Villa features a large open Cooks kitchen and great room which opens onto the covered outdoor dining deck.
Great room features large flat screen TV with HD Cable, Surround Sound Stereo . Leather Sofas provide comfortable seating for 6. There is a game table-which serves as indoor dining if weather doesn't allow outdoor eating (rare but possible) and a comfy reading chair rounds out the room.
Kitchen has everything any cook could require. Large counter surfaces, all in unique Brazilian Granite. The 13-foot long bar counter divides the kitchen from the great room.
There is a powder room off the great room which features a unique amethyst (stones not just color) vessel.
There are 2 Master Bedrooms. Each has its own Huge Bath room with both shower and whirlpool tub. Lavatories have 2 sinks, and the Brazilian granite countertops.
One bedroom has a king bed, the other has twin beds which can be configured as a king. Each bedroom has its own flat screen TV, and large walk-in closet.
Sliding glass doors lead to the private decks which look out to the pool deck.
The Bedrooms are separated by the kitchen and great room, they sit on either end of the villa for maximum privacy.
The villa is designed to accommodate up to 6 people. There is a queen sized pull out sofa bed in the great room.
Eric & Paula Lambert moved to St John in July 1979.
We came on vacation and didn't want to leave!
At the time Paula was pregnant with our first child so this was a real leap of faith!
Eric was a builder and just finished up a project, Paula had recently graduated from San Jose State University with an accounting degree. These skills were just what we needed to start a new life on St John just at the time that a 20-year long building boom was beginning.
The design and finishes for Samba Azul were inspired by Eric's having been raised in Brazil. After not having been to Brazil since leaving in 1963, he went back to Rio for a school reunion with his brother and sister. They had a fabulous time and it ignited a desire in him to take Paula there to see where he grew up. The trip we took together inspired us so much we made it part of our business to import granite to St John and St. Thomas.
While we were there to learn about the granite business we purchased art work which is now in Samba Azul The name Samba Azul is BLUE SAMBA in English.
We were able to find the perfect blue granite for our floors and decks, and marble for the entry foyer columns. The villa is designed around those features.
Samba Azul was designed and built by us as a culmination of Eric's knowledge and skill after having built 29 vacation villas here for others.
Paula has built a strong reputation in her field of business -bookkeeping, tax preparation, and business license consulting.
Eric has retired from building villas, now does renovations, granite installations and villa maintenance.

The land was bought by us in 1980. We purchased 2 side-by-side lots because we wanted both sunrise and sunset views. We built our home and Blue Aweigh Cottage on the eastern facing lot and eventually (30 years later) built Samba Azul on the west facing lot. Because we could control the placement of all the buildings they do not block each others views or conflict in any way. Also, the lot is on a hillside where no other houses can be built which could block its views. There are always Caribbean breezes swirling around which cool the property. And the view includes the bay Chocolate Hole, and looks west towards St Thomas (in the distance) and beautiful sunsets.
It is located at the end of a dead-end road in a quiet and safe neighborhood. We have lived here , raised our children here. It is convenient to town, but it has a remote feel to it.
All the rooms are large and have high open beam ceilings.
The pool is right off the great room. The bedrooms have their own private decks, and their own large bathrooms.
The owners designed this for vacationers after having built almost 30 villas for others. Layout and amenities are based on many years of experience. We have traveled extensively through out the world. We furnished and equipped this villa with the traveler in mind. You should not be missing anything! The only thing missing is you :)

St. John's economy is thriving and many homes and condos are being built. Construction is everywhere on the island and can begin anywhere at any time.
