Carefully our house, originally buildet around 1850, was completely renovated in 2008. Originally a so-called “Bassena” house (running water only outside the flat), the apartments have been renovated intelligent, loving and superior to today's living standards. Top 7, formerly a so-called room-kitchen-cabinet flat consists now of four rooms: the former entrance / kitchen area was reclassified to an entrance, a spacious bathroom and separate toilet. Further there is a Dwelling-/Cookingarea (20sqm) and at least a spacious bedroom (25 sqm). From a substandard apartment so generously acting, a modern apartment has been created. This effect is reinforced by minimalistic but aestheticly high quality furnishings. Ideally for 2 persons, this apartment is capable also for up to 4 people by providing extra beds.

About Christian Droste

My name is Christian Droste, I was born in 1964. I live in this building since I was born. I am a freelance artist and musician. My wife Natalia and I run our holiday apartments since the summer of 2009.

Why Christian Droste chose Vienna City Center

Our house, a 160-year-old 'Gründerzeithaus' comes from family. My grandfather, he was a blacksmith, had his workshop here and lived here also. It is the center of our living and the center of our work. Workshop, gallery, hotel, office.

What makes this apartment unique

I was born here and I grew up here in this house. It's my belly and my brain and I love it with my whole heart. Our building is a 160 year old lady with a lot of charm in one of the most beautiful districts of Vienna.

Excellent weekend in Vienna

We just came back from our 3 days trip to Vienna where we stayed in the apartment 7. We were very impressed by the venue. The apartment is very spacious, clean and very well looked after. Location is probably the best you can find for this price - only 20 min walk to the Stephansplatz and less than 5 min walk to the nearest metro station. Christian is extremely friendly and helpful person who will always meet and greet you as appropriate. So highly recommended and next time will certainly chose the same venue during my trip to Vienna.

Perfect choice for our weekend break

We made a quick decision to book this apartment for a weekend break. The location is great for public transport and only a short walk in to town. The apartment is very spacious with a nice mix of modern and retro and some original artwork. Nice friendly neighbourhood with restaurants, shops, supermarket etc close by. Christian was extremely helpful in all aspects, assisting us with transportation from the airport, suggestions for restaurants etc. Thoroughly recommended.

Wonderful apartment!!

We stayed in vienna over our thanksgiving holiday and this apartment was fantastic. We were in top 7 and my parents were in top 5 which worked out great because we had our privacy but were on the same floor. Christian was so helpful having a baby bed set up for us when we arrived and arranging a taxi to the airport. He also as great at answering any questions and we had access to the washing machine. Our apartment had a towel warmer and the tile in the bathroom was heated which was great! Everything was spotless and comfortable. The walk to the square got a bit tiresome so we started using the subway which was only a few blocks away. Great apartment and wonderful owner. Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic stay in Vienna - Thanks Christian

What an incredible apartment! What a friendly owner - who is so eager to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

From the time I corresponded with Christian (owner) by email - I had a sense that we were in good hands. The pictures on the Internet although excellent, do not do full justice to the loft apartment. It has been redone and furnished with a very artistic touch. Magnifique! It has common things that you would normally have to buy on arrival - such as sugar etc.

It feels like home to come back to this apartment after a long day of sightseeing. Many times better than a hotel room. The children and we sat in the large living are and watched movies on the chill out day.

The location is excellent, in a very nice part of town, 1.5 blocks to the subway (which we used extensively). It is also possible to walk very easily to the center of town. Just a few blocks away there is a very nice shopping area complete with local restaurants. The grocery store is just 100 m on the right side. Parking is very secure in the courtyard. Wifi is incredibly fast and reliable.

We would love to come back and stay longer in this beautiful city and apartment.

Perfect apartment for the family!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this wonderful apartment. The space is wonderfully laid out- bright, airy, spacious. It looks even better than it does on the pictures. Everything you need is there and Christian, the landlord, was very helpful and kind. He even had a small child's bed made-up for our 6 year old son. The location provided easy access to most sights and was only 2 blocks from the U-Bahn. We walked everywhere. The parking was also a great convenience for us. I would suggest this apartment to all of my friends and family!

A great place to stay in Vienna

This is a very comfortable, nicely decorated, and super quiet apartment. It offered everything that we needed for our stay. It is conveniently located and within walking distance to many of Vienna's major attractions. A major subway and tram stop is just a few minutes walk away. There is also a very nice local outdoor market close by and some really good restaurants within that particular neighborhood. We highly recommend this apartment.

Our apartments are located in the 2nd quarter at the “Karmeliterviertel”, only a stone's throw away from the historical city center (10 min walk). In 5 minutes you can walk to the beautiful Augarten, to relax or just visite the world famous Augarten china factory. Also nearby is the Danube Canal, which has developed into a boulevard with nice beach bars and restaurants. We should also mention the Karmelitermarkt - a meeting place for young and old, with it´s weekly Saturday farmers' market, with countless austrian organic cheese, meat and vegetable dishes and many other delicacies. Again, there are many good restaurants, bars and meeting places that are frequented by artists, all kind of people. In the Wiener Prater children and parents find traditional “Rummel” and modern attractions side by side. This is the special charm of the Prater. We have also some museums in our district. We do not write here about all the atractions of the historical center because the are known worldwide.
