TIGNES - COMFORTABLE SKI APARTMENTS, VERY CLOSE TO LIFTS & PISTE

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Tignes le Lavachet - Le Homeclub

Well equipped self catering ski apartments all in same building

The apartments are in a large residence that looks out over the village of Le Lavachet, which is an ideal location for easy skiing. Access to the slopes is by chair lift directly from the village (about 50 metre walk) and you can ski straight back to the door of the residence!! There are numerous shops and restaurants in the village, and a 24 hour free bus service to the other villages in Tignes. We have wonderful views from the apartments. The north-facing ones have a view right across the valley of the Lac de Chevril dominated by the beautiful peak of the Grande Sassiere. The large south facing apartments have a view of Tignes and the glacier on the Grande Motte. All apartments are modern and well furnished. They are all fully equipped to a high standard.

The Skiing and Boarding: The apartment is situated in Tignes in the best mountain ski area in France, the Espace Killy, which links Val d'Isere and Tignes. The village of Le Lavachet offers a supermarket several bars and restaurants 2 lifts to whisk you up to the slopes and a regular bus service to link you with the other areas of Tignes. It is ideal for intermediates and advanced skiers, although beginners are well catered for, offering a learning area where they can be a part of the scene right in the centre of the village. The Grande Motte glacier offers skiing right through into early May. Take the opportunity to take a second ski trip late season when there is fantastic snow and the slopes are virtually empty.

There is a first class boarder park in Tignes and also in Val d'Isere.

The Golf: The golf in summer is on the Par 68 5000 yard course situated on the meadowed slopes of Tignes. Situated at 2100 metres it is the highest golf course in Europe. The experience of playing golf at this height is amazing as the balls fly for forever due to the thinner air. The wildlife of wild goats and marmots also provide a difference from the local golf course, but best of all are the natural hazards.

Hi Clem

Many thanks for the use of your apartment. We had a fantastic week.

Our children really enjoyed your DVDs on the two afternoons when visibility

was zero and only lunatics were out on the slopes.

TIGNESLOVE is a privately run business run by Clem & Pete Upton renting out our own ski apartments. We started with our first apartment 24 years ago in 1992 and added another apartment in 1999, 2001, 2003 & 2005 & 2007. We have many years experience of providing clients with a comfortable well equipped apartments so that you can enjoy your holiday without any worries about your accommodation. We have many regular clients who return year after year, proof that our apartments provide excellent accommodation.

Mrs Clemency Upton purchased this apartment in 1992

Le Lavachet is a village of Tignes 2100 right in the heart of the ski area. The apartments are in a large modern apartment building with good access to the pistes (50 metre walk to the path to ski down to the lifts) and then ski back to the front door.

We chose Tignes because it has a superb snow record and the longest season in the French Alps starting from November and finishing in the middle of May. It has the Grande Motte glacier at 3250 metres which allows skiing at ll times even if the snow cover is low in other resorts.

TIGNESLOVE IS THE RIGHT NAME

  • 5 out of 5
Great apartment, very clean and well equiped. Owners are on hand and really care about their clients, the personal touch makes all the difference. The location is quiet, but not remote, spectacular views, ski in and ski out if you cross the road. Le Brassero was difficult to ski past though, you might even get to hear Pete play the bongos! The beer and food are great too. We went paragliding which was fun and worth a try. Tignes is a fantastic place to ski, we went to every corner of Tignes and Val d'Isere both on and off piste and would recommend the resort as a destination for all abilities. I have no hesitation in recommending you to stay in Clem and Pete's apartments, you won't go wrong if you do.

GREAT APARTMENT

  • 5 out of 5
Great apartment - big enough for our family of four. Clem provided lots of useful information.

Local facilities were good and the suggested ski hire shop excellent: quality gear and friendly staff.

Tignes is fantastic. The buses are easy into the centre or it is possible to ski down to the lavachet lifts.

We'd return.

HOME CLUB APARTMENT

  • 5 out of 5
This is a very nice, well appointed, clean apartment in a lovely village, and Clem is really helpful. It is ideally located- you can ski back to the front door and the bus stops right outside to take you to Tignes Le Lac or Val Clarat (It's not far anyhow and we walked most of the time). The skiing is fantastic with loads of places to go on the Espace Killy pass. Lavachet is great too with a good grocers where you can get everything, top bakers, and loads of bars, all with really friendly people and about 100 yards from the front door. We had a great time and will be back.

