About Doug & Nancy Mecham

I'm the youngest Daughter of the World-renowned Chemist Dr. H. Tracy Hall and his life long love, Ida Rose Langford Hall. H Tracy Hall was the first man to successfully synthesize Diamonds. My Husband Doug and I were both born & raised in Provo, and were High School Sweethearts. We have 4 children, 3 daughters and a son with multi disabilities, and are proud grandparents of 4 darling grandchildren. Doug & I manage the H. Tracy Hall Legacy Home where I grew up. We enjoy meeting new people & making friends from all walks of life.

Doug & Nancy Mecham purchased this house in 1954

Why Doug & Nancy Mecham chose Provo

This home was designed & built in 1954 by my parents, H. Tracy & Ida Rose Hall. They wanted to be close to BYU where my Father taught. He was a Professor and member of the Department of Chemistry, Physics, & Biochemistry and spent 26 years teaching and researching in the field of high pressure and high temperatures. Along the way they raised all 7 of their children (I'm the youngest). The home contains the recently released Biographies of my parents for you to read, and an assortment of interesting pictures adorning the walls. When Mom & Dad passed away, my Brother bought the family home, the home above it, and the home below it. He removed the upper and lower homes, and replaced them with lawns, gardens, trees, play areas, an orchid greenhouse, pavilion & splash pad. The Home is truly immaculate & wonderful. Now this unique historical home is yours to experience! Don't waste any more time searching, call now!

What makes this house unique

This classic mid-century style home is warm & inviting, and couldn't be more conveniently located! It's as close to Brigham Young University as you could ever hope to be It's just 1-4 block walk from the property to the BYU florist/gift shop, The Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum, BYU Museum of Peoples and Cultures, the BYU T. Earl and Kathryn Pardoe Drama Theatre, Earth Science Museum, BYU Fine Art Museum, Two Creamery market locations (grocery & grill), BYU Lavell Edwards football Stadiium, The Marriott Center (BYU event center, basketball tuesday devotionals, etc), The Larry Miller Baseball field, and the LDS Mission Training Center (MTC). Charming and

  • 5 out of 5
My husband and I stayed at the rental across from the legacy house and loved our stay there. We loved the fun 50s decorations and themes throughout the house: the countertops, sinks, stove, oven, wood floors, and other elements are from the original house and are and in great shape. I loved the attention to detail of even having smaller appliances like the vegetable peeler and the popcorn maker look 50s-esque. The managers do an excellent job of keeping it very clean and in good shape.

We loved staying in a fun, authentic house from the 50s while still being able to have access to Wifi, TV, nice pots and pans, a Kitchenaid, new washer and dryer, etc. I would definitely recommend staying in this home; you can't get much closer to campus, and we had a great time.

Owner's Response: Hey you two! How are you guys, anyway?! We hope by now you're all moved and settled into your new home. Drop in and say "Hi" if you're anywhere nearby -- we'd love to see you again. We're so glad we were able to help you out with a comfortable place to live for a month while you were in-between homes. Here's wishing you the best of luck in all your endeavors, --Doug & Nancy

Exceptionally presented updated period property

  • 5 out of 5
An interesting house that combines the best of modern services (cable TV, wireless WiFi, Keurig coffee maker, etc.) with the '50's charm that comes from a sympathetic restoration and furnishing in a contemporary style. It's well placed for the university, a host of shops and restaurants are nearby in downtown and at the University Mall. All kinds of sports equipment can be rented economically nearby at BYU's Outdoors Unlimited. The managers made me very welcome and I am in no doubt that I shall stay here again.

Comfort, style, location... this place has it all.

  • 5 out of 5
I've stayed at the H. Tracy Hall Legacy Home several times and have enjoyed it immensely every time. I has all of the amenities plus lots of great extras. A full kitchen on both floors, that is clean and has brand new appliances. The beds are super comfy and the living areas are homey and stylish. The hosts, Doug and Nancy have remodeled and upgraded this home into a place that is great for events as well, with fantastic landscaping, and an outdoor area that has it all... even a drinking fountain. It also maintains much of the original charm and features that Dr. Hall built into his home, and it is right next to the BYU campus and just a few minutes from downtown, and very close to the mountains and outdoor recreation.

If you're looking for a nicely appointed and accessible place in the Provo area, you should stay here. I'll be coming back, for sure. Doug and Nancy will take care of you and help make your stay feel like you belong. Thanks for being so gracious and accommodating.
