About this property

Romantic house above the sea with charming view

The house is a traditional Greek brick construction and is located on an idyllic property above the sea by Villa Jasmin. A lot of value was placed on individual and lovely furnishing so that you do not only feel comfortable, but you can also live with all senses. One of the bedrooms is located facing the sea and, just like the living-dining room area, has an exit to the large patio from which you can have a view above a few olive trees directly to the sea. The open kitchen is optically separated from the living room by a white caulked, half-height brick wall. As is usual for Greek cottages, the roof construction is visible in the main part of the house - this provides for an airy and original atmosphere. The majority of the wood furniture is handmade, the closeness to nature and the charming view of the sea, which seems to be in reach, will contribute to letting you really relax, let go and recuperate.

About Koroni: If you are still looking for real Greece in its originality, its untouched nature and its open, friendly people and at the same time want to experience an eventful, lively vacation, then Koroni is the perfect location. Nearby you will always hear when a goat shepherd with his herd or an old man transporting things on his donkey goes by. In Koroni you will find exciting village life for young and old, along with countless stores and businesses to visit. Especially beautiful are early evenings by the jetty with the often glassy sea where you can either enjoy fresh fish at a restaurant by the harbor or go to eat in a traditional tavern, or you can even make your food yourself in your kitchen. Last but not least, the burg built by the Venetians and lit at night and the monastery above the sea form the image of this picturesque fishing city.

Attractions: Visit Kalamata, now one of the richest and most beautiful cities in Greece. Here you will find a special type of shopping experience: from boutiques from famous brands to very small handicraft shops to the aromatic spice stores in the old city district - there is a lot to discover here. Experience the gypsy market (always Thursdays) - as early as possible during the morning so that you can enjoy it especially during the high summer. Fruit and vegetable markets are found from Koroni to Kalamata and here is where the farmers bring in their harvest. Walk on historical floors: the ancient sites of Olympia, Sparta, Epidaurus and Mykene can be reached for a day excursion. The impressive burg in Methoni and the famous cattle stomach bay (battle of Navarino) by Pylos is also worth a visit and is very exciting for children.

Beach life: In and around Koroni you will find countless, natural beaches and bays where you can spend undisturbed days and simply relax. Due to the wonderful water quality, Koroni is one of the few places on earth where the endangered loggerhead turtle (caretta caretta) still build their nests. The mild climatic location on the gulf makes it possible to enjoy swimming from May to October.

Perfect holiday home
The house was in a small gated complex with two other houses but we would not have known they were there. A very peaceful, well stocked and clean house with easy access to the wonderful beach and local towns where there were plenty of restaurants and a well stocked shop. The owners were easy to contact and the instructions how to get to the property from the airport were spot on. Could not have found it without their help! Our visit coincided with very hot weather and so the air conditioning was most welcome. The terrace was private and had a gorgeous view of the sea and mountains. As a family of four adults we could not have asked for a better holiday. We would recommend a hire car though to get there and to get around the area which is well worth the drive. Thank you for an idyllic week.

Apologies and compensation
This is a short post script to the review posted by Binki. Following our review which mentioned the noise issue, we were contacted by the owners who apologised profusely on behalf of their neighbours. They assured us that this was a unique occurrence and that they had dealt with the matter. Moreover, they fully compensated us for our stay at the Villa Olive Grove. As we said in the original review, apart from the noise we experienced we were very impressed by the property and would have given it 5 stars. The rating on this review refers to the way in which the owners have dealt with us since we returned from holiday.

Lovely house, shame about the noise
Villa Olive Grove is a lovely house - clean, comfortable, tasteful, spacious and very private. The house is well maintained and well equipped although we could not find a kettle. Also the house notes were only in German. There are good views from the large terrace across the sea to the other side of the Gulf. There are a couple of pleasant sandy beaches just a short walk away. We could not find a footpath to Koroni which is around 10 minutes by car. Unfortunately our stay was spoilt by very loud music played over several hours on a daily basis. There is a house being built a little way along and we understand that the sons of the people having the house built were staying in an adjacent house. On the second day of our stay the very loud music started at 16:30 and continued until 21:30. We asked them to turn it down which they did slightly. The next day it started again so we decided to go into Koroni for the evening. We ended up having to do that for the rest of the week as we could not relax or enjoy the beautiful view from the terrace. (So we also spent more money than we would have done). On the Thursday some friends came to visit us and the music started at 14:30 - it was awful. We either had to go inside with the doors shut or leave the villa. To make matters worse there was also noise from the building work - that wouldn't have been too bad as they stopped at around 15:00 for siesta but the fact that we then had to put up with loud music was just too much. We were disappointed and frustrated at the lack of concern or help from the owners. We could not get through to them initially but were able to speak to a contact who said she would let them know of the problem. The contact did try and help by contacting the mother of the boys (it would seem that the noise was a known problem). We did not hear anything from the owners until my husband asked the contact to ask them to phone us. We would have thought they would have contacted us straight away and come to the house to hear the problem for themselves and to see what they could do to help. It was only after we returned to England that we received an e-mail from them and it would seem that they weren't in Greece anyway. A concern for future guests is that the boys will be neighbours as the house being built is owned by their parents. Thankfully we had spent a quiet and relaxing week in the Mani the previous week. We would have given Villa Olive Grove 5 stars but for the noise.

Romantic villa in Koroni
We really had a wonderful time in Aghios Triada (Koroni). The desciption of the villa is totally accurate and the surrounding is magnificent. The sea is within walking distance from the house (5 minutes) and the view from the terrace of the house is breath-taking. The neighbourhood is really quiet, not to mention the beach which looks like a private beach. We really appreciated the choice of the furniture and the kind attentions when we arrived (bottle of wine, fruit juice and surprises for the children and a bone for our dog!). We warmly recommend the place but advise the owner to make an English guide to the villa (the one we had was only in German). Don't hesitate to visit Nikos' taverna in Vasilitsi, the food is delicious!
