TROPICAL GARDEN AND POOL: The villa, garden and pool provide the perfect background for your vacation retreat. You may not want to leave!!The garden will amaze you all day and evening. There are over 20 palm trees on the property; flowering Oleander bushes and endless flowering bushes. Watch the parrots fly through the garden, and iguana that munch on the leaves! The large pool, (12 feet by 8 feet), with large, teak sundeck, provide endless fun and enjoyment. Relax in the shade on the poolside veranda, where trade winds provide a cooling breeze. At night, lie in the pool and look at the stars.
OUTDOOR LIVING: Enjoy your meals outdoors, large, shaded tiled, patio by the pool and garden, complete with a teak table for 6 people and outdoor BBQ. Relax in hammocks or loungers.
CHILDREN: are welcome. NOTE: The pool does not have a fence around it. You need to supervise your children. The property itself has a wall around it.
INSIDE THE HOUSE: 1,883 square ft. / 175 m2. All bedrooms have air conditioning; all rooms have ceiling fans. Tiled floors throughout; white stucco walls. All rooms have windows have shutters and screens, and garden views.
NO ADAPTORS NEEDED: All rooms have electrical outlets for 110V or 220V. Your hairdryer from North America, or Europe will work!
WIRELESS INTERNET: Works throughout the entire house and on the poolside patio. Bring a surge protector , just in case there is an electrical surge.
KITCHEN: Fully-equipped, modern, European design, granite counter-tops, stainless steel double-sinks, dishwasher, large, 4-burner gas stove with oven. Palm trees peek through the kitchen window above the kitchen sinks. Double-French doors lead to the pool and patio for easy outdoor dining.
AIR CONDITIONING IN BEDROOMS: All bedrooms have an air-conditioning unit on the wall. Remote controls in each room allow you to adjust the temperature.
MASTER BEDROOM: King Size bed for your comfort. Attached bathroom, modern European design with moulded counter, 2 sinks, and large tiled shower. Large, shuttered window completes this room.
SECOND BEDROOM: Double bed; 2 windows to the garden and pool. Open the window for poolside living!
THIRD BEDROOM: Smaller room, with 2 single beds. Poolside window.
LIVING ROOM: Beautiful vaulted ceiling; two futon sofas; a teak chair with footstool; small computer desk with router. Open the windows in the morning to enjoy the cool breezes. When it is hot outside, the windows with shutters (with built-in screens) keep the house cool.
OUTDOOR FACILITIES: Rinse tank for SCUBA and other gear; hooks to dry gear and wetsuits; clothesline; outdoor shower to rinse off yourself or your gear.
SECURITY: Property fully walled and gated. For your peace of mind, house alarm system. The manager will show you how to use it.
PARKING: Under shaded carport, behind the gate. Ample street parking as well.

DIVING: Bonaire is consistently voted as the top shore-diving spot in the world.
LANGUAGES SPOKEN: All people speak English as well as Dutch. People here are multilingual, and easily switch from French, Dutch, English, German, and the local language!!
ASSISTANCE WHILE STAYING IN MY HOUSE: Sunbelt Realty is my local property manager. They are only 5 minutes away, and provide assistance to you. They arrange for your transport from the airport to the house, and return to the airport. This is included in the service fee.
They will meet you at the house and walk through it with you; show you how to use everything; and answer any questions you may have.
When you book the house, they will send you a rental agreement which outlines payment options. You can pay by credit card or wire transfer to their bank. They will call you if you prefer to give credit card details by phone.
HOUSECLEANING: Once mid-way in the week.
CELL PHONES: Check with your provider, to see if you can get a package for the Caribbean. You can also check out the price of local cellphones. Buy a cheap one with a prepaid card for minutes.

GUEST REVIEWS: My house was rented out for the last 3 years to a tenant from Holland. So, I do not have any reviews from the last year. From 2009 to 2011, I rented it to short-term tenants, all of whom raved about the house, pool and garden. I do not have contact information from my European guests, so cannot include any of their comments. My previous property manager assured me they loved my home. Many guests returned. I live in Osoyoos, in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada. I love windsurfing and live near a lake. Osoyoos has a dry, desert climate; very hot in the summer, and mild in the winter.Osoyoos is in the northern tip of the Sonoran desert, which starts in Mexico, goes through the United States and into Canada.
The Okanagan Valley is a 4 hour drive East of Vancouver. The Valley is famous for its wineries, cherries, apples, peaches, and spectacular scenery with warm lakes, valleys and mountains.

I love windsurfing and first learned about Bonaire in a windsurfing magazine. I fell in love with Bonaire, and the Lac Bay, which is only a 5 minute drive. Downtown is only a 5 minute drive. I like the southern tip of the island. In a few minutes, you can feel like you on a remote island, with amazing ocean views.
I returned to the island 8 times, and then saw this house being built. I knew it was meant for me, and dreamt that one day, I could retire here for 6 months a year.
I love the location of my house. Only 5 minutes drive, and I am at Lac Bay, the windsurfing spot. It is also just a great place to hang out with all the amenities you need.
Every evening, I walk to Bachelor Beach and watch the sunset, cruise ships, listen to the birds, and watch the ever-changing ocean.
Over time, I had many plants added to the garden. I often stay at home all day, enjoying by the pool and garden! Bird songs are wonderful in the morning and evening. I've even had birds come into the living room if I have the windows open.
I like feeling that I am part of a neighborhood with local people, and not a tourist area. I feel safe in Bonaire and have travelled solo here many times.
Lac Bay is an easy place to learn and to practice windsurfing. The Bay is not very deep. When you fall off, you can just stand up and start again!! This makes learning so much easier than learning in deep water. If you are more advanced, you can sail further into the larger bay.
Although I have my own gear in Canada, I rent gear. Then I can change the sail and board, depending on the wind conditions. The equipment is modern and in good shape. There is everything you need: rentals and lessons. Check out Jibe City on the internet.
Lac Bay is also protected by a reef so there are no scary, big fish to worry about.
Bonaire appealed to me because I felt safe; it has a relaxed atmosphere, and is not over-developed or spoiled by too much tourism. I have been to other islands and I keep returning here. The fact that most people speak English is helpful to me. I enjoy all of the other aspects of the island: snorkeling; sunsets; warm water; the tropical ambiance; flamingos; parrots; iguana; and making new friends, from around the world.
Belnem is an upscale neighborhood, a 5 minute drive south of downtown. My house is only a one-minute walk to Bachelor Beach. Watch the sunset and the cruise ships heading out to sea.
Drive only 5 minutes to Lac Bay, a world-class windsurf spot with rentals and lessons for beginners to experts. Lac Bay has activities for everyone; safe area for children; restaurants; beach chairs; shade; kayak rentals, and more. A great place just to hang out.
If you are a kiter or windsurfer, check out Windguru for wind patterns. The Trade Winds are wonderful for sailing. Kitesurfing Beach at Atlantis, only a 5 minute drive.
The charm of Bonaire is that it is unspoiled and not overdeveloped. It has all the land and water-based activities you could want but without crowds!! it is sunny all of the time, and warm all year. You can have a great vacation at any time of the year.

If you have children, there are many beaches where you can relax and watch them play in the sand and water. If your partner is a windsurfer, Lac Bay is a great place to hang out and watch everyone. Restaurants, shaded areas, beach chairs, loungers, sandy beach, shallow water, washrooms. The Kiter beach doesn't have the same amenities.
