Located in Zone 2 of Central London's Underground Network, there's lots to do and see. Getting around Town: With so much to see, we have excellent transport arrangements.
Traveling around town is a breeze, literally. The River Bus operates during commuter hours and there's also the Central London Underground, particularly the Jubilee Line. So one can be wisked off to pastures new, in minutes.
Nearby there’s Canary Wharf, Greenwich, The Tower of London and Tower Bridge. It's the cheapest tube fare for town and very easy to reach everywhere in town from one of 3 local train stations, all part of the Central London Underground Network. It all depends on which direction of town you wish to travel to.
Also, there are Red London Buses, (Pick up point is right outside the square) Black London taxies, or the River bus which picks up from Canary Wharf Pier every 15 minutes. This is my favourite method.Travel up river to Westminster Pier, stopping at Tower Bridge Pier, then the Embankment (for the London Eye) or down river to Greenwich.(Royal Parks and Museums) The 3 local tube stations are 'South Quay' and 'Crossharbour' or 'Canary Wharf' on either the DLR Line or the Jubilee Line. both part of the Central London Underground Network.
I must not forget our local “Boris Bikes”, so named after our flamboyant Major of London. It was his initiative to install these bike docks all over town, possibly every half mile you will find one. Just £1 buys you half an hour’s bike travel. Then dock the bike somewhere else in town. The first half hour is free, so if you are smart you could cycle for 25 minutes, park the bike, wait 6 minutes and then take another bike for the next phase of your journey. 30 minutes covers a lot of ground in busy London streets. Cars are required to purchase a ticket to cover the congestion charge of £8.50 per day. Consequently, there are less cars in town. There are clearly defined cycle lanes everywhere and its very popular.
We can accept bookings direct., by credit card, (VISA or MasterCard.) or on line with this listing via credit card. Also, by English cheque or bank transfer.
To hold the dates you require, we take a £200 deposit and then the balance becomes due 2 months before your arrival. We supply our guests with a confirmation of booking document which confirms all the aspects of the booking and the accommodation. Nearer the time of arrival we supply our guests with general directions from each of London’s airports and main hub train stations.
We hope you will get in touch, a quotation for your stay is quick and we would love to hear from you.

About Ms. Christine James
Hello everyone, having worked in London from a young age, I grew accustomed to travelling in and around London and after a few years I chose to settle as a single business woman in this vibrant area of London. They were very exciting times with marbled skyscrapers popping up everywhere and new restaurants to try and new transport links. I drove into town each day and found that this was a convenient location with a wow factor of the river frontage. With off street private parking at the house and the area full of local attractions, this was indeed a find.
Then I met my Partner, he lived in the Midlands of England, so I duly moved. However, not wishing to part with this lovely house the idea came to me to rent for short periods. Thus, I would have a foot in the area when I wished to visit. I have family in the area and so this arrangement has proved to be very beneficial to all, sharing the wonderful views and tranquil waters with my new and returning guests.Check out the Special rates apply for same month bookings, where dates are still free.
Ms. Christine James purchased this house in 1997
Why Ms. Christine James chose Canary Wharf and Docklands
This house struck me as soon as I cast eyes on it. I was not looking to move but immediately had to buy it. It has been a very happy place to live and now my guests can enjoy the ever changing river views and wildlife.
My local housekeeper looks after it for me and we both work hard to ensure our guests are made as comfortable as possible.
The business has blossomed over time, so after a time we found we were turning away guests, so we purchased another property nearby, this time a two bed, two bath apartment which we also gained a 4* certificate for the comfort and self catering facilities.
The English Tourist Council, inspect each property every year and grade again. 4* certificate every time for each property. They also check that the current regulations are being adhered to and insurance is in place and that everything is as it should be for the Travel Industry.
I have been a member of their association for 10 years now. You will find our properties listed in their web pages on their site www.visitengland.com, through our 10 year association with them.
What makes this house unique
The unique benefits for this house are: Superb River views; local transport connections are excellent; local tourist attractions; good restaurants; quiet private location; quiet streets away from the main traffic areas; good bus service; local London Theatres; Royal London markets. Private off street Parking.
More recently, we now have the '02 Orena' for live concerts; the New 'Olympic Stadiums' and the supporting new shopping centre Westfield, at Stratford; not forgetting the new Bike Hire Service from outside the private square. Just £1 per half hour to travel across town and park the bike up somehwere else in another docking station.
Please visit our dedicated web site where we have posted lots of links to the main areas and attractions. www.vacationsinlondon.com I have seen many sights on the river, a beached Whale, a mother and daughter Dolphin lost, they swam by and ended up at Westminster Pier; the Queens Jubilee last year, all the magnificent tall ships sailed by to moor at the end of each day in Canary Wharf locks.
We have many returning guests each year and some of their reviews can be viewed here and on our own web site, noted above.
I hope to hear from you soon.
(Note: We offer 10% discount off the weekly rate for same month bookings! )
regards Christine James
Guestbook comments from the manager
I enjoyed my stay at your lovely vacation home for our 10 days earlier this year. We all quickly adjusted to the busses, ferries and underground and were able to visit most all of the places we wanted to see including sights out of London such as Warwick Castle and Stonehenge. We enjoyed the Tower of London and Greenwich and found a number of restaurants and pubs to our liking. We shopped the grocery stores successfully, cooked 3 or 4 dinners and all our breakfasts in your efficient and pretty kitchen.
Your tour books, albums and notes were of great help and went a long way to getting us “into the picture” very quickly. It was so nice to have a home to come to at the end of our busy days. Arriving from a pretty warm California, I feel a little guilty about thoroughly enjoying the rain and snow, but it really didn’t stop our enjoyment one bit. We were able to see Billy Elliott one evening with perfect 4th row seats purchased at the last minute that day. On a couple of half-days, I elected to stay home to do a few chores and enjoy the view and watch various projects being worked on and just “kicked back” all by myself. It was lovely.
Thank you for your gracious help with our little queries. I surely would recommend your rental. I’d not been to East London before, but have read many novels describing how The Isle of Dogs used to be and marveled at the beauty it has become.
