Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday cottage in Honfleur - La Bouveterie
4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps 8
'La Bouveterie' is a delightful, traditional 16thC half-timbered cottage and barn in the beautiful Valley d'Ingres in an unspoilt and quiet semi-rural location, within 5 minutes walk of the village of La Riviere St Sauveur which has bakers, butcher, pharmacy, general store, restaurants, newsagent and post office. A pretty, secure and spacious garden surrounds the property. The cottage is ideally placed in the Pays d'Auge region of Calvados for exploring the historic areas of Northern France. This area is at the heart of Normandy's 3 particular delights - cider, Calvados and cheese, of which Camembert is the most famous. Nearby are lovely sandy beaches and picturesque villages. Access to Honfleur from the main channel ports is both fast and easy via a quiet motorway network. Also Paris is just a 2 hour drive. Honfleur is, without doubt, the jewel of Normandy's coast. It has quaint cobbled streets, quayside restaurants and bars, art galleries and museums, a marina, and 2 public gardens.
Garden and barn: In the garden store, there is a freezer and a spare fridge together with plenty of garden chairs, sun loungers, sunbeds, parasols, bicycles and games. Upstairs in the barn is a very large games room ( accessed through the garden store) with table tennis, darts, table football and seating - an ideal indoor play area for children and adults alike! The pretty garden surrounding the property has well maintained lawns and borders and a brick barbecue. There are several garden tables for 'al fresco' dining. There is ample parking in the drive plus undercover parking for 2 cars.
Places to visit and things to do.: Deauville and Trouville are the nearest seaside resorts with vast sandy beaches - absolutely ideal for children. There is also a beach in Honfleur.
Bayeux - the first major town to be liberated on 6 June 1944 and famous for its 70m long tapestry housed in its own museum. Arromanches - the famous Mulberry harbour can be seen here along with many other D Day memorials.
Dives sur mer - William the Conqueror assembled his fleet here before setting sail for England. The town has a magnificent wooden market hall (Les Halles), dating from the C16th. Etretat- a seaside resort endowed with natural beauty. Monet painted his observations of the coastline here. Rouen - a city of great antiquity with the Gros Horloge medieval clock. Also within 2 hours drive are Monet's garden at Giverny, Paris and Mont St Michel.
A drive through the 'Suisse Normande' is a very pleasant trip. There is an information box at the property containing numerous leaflets on things to do and places to go in addition to the above ideas.
Bedding: Duvets and pillows are supplied but guests are asked to bring their own bed linen, towels and kitchen linen. For protection, all bed linen is covered and we ask that this is left on and clients' linen is put on top.
A highchair and cot are available for infants.

About Mr and Mrs G Aldridge
As a family we live in the Sevenoaks area so getting to Honfleur via the tunnel is fast and easy so a very well located property for us.
Mr and Mrs G Aldridge purchased this cottage in 2001
Why Mr and Mrs G Aldridge chose Honfleur
We had a holiday at La Bouveterie in 1999 and when it became available to buy we couldn't resist buying it and have loved it ever since.
What makes this cottage unique
We think the location is ideal. We can walk into the village in a few minutes and drive into wonderful Honfleur in under 10 minutes - cycling into town is an option too. The property is situated off a country lane with lovely views. Travelling further afield is very easy too via a good motorway network.
