Overview

Overview

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cottage in Helford - Glebe Hall Cottages

Four individual cottages, total of 9 Bedrooms, 4 Bathrooms, Sleeping 18 in total

Attached to a substantial Georgian Coach House, Glebe Hall Cottages is made up of four individual cottages, Clipper, Cutter, Cloop & Schooner and are situated in a terrace, each cottage is set over three levels and are on the edge of the lovely, peaceful village of Mawgan, not far from the Helford, near the market town of Helston, in the South West of Cornwall. Close to the picturesque tidal creeks of the Helford River, the properties are set in two acres of secluded south facing terraced gardens bordered by farmland and the thickly wooded grounds of the historic Trelowarren Estate. Whether you choose to laze beside the heated pool (open End of May to September) or visit over 20 beautiful gardens - Glendurgan, Lost Grdens of Heligan, Trebah, Trevarno, Trelissick etc., walk the wonderful coastal paths or enjoy water sports on the nearby beaches and coves - this area of Cornwall has everything. Each Cottage comes fully equipped and all linen and towels are provided. Just across the lane is the Ship Inn, where you can enjoy great locally produced food.

FANTASTIC FOR FAMILY & FRIENDS GROUPS: Because the four cottages are arranged together in their own separate courtyard, they are ideal for groups - whether Family or Friends. Groups can have exclusive use of all the communal facilities - Swimming Pool, Games Room, Children's Play Area and the Beautiful Gardens, while returning to their own cottage space to relax at the end of another exciting day in this fabulous part of part of Cornwall *.

Taking all four cottages together provides nine bedrooms, and four bathrooms and can therefore provide Group accommodation for up to eighteen Adults and/or Children.

Since opening in 2004, Julian and Ali have seen an increase in Group bookings for School Reunions, Wedding

Parties and just regular get togethers of Family Friends - not just for one year, but repeat bookings for two, three and four years.

* Glebe Hall Cottages are in set within an officially designated 'AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY'.

A really friendly welcome and so grateful to Julian for his help with the doctor on a Sunday! Beautiful grounds - the children loved the pool and the games room. Many thanks to both of you!

Good location for exploring

  • 4 out of 5
The property is well situated for being able to explore the Lizard and the far west of Cornwall, was well appointed and comfortable for 4 of us. The village has a well stocked shop with local produce and is just down the road from a good pub with excellent food. We were made to feel very welcome and we all loved the games room and especially the swimming pool which being heated meant we could swim everyday (even the one evening it rained!).

Fantastic holiday

  • 4 out of 5
The spacious games room and pool could not be beat and were fully utilised by our three boys. The location is superb with beautiful coastal walks, gardens, beaches and attractions close by. This was our first visit to Cornwall and we can see why it is so popular as a holiday destination.

We were a party of six and stayed in Clipper cottage. Although the property sleeps six, it cannot accomodate dining indoors for six people together at the table due to limited space. Fortunately, most of the weather was fine and we were able to eat outside at the picnic table where there was more room and the added bonus of a bbq which we used often.

The owners Julian and Ali are friendly and accomodating. All in all a great holiday and we would come back again !!

Perfect base for walks in Cornwall

  • 4 out of 5
Recently renovated barn in a pastoral setting withing a short drive to spectacular walks on the north and south shores of Cornwall's Lizard and Landsend peninsulas. Well outfitted, comfortably equipped, though only one bathroom for three bedrooms. Delightful conservatory to eat meals when the air is cool, surrounded by well tended gardens, as well as foul from the neighboring farm. The hosts could not be more helpful and friendly.

October half term 2008

  • 5 out of 5
We stayed at Glebe Hall Cottages during the October Half Term holiday and were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Clipper Cottage after a long 6-hour journey. Our two young children settled in very quickly to their lovely bedrooms, and had great fun exploring the play area and games room. The owners were fantastic, they were able to provide stairgates and other baby-related items to make our stay worry-free. The kitchen is very well-equipped, we even cooked a roast dinner on Sunday! Our weather was not so kind unfortunately, but the cottage had plenty of space to dry out wet clothes, and store muddy boots. I would definitely recommend Glebe Hall Cottages to families with young children. The accommodation is very secure with gated access to the pool and car-parking areas which means children can play safely in the courtyard.
We visited many places during our stay, and would recommend Goonhilly, Treasure Park, the Maritime Museum at Falmouth and Dairyland (although that was further away than we thought and not ideal for a rainy day).
Do visit the local farm shop, it's well worth it for some unusual food items; and Helston is close by (about 10 minutes in the car); great for picking up the food essentials with a Somerfield, Tescos and Lidl.

Wondeful hosts, ideal to expore south Cornwall.

  • 4 out of 5
The hosts, Ali and Julian are extremely hospitable, friendly and helpful in giving ideas on what to do and explore in the area.

This is a wonderful central location from which to explore the south of Cornwall. Most attractions such as the absolutely amazing Trebah garden, St Michaels Mount, St Ives and many more, are within a short drive from the cottage, and attractions such as the Eden Project is only an hour's drive away.

Julian and Ali gladly lent us many useful baby items, such as a highchair, cot, toys etc which would have been difficult to take along on holiday.

I would have liked to make us of the lovely swimming area, but unfortunately the weather did not play along.

We had a wonderful time staying there.

One point to keep in mind however, is that the cottage is however not ideal for people with mobility problems since it is on three levels, and there are quite a few steps to climb.
