Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday chalet in Zermatt - Haus Millennium

Large bedroom, spacious living area & kitchen, bathroom, terrace, sleeps up to 4

Our Millennium Haus flat is modern, light and airy (64 sq. m.) and unlike many flats offered in Zermatt, has DIRECT road access - NO long flights of stairs to climb! Built in 2000 it is in a quiet location with uninterrupted views south to the Matterhorn from the bedroom, living room & terrace. 'Talk about a room with a view-this is terrific!' wrote a guest, we are a 5 minute walk (2 minute in a taxi) from the Sunnegga lift. The spacious modern living area includes a large sofa bed plus cable HDTV, DVD, CD stereo, the dining area has a large circular table and it has a fully fitted kitchen with all amenities including a dishwasher. The bedroom has a double bed with lots of storage and the bathroom has a combined bath and a shower to wake you up! Heating for the apartment is under floor. In addition, the house has a ski room with boot drier . Outside is a large south facing patio area with table and chairs and lawn. For those who need to stay in touch, we have a fast broadband WiFi connection

Great Deals on Ski Rentals & Lessons: We have negotiated for you a discount on ski rentals of 10% (credit card)

Non Skiers, Poor Days...: Zermatt is a fantastic skiing resort with hundreds of kilometres of skiing in Zermatt, Cervinia and Valtournenche. But it also has good facilities for non skiers - most of the mountain pathways are kept fully open in Winter so walkers can arrange to meet the skiers at your favourite restaurant! There is indoor swimming, outdoor skating and curling rinks as well as tobogganing - great fun when the weather is a bit iffy! Plus a village which offers historic walks daily, an Alpine Mountain Museum and take a horse drawn carriage tour.

You can now buy a ski pass which allows you to take days off!

Restaurants and Apres Ski: We know of no other resort with such a wide variety of excellent restaurants both on and off the mountain, Zum See has been voted best mountain restaurant and many others offer a fantastic variety of mouth-watering menu's. The hamlet of Findeln just below Sunnegga offers many great little stubli's such as Franz & Heidi's, Chez Vrony, Paradies, Reid etc. - you will not be disappointed.

In the evening Zermatt has scores of excellent venues for eating Swiss traditional fare plus French, Italian, Mexican, Thai, Japanese, Greek etc. and after your meal there’s an excellent nightlife in places such as the Pollux, Moods, Elsie’s and the Pink Elephant often with live music.

The Telegraph sums it up in its Ski Supplement (8th October 05) 'Best mountain restaurants in the world, which explains the lack of will to ski after lunch. Lunch in Chez Vrony, Zum See or any other of a dozen other mountain restaurants is a gastronomic experience without parallel.

About Silvia Robinson

Hi, I am Swiss, but lived in the UK for many years, we now live in central Switzerland and have been coming to Zermatt for more than 20 years.

Silvia Robinson purchased this chalet in 2000

Why Silvia Robinson chose Zermatt

When we stood on the piece of land where Millennium now stands, were were immediately taken by its great position and peaceful location - far enough outside the village, for a quiet location, but close enough to easily walk into the village and also to the Sunnegga ski lift which is the fastest route onto the mountain. We thought it was the perfect location.

What makes this chalet unique

Our location provides a great view of the Matterhorn from both the bedroom and living area and we are on the sunny side of the village. It is a small house with only 3 other apartments and it has direct access from the road, so no long sets of stairs to climb!

Millenium House rental!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Millenium House apartment for our recent girls ski vacation. It was fantastic! It was furnished with everything you will need...great views and close proximity to the lifts and downtown. Wireless internet allowed us to easily stay in touch with out families.

The apartment was spotless, very modern and had a great layout. If there was anything we needed, we had a contact person nearby and we were able to contact them very easily. The radiant flooring was incredible, at times just a little too warm inside. We just opened some windows and let the fresh air in...and it was fine. Bring light pajamas!

We really enjoyed all that Zermatt had to offer, from skiing, hiking, touring around and shopping there is something for everyone here. The apres ski huts were lots of fun at the end of the day.

I would highly recommend this property to anyone that is heading out to Zermatt! Mark and Silvia were wonderful in booking this trip.

A very happy family!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was perfect from the start. The owners were very helpful in planning our vacation. They sent us a package with all the information we could possibly need. The check-in process was easy, the apartment was exactly as described: quiet, equipped with all you need, well-situated for our family of 4 very intense skiers. The restaurants on the mountain are excellent, the electric taxis efficient. We reserved a ski guide (recommended by Silvia) to show us around and were we ever happy that we did! He showed us the best spots on the mountain with powder up to our knees in the woods and on the glacier! I would definitely rent this apartment again. Thank you for such a great time! We just hope to be back very soon.