TIGNES APARTMENT 188

  • 4 out of 5
Well located and well equipped apartment for a great holiday in an excellent ski area. Apartment proved very comfortable for our family of four and self catering was easy with the local supermarket less than a minutes walk away. Access to lifts was good, requiring only a very short walk and it was possible to ski right back to the apartment car park. Overall highly recommended. Dave & Angie

RELAXING WELL LOCATED APARTMENT

  • 5 out of 5
It did help that I was given a last minute free upgrade to this apartment that is much more spacious than the one I was to rent. Thanks for that Clem!
The bunks are in an alcove which make them feel less corridor-ish, and having a door into the sitting room to cut off some of the noise and light when I was up later than the kids, although some noise comes through he serving hatch.
The kitchen had more than the usual amount of equipment and crockery and everything worked well. The DVD player and flat screen were lovely, and the baby sitter (which I arranged separately) liked having the Wi-Fi.
The ski locker is a bit cramped but it is handy having it downstairs (you have to go down a few steps and wind around a bit to get to it from the front entrance).
The balcony was lovely and sunny.
All local facilities were nice and close, and it is a very easy (green and pisted though not a piste) ski back to the apartment block. You can ski down to the lifts from opposite the bus stop. Buses run frequently to the rest of Tignes.
The local Sherpa food shop has a great selection, even for special diets. We found tofu, soya milk, dairy-free cream, nutritional yeast flakes, soya yogurt and custard, amongst many other vegan-friendly products, including a great range of fresh fruit and vegetables, some of which were organic.
A selection of ski hire shops and the lift pass shops are also near by, as is the bus stop. The only noise you get is from others in this huge apartment block. So that is luck of the draw in terms of who is next door or loud in the corridors / on balconies. The floors are solid and thick so there is not much vertical noise travel.
It would be great if Tignes could sort out its dog poo problem though - it's everywhere! All the same Tignes is my favourite resort for both family and expert skiing. I heartily recommend the Ultimate Ski School - a small British school with small class sizes which the kids excelled in.
The owner was in resort and very responsive by text if we had any problems. We had a fabulous holiday and would love to stay there again.

TIGNES

  • 5 out of 5
The apartment was great, just what we wanted. We are a family of 6 so our 2 eldest boys slept in the lounge using the sofa beds whilst the 2 youngest blagged the bunks! And our separate double room was a welcome retreat after dinner to read books and catchup on our emails using the inclusive wifi.

The apartment was clean and tidy when we arrived and everything worked as described. We loved the Piste Map on the wall as it meant we could plan our ski-ing in the evening for some long trips across to Val the next day. The ski-ing is excellent and we had great snow and sun. The whole resort area caters well for beginners through to advanced. You can also ski the Val d'Isere region.

Throughout our booking and our subsequent stay Clem, the owner couldn't have been more helpful. When we got there we bumped into her (lovely to meet you, Clem) and she helped familiarise us with Le Lavachet. Although tucked away at the furthest point from the ski-ing centre the area is well serviced with 2 main lifts out and one ski run in. A 5 minute walk in the morning gets you to the main lifts and in the evening you can ski to the door. Gin and tonics on the balcony in the evening sun were perfect!

We didn't go out much but we did have a lovely meal at Le Brasero, a lively bar just round the corner. All the staff seemed to be British and were really fun and helpful - burger specials recommended and Happy Hour from 4-6pm every night. They offer major Sports events on Sky and 3 nights a week there is live music in the bar.

Ski and boot rentals were round the corner at Mick & Bobs Sports. They are French but speak reasonable English and were very helpful. You are best to make your booking for skis before you go - we used Snowrental and got 50% off their prices so make sure you book before you go. We made a mistake but cancelled and re-booked using the WiFi access in the apartment and still got our 50% discount for the altered booking. Otherwise you pay full price for everything in the shop. (Take a laptop!)

This year we drove - it's about 10 hours from Calais and we spent a night in Chambery before driving up the following morning.

All in all we had a fantastic time - this apartment is highly recommended.

Situated at 2100 metres in the main area of Tignes, our village of Le Lavachet is by far the best! It has its own shops and restaurants and is easy to ski back to. There are 2 x 6 seater chairs to whisk you up to the slopes which you can ski down to and they never have any queues! Our village is the quieter area of Tignes and well suited for families.

Golf: The golf in summer is on the Par 68 5000 yard course situated on the meadowed slopes of Tignes. Situated at 2100 metres it is the highest golf course in Europe. Ski: * Tignes ( 2100 metres) is situated close to Val d'Isere and

has a glacier which offers excellent snow conditions all

through the long season from early December right through to

mid May.

* There are many red and blue runs ideal for intermediate skiers

whilst some of the best off-piste and black runs can be found

here in Tignes.
