A short drive from the airport, yet close to town, this luxurious estate is sure to put a smile of satisfaction on your face. You have arrived!

Generous personal space, exquisite, great, breathtaking; these are some of the thoughts that will run through your mind as you approach and enter your private Kona Heavens Hideaway. You'll feel securely surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells of this tropical paradise. Here you will find an environment that nurtures you with the indigenous feel of the Island. Traditional conventions are re-evaluated so that the fusion of nature with furnishings crafted from renewable and sustainable sources will reward all of your senses.

I can deliver an array of therapy options; Swedish, Craino Sacral, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Neuromuscular, Myofascial Alignment, Healing treatments, or just good old fashion pampering, all with a serene and reassuring professionalism from 20 years of practice.

Getting hungry? Cooking outdoors in the covered kitchen, or using the barbecue are alternatives to the many wonderful fine dining restaurants in the area.

The sunsets are spectacular and the starlit skys are awesome -- especially when enjoyed from the soothing spa.

Come, enjoy the Kona Heavens Hideaway as your home away from home.

About Sandra

Aloha,

My name is Sandra and I have lived in Kona since 1970. I came from California in search of a clean beach to lay on while deciding what major to take in college. Well, as it turned out, I stayed - never went back - and have loved living here ever since. I have traveled the world and must say 'there is no place like home'. When my children grew up and moved away I discovered that this home was too big for just me, so I made a vacation retreat of the downstairs portion, which includes the pool and yard and I'm so very happy to share this precious, peaceful place with visitors and share my knowledge of the Island as requested. I look forward to meeting you.

Sandra purchased this house in 1997

Why Sandra chose Kailua Kona

This particular area of Kona is perfect as far as climate and location. I have lived in many different areas of the Island, and this location is, by far, the BEST.

It's at 900 ft. elevation, which allows the great views and the temperate climate. Coastal living can be very hot in Hawaii, while we are enjoying soft trade winds to keep the temperatures perfect. I also love this location because there are approximately 12 world class golf courses within a short drive, and the harbor is just 3 miles away, the launching place for many water activities. We are on one full acre of lush flora and fauna, with no neighbors below us, which gives us all the privacy you could ask for.

What makes this house unique

If you choose to stay home one day and forego the many close, exciting, fun activities that the Big Island has to offer, this is what a typical day may look like. . . Wake up to the lovely sounds of many song birds, lounge around the private pool and soak up the warming rays of the sun while awaiting your turn for an incredible, nurturing, relaxing massage by one of Kona's most experienced and well trained medical Massage Therapists (me : )). Leisurely prepare some breakfast in the outdoor kitchen while enjoying melodious Hawaiian music piped out to the pool area as the palms gently sway and the wind chimes sing to entertain you. IF you feel like going for a little walk, take hold of the fruit pickers and roam around the acre; you may find avacados, mangos, papaya, banana, zapote, cherimoya and much more / help yourself.

Owner's Response: Aloha Shah, Thank you for your kind words; please come again. I hear from so many people that this place is even better than the pictures, but I'm not a photographer and it's difficult to capture "comfort" and "exquisite" in pictures. I'm happy your family had a good Kona experience and I was able to accommodate you. Much Aloha and Mahalo Sandra

Wonderful owner, average accomodations

  • 3 of 5

I must start by saying that Sandra the owner was warm and helpful prior to and throughout our stay. The accommodations were a bit of a disappointment. My wife and I stayed here with two teenagers. While the hot tub is wonderful the pool is not heated so even though we stayed in mid-March it was very cold and not usable. The master bedroom being combined with the only TV and living area was a bummer and makes the unit feel cramped even though there is a decent amount of square footage. Additionally, the 2nd bedroom is not attached to the main unit. You need to go outside to get to the very small 2nd bedroom that has no TV. Our teenage daughter was not comfortable going outside at night and other than sleeping the 2nd unit really cannot be used for anything. The outdoor kitchen is extremely over rated. Even though we were very careful about any crumbs or food droppings as well as keeping all our food either in closed containers or in the fridge there were some large, nasty bugs we came across in the kitchen. Additionally, the kitchen does not have an oven or dishwasher.