Haus Millennium Review

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented the apartment for two weeks to use as a base for hiking the Zermatt area and higher huts. We found the place to be a truly a home away for us. We enjoyed the area and apartment we extended the rent after 2 weeks. The apartment is very comfortable and was everything the owners stated and others reviews also said. We are both foodies and like to cook and found the small kitchen to be very workable for a nice meal. We found the coop in Zermatt to have good produce and meat at very reasonable prices. Very good swiss wine was available in the wine store adjacent to Migros market. Dining out in Zermatt is like most mountain towns except in seemed every place had the same menu. One exception is the Walliserstube (just down the street), Very much worth going there. Andreas had a large variety cuisine including some or the best chicken curry I have had.

The apartment is a easy walk to town and after a day hiking a short 10 minutes from the coop up a slight hill that even with wine and groceries is no big deal.

We were spoiled by the instant heat hot water and water pressure that has to be experienced to believe.

High quality stay in Zermatt

  • 5 of 5

Mark and Silvia's apartment was a terrific place for us to spend two weeks in Zermatt. It is of very high quality with heated floors, very fast internet, satellite TV, a modern kitchen (with dishwasher, oven, microwave, ventilation), a large-sized bathtub (fantastic for soaking after a full day of skiing) and facilities for drying and storing your ski boots. The bedroom was very comfortable with a cozy Swiss feel, and there was ample room for storing all of our clothes/ski stuff. Plus, both the bedroom and the living room have a fantastic view of the Matterhorn (the picture shown is from the living room angle). There is no access to the laundry facilities in the building, but if you're only staying for a week, it shouldn't be a problem. Walking wise, the apartment is about a 7-10 minute walk from the center of Zermatt and it's a bit up the hill, but we didn't mind walking the route as it gave us some extra exercise and it was totally worth it for the view. My husband and I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it for other couples.

Wonderful accomodations, far from our ski area

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was really nice, updated and comfortable for our family of 4. There was a big refrigerator and all the cooking appliances and utensils you should need. The owners were very friendly and provided a lot of very helpful information including good ski schools, good restaurants, ski storage, etc. The only problem for us is that our 5 and 6 year old children were enrolled in ski school that met at the Klein Matterhorn area each day (northern part of town), so we walked down and up the hill each day (about 10-15 minutes with ski boots) and then took the free bus over to the lift area. A taxi ride each way ran about 20-30 CHF, so we walked most days. It took us about 45 minutes between the walk and bus ride to get them to ski school each day. But if you plan to start your skiing from the Sunnega funicular each day, the apartment is very convenient.

All in all we loved the accomodations and would recommend the apartment to others to enjoy. We woke up each morning and with the push of a button the shutters would open up to a great view of the Matterhorn. The underfloor heating was also a nice touch. Great place, just a little far from where we needed to be each day.

Ein wunderschöner Wanderurlaub

  • 5 of 5

Millennium Haus is in the North East part of Zermatt village. Property number 1509 in square E2 of the village map - go to www.zermatt.ch & search for village map - beware some properties advertised as Zermatt are actualliy in Tasch, access to it is by walking or electro taxi, the apartment has direct road access, and only one step. (unlike many) Zermatt is part of the Valais Alps in the south of Switzerland at an altitude of 1,600m. and is a car-free resort. Access for private transport is only allowed as far as Tasch (5km from Zermatt).Lots of parking in Täsch from £5 per day. A taxi service runs 24 hours and shuttle train runs every 20 minutes. There is a car park with free parking for 100 cars in Visp (27km from Zermatt) for people travelling by train from here to Zermatt. Geneva to Zermatt is about 3 hours by car (allowing for parking in Tasch) and takes around 4 hours by rail. You can also fly to Zurich, Basel, Berne and Milan Malpensa (transfer by train only in win

Golf: Golf is available in the summer, down the valley at the Matterhorn course in Tasch. Its a new 9 hole course which is interesting with great views, if a little lacking in distance and the par 3, over the river Vispa is a super short hole.

Further afield if you have a car, there are courses at Leuk about forty minutes and the Swiss Open course at Crans Montana (handicap limits) about an hour You are also only an hour and a half from the Italian Lakes and there are several excellent courses around Lago Maggiore.

Ski: We were told 'once you've skied Zermatt you'll just keep coming back'... they were right. 'Serious skiing territory-fabulous for advanced & intermediate and perfect for those who want to lap up the atmosphere of one of the most vibrant ski resorts in the world' (D Telegraph 08.10.05)

You can ski up to 3800+ metres, it has Europe's largest summer ski area and plenty of snowmaking to keep the runs to the village topped up. This usually ensures excellent skiing from late November to the end of April.

Zermatt has 3 ski areas, Sunnegga, Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn with 33 lifts in total. Ski Europe offers a good independent summary of the skiing (please, contact owner for link). It offers pistes for everyone but is best for intermediates and upward.

Once you’ve “done” Zermatt, you can ski over to Italy and experience Cervinia and Valtournenche via the Klein Matterhorn.

In total there is over 394 km. of pistes in the area at high altitude with runs to challenge every ski
