A delightful home base in a fantastic city
My wife and I. recently retired, had the good fortune to spend the past four weeks in Barcelona and having this apartment as our home during that time made our visit all the better. Upon our arrival, Graciela, who I will talk about later, picked us up at the airport and gave us a quick overview of the apartment and her city on the ride in. Located in a "real" neighborhood replete with wonderful local shops, markets and countless wonderful restaurants, the apartment offers a good amount of space and ample sunshine. Its location is PERFECT if you want to be in a non-touristic area that offers easy access to those sights you are likely to want to visit (during a month there we took a taxi twice - coming home from a concert and the opera) but seek escape from the vibe of the tourist zones. The bedroom is in the back part of the apartment, ensuring a good night's sleep. The bed, by the way was VERY comfortable. Everything you would expect to find in an apartment of this caliber is there, from a large TV with many english language channels to minor things like soap, detergents, tissues, toilet paper, basic spices and plastic wrap. I must also mention that the apartment "manager", Graciela, beside being a delightful woman, responded immediately and effectively to any minor concerns which we had. When the cable/WiFi went down one day she somehow managed to have TWO separate technicians at the apartment the next day and was there both times to make sure the problem (which it turned out was with the central cable network, not the apartment itself) got resolved.
The main bathroom had recently undergone a significant renovation and drainage of the tub and sink weren't what they should be . A final observation would suggest that the apartment is quite perfect for a couple or a family with children but somewhat less so for two couples traveling together as the second bathroom is quite small, as are the second and third bedrooms. That said, we loved getting back to the apartment after a long day "on the town" and had a most delightful stay there. We would return in a heartbeat.