Lastly, while the owners were very good about respecting our privacy they live right on top of the rental unit. On the days we stayed in the unit and relaxed we could hear them every time they flushed the upstairs toilet or walked across the floor above us. If you are using the pool, hot tub or poolside tables and they are out on their patio on the 2nd floor they are literally right above you and you can hear them and they can hear you.

In our opinion this is not a good unit for families with anything other than fully grown kids.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. Suggestions are always welcome. The living room / bedroom is 20 ' by 40 ' . Quite spacious. We've had as many as 12 guests at one time who all had a fabulous vacation. The temperature of the pool is comfortable year round.. All winter guests have been enjoying the pool and hot tub. While the bedroom with 2 twins is connected to the house, one must take 4 strides along the side of the house, on a well lit walkway to get into the house. This is the tropics and the bugs will come into the kitchen when the lights are left on all night. And it's true that my patio is over part of the pool area, creating a nice shelter for the outdoor kitchen. But while I have guests I do NOT use that patio. I am extremely concerned with the privacy of my guests; I see it as my job to protect their privacy. Almost every guest comments on how quiet this little piece of paradise is. Out of 99, there will be 1 disgruntled. Sad for that 1.

Absolute Peace and Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week at Sandra's gorgeous hillside home overlooking Kona. Sandra greeted us and let us know that she was there if we needed anything at all, but then she afforded us complete privacy during our stay. It was so quiet and peaceful and the perfect way to end a busy day. The hot tub was wonderful after a day of diving and exploring! The apartment is spacious and well-equipped. It was fun to be able to cook and eat a meal outside surrounded by the sounds of nature. The house is convenient to just about everything you would want to do and grocery stores are close by. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to take advantage of Sandra's massage services. We are already looking forward to visiting again next year. Thank you Sandra for sharing your home with us!

fresh papaya

  • 5 of 5

Pleasant stay in a roomy apartment with all items provided for needs. We loved having fresh papaya from the tree. Nothing like having fruit that fresh! The fact that Sandra did the landscape work and planted all of those trees and bushes over the past 25 years was pretty amazing.

The outdoor kitchen is a brilliant idea and Sandra's is well supplied. We enjoyed sitting at the table and looking out at the ocean, far below. The home is well situated for shopping at Costco, Safeway, Target etc. as well as to take trips north and south on the island. We loved the huge bathroom with large shower. All worked well.

Sandra's artwork throughout the apartment was much appreciated.

We definitely recommend a stay at Sandra's relaxing Kona apartment.

Perfect Kona Vacation

  • of 5

I usually plan our vacations as a stress reliever after a particularly hard day. I was attracted to this property because the photos made it look so tranquil and relaxing. I can honestly say that the photos matched reality. The home is beautiful as is the view looking down the mountain and out into the ocean.

This was so much better than renting a condo in a large vacation property because of the sense of privacy and personal space, yet we had the pool, lush gardens, and spa like facilities. We loved the outdoor kitchen and dining along with the openness of the main living area. Property is close to beaches, shopping, and dining and had no problem making a short drive to get to any of those.

This was my first time back to the Big Island in quite some time and changed the way I will plan future trips to Hawaii.

sunshine, privacy, and beautiful memories.

  • 5 of 5

Only 10 days since we left Kona, and I've been wishing myself back to Sandra's beautiful 'Villa' on every one of them. The sunshine, the privacy, and so very many beautiful memories. Relaxing in the hot-tub while I enjoy a beautiful sunset, our grown daughter and grandson playing badminton in the yard, Jim preparing dinner in the outdoor kitchen - how could life get any better!

Public tennis courts, many world class golf courses, great shopping and many ocean sports available close to home.

Kona is known for its world-class marlin fishing. We are almost directly above Honokohau Harbor which has a fun restaurant for lunch and is also where the fishing charters and many other ocean activities (sunset sails, manta ray snorkleing and diving cruises, zodiak tours, whale watching etc.) are based. There are some wonderful white sand beaches and tide pool areas within a 10 or 15 minute drive. Costco is also just about a 5 minute drive and is a great place to stock up for your vacation and it is usually the most economical place to buy gas.
