Overview

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday chateau / country house in San Siro - Rivetta

Lake access, sauna, 3 bedrooms + 1 gallery with two beds, sleeps 8 people

Rivetta means small shore. This is an extremely pretty original fisherman's house, situated on the pebbled shore of Lake Como. The house sits just above the water, in the picturesque lake resort of San Siro, on the sunny west shore which has a particularly mild climate and one of the prettiest promenades of the entire lake. Rivetta is an outstanding house - a little lakeside gem, because the lake is just outside the door, and there is a lake view from every window. It has a well-accomplished interior with a youthful, elegant flair. Stylish wooden furniture in natural colours contrasts well with the coloured walls. A painted wooden boot adorns the kitchen ceiling. Outside you will find a BBQ area with table and chairs, and a wonderful view of the lake. (The lakefront is public, so it is possible that you may see an occasional walker or fisherman). Stone steps lead down to the water with rocks on the pebbled shore. Here you can glide into the water - not just in summer but perhaps also in winter - having a refreshing dip after the visit to the small sauna in the basement of the house.

The upper floor has a bright living room with many windows facing the lake, a bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, and two double bedrooms. One of the bedrooms has a loft with two single beds (perfect for children). In the basement with external entrance there is a pleasant surprise - a small sauna! ABOUT THE REGION

The village of San Siro is built on a rock, nestled up against the stone. Please be aware, there is no access to Rivetta by car. To reach the house, you must leave your car at the top of the village and walk through a narrow cobbled street and down 55 steps to the house (approximately 250 metres). The path can be slippery when wet, so this property is not suitable for elderly guests or anyone with walking problems, and please bring a pair of good walking shoes. A porter service is available to help with your luggage. In the pretty hamlet of San Siro you will find a pizzeria; grocery shops can be found two kilometres south. S. Siro has a bus stop. You can catch a bus or rent a boat here. Water sports facilities (boating, sailing, surfing) can be found nearby, and there are scenic trekking routes that begin at the lake. There are also many fine and beautiful golf courses in the lake area, and shoppers will love the designer fashion factory outlets available just over the border into Switzerland.

The closest lake ferry dock is in Menaggio, just 6 km south, where you will also find a golf course and tennis court. Switzerland and Europe's highest mountains lie just to the north. A drive (or boat ride) down the lake brings you to Como (40 km), famous for its production of fine silk. Elegance surrounds you in Como: beautiful architecture, elegant shops and stylish, wood-panelled cafés. Visit Bellagio (15 km by ferry), known as the pearl of the lake and considered one of the most beautiful towns in all of Europe. Day trips can be made by bus or car to Tremezzo (12 km) and Lugano, Switzerland (33 km). Milan is 90 km to the south.

Car: necessary

Please note: The Google Map shows only the approximate location.

San Siro is built on a rock, nestled up against the stone. The alleyways are narrow and winding. The visitor needs to park the car a little way from the village and walk the last few yards (approx. 250 m). This west shore has a particularly mild climate and one of the prettiest promenades of the entire lake. In the small village of San Siro you will find a a pizzeria and a bus stop. A grocery store is 2 km south. On shore of the lake there are water sports facilities (boat rental, sailing, surfing), and there are a number of scenic trekking routes that begin at the lake. Furthermore, San Siro is a pretty, antique hamlet where you can still feel the atmosphere of the ancient past and view the beautiful castle with arcades dating back to the year 1000. By the way - the best way to reach the long lake is not by car but by boat. Ferries will take you across to the other small lakeside towns, villages and islands. The next stop is at Menaggio, only 5 km from your house.

A stone staircase leading to the shore, where rock formations and pebbles succeed each other. Here you can slip into the water - not only in summer but perhaps even in winter - having a refreshing dip after a hot steam bath in the small sauna inside. The lakefront is public, not private - occasionally you may encounter walkers or fishermen.
