About George Hampilos
While not enjoying the scenery and cool ocean breezes of Kauai, Mary is immersed in her art projects and the couple’s daughters, Jorgie, age 10, and Demi, age 5. While back home in Illinois, George practices law and shovels snow. The couple enjoys their three dogs, Alfie (an 80 pound Briard), Lucy (another big Briard), and Willie (a 10 pound mutt who bosses the bigger dogs around). Some of their other activities include, biking, reading, running, traveling with their daughters, and experimenting with new restaurants.

Why George Hampilos chose Anahola
The inspiration for building this luxurious Hawaiian-style home on the island of Kauai lies with its owners, George and Mary. After traveling throughout various parts of the world, the owners concluded that Kauai offers everything they cherished most: beautiful scenery, excellent food, great weather, and an abundance of outdoor activities. Building a home in Kauai seemed like the right thing to do. And the fact that Mary and George live in the Midwest hardly deterred this visionary couple to build this house thousands of miles away. With Mary’s artistic flair, and George’s thirst for the next big challenge, both were able to build their dream get away.
What makes this house unique
The owners sought to combine and balance the building and landscaping architecture in the Hawaiian tradition, with the modern simplicity seen in contemporary homes. The couple rounded out the home with the appropriate blend of antique Asian and Hawaiian furnishings, along with state of the art appliances.
