Shishmaref Alaska.
When Scott and Tina are not working Scott fills his winter hours tying flies and working in his wood shop while Tina pursues her love of painting Alaska from the hundreds of photos she has taken over the past 19 years
They both enjoy a multitude of outdoor activities from fishing, camping, hiking, skiing, and star gazing in hopes of glimpses of the Northern Lights.
Our House Host, Lizzy, was born and raised in Moose Pass Alaska. She graduated High School in Seward. She has a degree in International Studies and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese
Lizzy Sutphin-Assistant purchased this house in 2012
Why Lizzy Sutphin-Assistant chose Seward
Choosing our property will allow you to 'get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown (though it is Seward, Alaska and not much qualifies as hustle and bustle here). The home is literally within minutes of all of your adventures. Its surroundings will make you feel you are lost in Paradise yet you'll be convenient to anything you might need during your stay.
We believe we offer a wonderful experience in accommodations and comfort. Scott, Tina and Lizzy have been in Alaska many years and know the 'inside' scoop on multiple wonderful adventures. We will help answer any of your questions and are available if you need them throughout your stay. Otherwise you have the home much to yourself and can relax and enjoy your stay unencumbered by the crowds of a hotel setting.
What makes this house unique
Our home is a work in progress. Though we try to keep our photos up to date, you may notice minor changes in the decor' as we make improvements for your comfort and ours.
The house and surrounding pole barns were built in 1951. The original owners who built it were the owners until they passed away in the late 90s and early part of 2000-2004. The second owners of the home completely remodeled it giving it its wonderful country appearance it has today.
Tina was blessed with knowing the original owners and had the opportunity to serve them in their elder years as their therapist. They were wonderful people who shared great memories of their Alaskan experiences with Tina while sitting at their kitchen table in the home many years ago.
I hope you will enjoy our stories of the Seward and Alaska we love. Perhaps you will have your own stories to tell as you enjoy all we have to offer during your stay.
