Attractive, brand new, condo available for short term rental.
The condo has 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. It has a lot of natural light, and lovely views of the Caja Mountains. The dining area and master bedroom have windows running floor to ceiling. The windows are double-paned and the apartment is very quiet. Each bedroom has its own private bath, and there is a guest ½ bath off the living area. Both bedrooms have queen beds with pillow top mattresses, 2 night tables with lamps, and built in closets. The 2 full bathrooms have showers. The master has a walk-in shower with rainfall shower head. The other bathroom has a corner shower with detachable shower head with hose. The kitchen/dining /living areas are open plan with sliding glass doors opening to a balcony. The kitchen is spacious with granite counter tops and a counter height breakfast bar with 3 chairs. The dining table will seat 6. A wall-mounted 40in HDTV swivels for viewing from the living room or dining area. The kitchen has plenty of storage, 4 burner gas cook top, microwave and a gas wall oven with rotisserie. Adjacent, but closeted, is the laundry with combo washer/dryer and small laundry sink. The second bedroom has a computer desk with adjustable chair. All appliances, furnishings, cookware and linens are provided. We have WiFi internet, Blue Ray DVD player with a small DVD library, and a roku (internet TV). We also have a security safe in the master bedroom closet.
Located just 5 minutes away by cab from the historic district, this condo is located near a plaza featuring a grocery store, home goods store, pizza/ice cream shop, and many smaller stores. Nearby is the largest Mercado, a cooperativa market, and numerous restaurants, including a vegetarian one, all within easy walking distance. There is a small park across the street. The condo is situated in a new condominium building of 20 units. The building has an elevator, a large, nicely furnished lobby, and guard/24 hour security. There are several English speaking neighbors in the building. A parking space is available, but a car is not necessary to explore Cuenca from here. A cab ride costs about $1.50 to the historic center, or you can go across town for $4.00. Several bus lines (25 cents) are close by the apartment or, for exercise, it’s about a 30 minute scenic walk to the historic area of town.
Here we are at La Esquina, one of our favorite restaurants. We retired to Cuenca a little over 3 years ago. My husband was born in Cuba, so his native language is Spanish. I grew up in Central Florida. We met 38 years ago at the same workplace, but never knew each other well, and did not keep in touch. He remembered me and looked me up when he moved back to the area in 2005. We met, dated, and were married in 2007. My husband is a psychiatrist, and I am a clinical social worker. We enjoy walking and exploring Cuenca, dining out, and spending time with friends. I love cooking, reading, taking Spanish lessons, and photography. My husband loves music, reading about geopolitical topics, and eating my cooking.

We had looked at this building during construction 2 years ago, then again in 2012. We ended up buying something already completed in another building where we were renting. After we were settled, we took a look again and decided to purchase a smaller condo in this building to use for guests, and family, and to rent it out short term. Since we travel sometimes, we have a professional property manager to take care of many of the details.
It's an architecturally interesting building, not the gigantic red brick boxes, so often built here. It is full of light and has lovely views. It has a very convenient location, very close to shopping and the soon to be built tranvia or light rail system. It is located on one of the small hills within the valley of Cuenca, so it has a very nice view even from the lower floors. There are wonderful neighbors in the building as well.

I have moved to Ecuador and wanted a place I could call home while I looked for long term housing. This condo fit the bill perfectly! It's very nicely appointed and the kitchen and laundry are easy to use. With SuperMaxi less than two blocks away, it was convenient walking their for groceries. There is also a deli right across the street that had good cheeses, pastries, etc. I never had to wait more than a minute for a taxi ride and felt very safe and secure the entire stay.
The owner and property manager are both very pleasant and accomodating and in fact, the property manager was able to find me the perfect long term condo! You can lease this condo with confidence, knowing that what you see is what you get. No surprises and you're desling with very responsible people.
Our first visit to Ecuador and Cuenca was made PERFECT by the joy of renting this lovely condominium for 30-days. Coming "home" after our busy travel days substantially enhanced and enriched our travel experience. The condominium had every modern convenience you could ever want - including complete kitchen, stacked washer/dryer, flat-screen television, personal vault, building security, elevator, and an ideal location. "Punto" bakery and deli was out the front door, and a modern "SuperMaxi" supermarket and shopping mall was across the highway. Bus and taxi access were practically at the front door making Parque Calderon (Center of Old Cuenca) only 10-minutes away. Cuenca's new light rail train will eventually be available at the front door. Charming decor. Dining patio door faces beautiful evening sunsets and a spectacular daytime view of El Cajas National Park. Maribel and Ana are wonderful property managers and we even enjoyed a brief visit by the owners. We loved this property and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for the ultimate in housing convenience and quality.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this terrific Apartment in a great location .It was exactly as described on the web site ,and a true home away from home. .Maribel met us on our arrival and quickly settled us in and oriented us to the city. . We found the guest information book containing heeps of information very helpful and the Building security very comforting . Should we return to Cuenca we would again stay at this apartment.
We stayed here for our first visit to Ecuador. We loved exploring Cuenca with this condo as our homebase. It was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed. It was centrally located and we were able to easily walk, grab a taxi or brave the buses to where ever we wanted to go. The owner and her rental manager were gracious and helpful. We would highly reccomend this condo.
This condo is not only well located near grocery, restaurants but not more than 10 minutes from El Centro. It is well appointed with all one would need for an extended stay. The view of the city is spectacular. All is new, modern and clean. The owner was very helpful with suggestions for sightseeing, etc. She also addressed any needs we might have promptly. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a place to stay.
Cuenca is surrounded by mountains, and traversed by 4 rivers. The largest river runs through the city separating the elevated old town from the newer part of town on the other side. On the steep banks of the river houses are built on several levels. This Barranco, as it is called, is dramatic and historic, Large shady sidewalks line the other side of the river. Cuenca is a large enough city to entertain you, but with a small town feel. The historical area is large, still undergoing restoration. There are many museums, ruins, concerts, artists and artisans and most of it is free. The Caja National Park is a must see as well. There are many day trips you can take, and several tour companies offer services.

We can loan a cell phone for your use during your stay ($50 refundable deposit). The property manager can arrange for you to be met at the airport and transported to the condo for $10. Also she could stock a few grocery items until you can make your first shopping trip.(Small fee+cost of groceries)
