About Tina McLean-owner and Lizzy Sutfin-Host

Scott and Tina met while fly fishing on the World famous Kenai River in 2007.

Scott moved to Whitehorse Canada with his family in 1978 where he graduated High school. He attended college in Fairbanks and has lived and worked in Anchorage since the mid-80s. He has traveled extensively to over 300 villages throughout the state for almost 30 years! You might say he knows someone in all parts of the state! He retires in August of this year and is looking forward to sharing his stories and experiences with others in a more relaxed outdoors setting.

Tina moved to Seward from Texas as a traveling physical therapist 20 years ago.

In 1999, she opened a private practice orthopedic and sports physical therapy clinic which she operated until October of 2013 when she turned the reins over to someone else. In the summer, Tina enjoys being your host in the Bed and Breakfast, gardening and sharing stories of her Alaskan experiences.

In the winter months she continues to work part time in various facilities throughout the state traveling to remote villages and locations to provide physical therapy to Alaskan residents in places such as Nome, Shaktoolik, Savoonga, Gamble and Shishmaref Alaska.

When Scott and Tina are not working Scott fills his winter hours tying flies and working in his wood shop while Tina pursues her love of painting Alaska from the hundreds of photos she has taken over the past 20 years

They both enjoy a multitude of outdoor activities from fishing, camping, hiking, skiing, and star gazing in hopes of glimpses of the Northern Lights.

Our House Host, Lizzy, was born and raised in Moose Pass Alaska. She graduated High School in Seward. She has a degree in International Studies and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese

Tina McLean-owner and Lizzy Sutfin-Host purchased this house in 2012

Why Tina McLean-owner and Lizzy Sutfin-Host chose Seward

Choosing our property will allow you to 'get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown (though it is Seward, Alaska and not much qualifies as hustle and bustle here). The home is literally within minutes of all of your adventures. Its surroundings will make you feel you are lost in Paradise yet you'll be convenient to anything you might need during your stay.

We believe we offer a wonderful experience in accommodations and comfort. Scott, Tina and Lizzy have been in Alaska many years and know the 'inside' scoop on multiple wonderful adventures. We will help answer any of your questions and are available if you need them throughout your stay. Otherwise you have the home much to yourself and can relax and enjoy your stay unencumbered by the crowds of a hotel setting.

What makes this house unique

Our home is a work in progress. You may notice minor changes in the decor' as we make improvements for your comfort and ours.

The house and surrounding pole barns were built in 1951. The original owners who built it were the owners until they passed away in the late 90s and early part of 2000-2004. The second owners of the home completely remodeled it giving it its wonderful country appearance it has today.

Tina was blessed with knowing the original owners and had the opportunity to serve them in their elder years as their therapist. They were wonderful people who shared great memories of their Alaskan experiences with Tina while sitting at their kitchen table in the home many years ago.

I hope you will enjoy our stories of the Seward and Alaska we love. Perhaps you will have your own stories to tell as you enjoy all we have to offer during your stay.

Home away from home

  • 5 out of 5
My husband and I along with 3 friends stayed at the house in Seward while participating in the Lost Lake Trail Run. We had an enjoyable stay with all the comforts of home including full kitchen, dining and living room, cable tv, Wi fi, washer and dryer. We were close to sightseeing, restaurants and a grocery store while being able to enjoy the peaceful quiet of our surroundings.

Nice quiet and comfortable stay!

  • 4 out of 5
We spent three days around the Seward area and were lucky enough to stay here. The house is in a great, quiet location on the edge of Seward, just a short drive into town. The house was clean, very well-kept and felt like being home. The host, Lizzie (sp?) was very friendly and helpful, offering advice on activities, etc. I would definitely recommend a stay to my friends and family.

Our property is a bed and breakfast as opposed to an entire house rental. It located on the world famous Kenai Peninsula on the outskirts of beautiful downtown Seward.

A multitude of outdoor and indoor activities await you just minutes from the home. Enjoy a leisurely day at the World Famous Sea life Center and learn about our local ecosystem and how you can play a role in preserving it. See, Woody our 2000+lb Stellar Sea Lion.

Enjoy a day of shopping in the many Harbor or downtown seaside shops. Check out Urbach's and the Alaska Shop, locally owned for over 20 years each. They know what you need and want to take home to love ones or for memories of your trip.

Tantalize your taste buds at one of our delectable restaurants serving an array of fresh Alaskan catch from Salmon, to Halibut to Crab. For some good ol' fashioned down right delicious BBQ and cajun flavor try The Smoke Shack--best bread pudding on the Peninsula and everything on the menu is a must try! All while listening to the best blues around. If gourmet is more to your liking stop in and try Nationally recognized chef, Kevin Lane's, specialties at Chinook's or World famous dishes at Ray's. For great service, pizza or Mexican food in Alaska, try Christo's Palace.

Follow that with a delicious desert in the restaurant or grab some one of a kind locally made fudge or gelato downtown at Sweet Darlings. All product there is locally made with secret family recipes. You can even catch a glimpse of them making it as you struggle to decide what you want!

For the adventuresome, there are numerous reputable tour companies waiting to take you on an adventure of a lifetime from dog mushing over glacial ice, tour Resurrection Bay for wildlife viewing or catch a trophy Halibut or Salmon with our experienced fishing guides.

Whatever your interest we're here to help you enjoy your stay and adventure to the fullest.
