In Tuscany, in the suggestive siennese countryside, Castello di Saltemnano stands out magnificently on the surrounding sweet hills. It is an imposing medieval complex already mentioned in an old document dating 1055: a fortification surrounded by boundary walls, which can still be seen in the three massive embattled towers. The castle is built around a central court, which an only brick entrance and an arch furnished with openings between supporting corbels for dropping stones on assailants. The agricultural- tourist inn ' Castello di Saltemnano ' harmonizes perfectly with the surrounding nature even though it is only 23 south of Siena and 15 km from Montalcino. The apartments( recently renovated, furnished with typical Tuscan furniture, they are either in the 1 st. floor of the castle or in the garden house ), the swimming-pool ( 8 x 14 meters ) and the vast areas around will help you to enjoy your holiday in the most relaxing and comfortable way.

Castello di Saltemnano is found in one of the most beautiful areas of Tuscany: on the borders of the ' Crete Senesi', between Monteroni and Buonconvento. its position is very suggestive and easy to reach: in the middle of a rural area, about 1,5 km from the main road and from the village of Ponte dArbia. It is an ideal place for those who like walking or riding bicycle. There are many neighbouring places of interest, historical or cultural: Buonconvento ( 6 km ), Siena ( 23 km ), S. Quirico d'Orcia and Pienza ( 30 km ) and all the Val d'Orcia ( declared by UNESCO as property of mankind ), San Gimignano ( 60 km ), and the abbies of Monte Oliveto Maggiore and Sant Antimo., Even Florence ( 80 km ), Arezzo ( 70 km ), and perugia ( 100 km ) are easily reached in one day. Montalcino, with its Brunello, it's only 15 km away. Montepulciano, with its Vino Nobile, area of Chianti Classico: 40 km, Terme di Rapolano ( 25 km ), Bagno di Vignoni: 30 km
