comfortable apartment in a small and quiet complex, 10 min. to go to the beach

'Santa Lucia' is a small and very quiet apartment complex, situated in a cul de sac without so many noisy cars. You can spend a relaxing holiday on the beach - nearby you can enjoy the extraordinary Amadores beach, and also Puerto Rico beach - as well as exploring the island by car and enjoying the nightlife of Puerto Rico or Playa del Inglés. Maybe you are interested in tours or excursions to the surrounding areas, or all over the island?  I can help you find the best with my island experience, of almost 14 years! An interesting example is a folklore event that takes place at every Sunday in Las Palmas in the North of the island. There is also an open tourist bus to see the sights of the city. Inland, you may visit caves where people still live almost under conditions of ancient times – only the antenna outside testifies to modern inventions such as television.

how to get to 'Santa Lucia' by car : How to get to 'Santa Lucia':

From the airport take the motorway South, past Playa del Inglés, further on to Arguineguin and finally to Puerto Rico to the end of the motorway. - At the roundabout go left towards Puerto Rico through the tunnel. - At the next roundabout go right and follow the main street of Puerto Rico about 500 m passing two more roundabouts. At Mc Donald´s on your right, turn to the left. - Driving up the lightly ascending street, at reaching a T-crossing, turn to the left and after only a few meters to the right. Now you are only 100 m away from 'Santa Lucia' which is situated on the right hand. Directly in front of it you´ll find a free parking.

'Santa Lucia' is built at a slope, the ap. nr. 3 - as well as all the other apartments in this complex - has an unique view to the ocean and is very quiet. You can reach the flat going down about 15 steps on the stairways - I have to confess I never counted them exactly (my fault). That will be your task or that of your children ... The sight to the beach and the sea will make you feel inclined to have a swim in cool water and indulge in an icecream. But as your kitchen is equipped with a big fridge and freezer you can also store some icecream 'at home'. By the way : One says Gran Canary´s climate is one of the best in the world - especially for those people who have problems with rheumatism and asthma.

'Santa Lucia' is about 8-10 min. by foot from the shopping center. There are shops, restaurants of all kinds, pubs and discos and a lot of leisure activities such as tennis, mini golf, squash, large trampolines, gym, a big water park and golf (nearby). In the other direction you´ll find on the beach / at the harbor deep-sea fisher boats, a surf- and sailing school, renting of jet-ski and pedal boats and also a diving school and ...  If you are interested in the art of painting, you can join the lessons of a German lady artist who lives at Barranco (engl.: rocky valley) del Cura, about 8 min. by car, in a picturesque surrounding with a fantastic view to the ocean and the mountains. Over there you´ll also find my two private horses that you can ride at a small extra cost. Or do you want to learn horse riding? Finally something totally different: If you like you can have a bit of education and knowledge add- I have intense experience with tutoring and beginner lessons in Engl. /Spanish.

Other Activities: deep-sea fishing, gym, squash, Jet-Ski, large trampoline, minigolf

Golf: In the surrounding area and all over the island you´ll find some nice golf sites with 9 and 18 holes that can be used by passionate golfers all year round.

  • The change of towels and bed-linen is flexible - you decide how often - let´s speak about it ! SOMETHING IMPORTANT : To create a relaxed change for my guests I beg you – dear leaving guest – to let the apartment broom clean at 12 am because then you – dear incoming guest – can start your holidays from 2 pm on. If possible – that means if the finca is free before – you can enter earlier, also: If the finca at your leaving day will not be occupied directly you may stay up to the evening if you have a late flight. Thank you.

  • The bedroom - as well as the living room - has access to the balcony offering you a fantastic view over the beach. There is a quite big wardrobe for all the odds and ends you may need during your holidays (and that normally you´ll take back afterwards without ever having used them at all). Inside there is a safe that will give you safety (just now I learned the very origin of this word 'safe') - up to now we never had problems with burglars. But please put everything of value into it so that you won´t be the first person who has trouble. The safe is not charged extra.

Great view and location

I was staying at Santa Lucia nr 3 for 10 days (September 2010). I was traveling with my fiancée. Here's our short review.

Pros:
- apartment was very clean
- well-equipped (especially kitchen, bathroom - e.g. 2 toilet papers)
- small but nice balcony with great view
- Owner (Mona) was very friendly and helpful. Really, fantastic person :)
- good location (close to shops, bus station etc.)
- free parking in front of apartment (I really recommend to hire a car)
- close to Amadores beach (fantastic white sand!)
- staying here we felt like home :)

Cons:
- beds was hard to sleep (I recommend to sleep on comforter - take yours or ask Mona for one, I'm sure she'll help you)

Final word:
We recommend this place to anyone, who wants to live in Puerto Rico. And you must know, that Puerto Rico (PR) is not a quiet place (especially at night). If you like to party, go to PR and stay at Santa Lucia - 100% SATISFACTION.

But...If you want calm nights and romantic atmosphere, go to Puerto de Mogán - we were enchanted by this place. We think it's the best place in Gran Canaria.

Good base for relaxing holiday

Apt 3 is a perfect base for a relaxing holiday in Gran Canaria. Small, clean and with adequate facilities - perfect for a couple. The apt is in a small quiet block with a great view over the harbour & beach area. 10 min walk from the shopping centre that also provides a big selection of bars & restaurants & food supermarkets. 5 mins more to the beach/harbour area for a different selection of bars/restaurants. Walk back to apt is uphill but not all way to top and loads of taxis available.

Recommendations: sit and enjoy a glass of wine on the apt balcony on a balmy evening watching the harbour activity; walk the 20 mins along the coast pathway from Puerto Rico harbour to Amadores to enjoy the sand imported from the Sahara and safe swimming; take the ferry to Port Mogan & enjoy a walk & lunch at the harbour (check out the large fish in the harbour) & if you have time and fancy a trip - the sand dunes at Maspalomas are worth it.

Apt 3 is a simple, small, clean base for holiday in Gran Canaria. The owner is very friendly and was very helpful in arranging the rental and willing to offer guidance and recommendations - Balcon restaurant was her recommendation and we went back 3 times in a week. Wd also recommend the Nordic Bakery just beside Balcon for breakfast.

Perfect for a week away from the UK winter.
