Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday estate in Tubac - Los Pajaro's - (The Bird's)

Two Master Bedrooms, Two Master Baths, 3 Fireplaces, Horse Facilities

Once a former Dude Ranch, Hacienda Los Pajaro's is now available as a vacation rental. Hard to believe it was once a one room homesteaders cabin with an outhouse. Over the years it has grown into a 2,466 sq. ft. estate it is today, maintaining it's original charm and historical integrity.

Bring your own horse and ride out on the trails or hunt in style while staying on this 18 acre, mesquite studded rolling hills, secluded estate fit for John Wayne. Enjoy the wonderful climate Southern, Arizona has to offer and ride out on State and Federal lands for what feels like unending miles. You will be staying in the main head quarters ranch house with; Two large master bedrooms, each with a private bath. Fully equipped kitchen with full size refrigerator, New gas stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, crockpot and coffee pot. Family room with fireplace, large windows for viewing the bird antics. Dining room, office with Wi-Fi, third bath and grand foyer. Horse paddocks with electric and auto water. Plenty of trailer parking space. 700 sq. ft. of covered outdoor living space out the back door. Adobe walled compound with 16 ft. tall gates. An outdoor fireplace just off the front entrance gives you the opportunity to kick back, have a drink, listen to coyotes chatter as the orange sun sets and a night full of stars begins. All this while your magnificent beast are a no more than a few feet away and always in view from the main house with it's massive walls of windows.

Upon entering Los Parjaro's you will be greeted by a 6 foot tall parlor stove circa 1915 which once graced a hotel in Colorado and now stands in the foyer. The foyer is 10 feet deep and runs the length of the house. Through a set of French doors you will enter the bedroom wing which houses both master bedrooms and baths. Large rooms and walk in Mexican tiled shower make for an extremely ADA friendly vacation for the whole family. Washer and dryer available just off the master bath.

Arivaca is a charming township off the beaten path, yet assessable by hard surface roads. No traffic noise here, just the nightly chatter of coyotes. Arivaca has a local Mercantile with gas pumps, (no diesel so fill up in Green Valley). Library with more Wi-Fi, Post Office, La Gitana Cantina with full bar, Gadsen Coffee Shop, Sweet Peas Café Serving Breakfast and Lunch, Jan's TLC Dog Grooming, James Barber Shop, Arivaca Clinic, (part of United Healthcare) and Fire Department. Artist Co-op, and a Farmer Market every Saturday where organic treasures abound.

Great Winter Get Away

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Los Pajaros Ranch and very much enjoyed the property. The Ranch includes the house and several buildings. The yard is gated and 100% private and includes enough area to stretch your legs and enjoy the grounds. The property also includes an irrigation system so the grass is green and the trees and shrubs are lush.

Great Secluded Getaway in a "Off the Path" Southwest Hacienda

  • 5 of 5

Behind a huge wall and a secure fence you will discover a great place to spend as much time as you have. The Arivaca area is a gem that is unknown by most. The hacienda is everything it appears to be in pictures and more. Everything you need is provided in first class setting. As long as you have food, you never need to leave the property. The property is only about ten minutes off the main road (and and only 5 minutes more from Arivaca.) On the other hand, there are plenty of things to do in a remote area like biking, hiking, bird watching, horseback riding and sightseeing. While close to the southern border, it is very safe. If you are lucky you may even have fresh eggs every morning from chickens on the property (no.. not noisy). One of my favorite areas on the property is the back deck where you could sit for hours reading your favorite book or listening to music. This is a very private property with no neighbors watching how you dress early in the morning. You could not see a neighbor if you wanted to (unless you count horses or cows as neighbors.)

We were welcome to bring our dog and Michelle invited us to bring our own horses if we wanted to. The oversized boarding area is great for horses. Also, one of the most pleasant parts of the stay there was Michelle, the property owner. She is a delight. Very kind, generous, thoughtful and helpful. We were there with our two boys and our dog. Everyone was confortable.

Do note, this area is somewhat remote. Plenty of shopping and restaurants are about 45 minutes away. The town of Arivaca has a few businesses and the coffee shop is wonderful that is about ten minutes away. But, if you expect to walk down the street to bars and restaurants, Arivaca does not provide that experience. But, that is the charm of this property.

I would highly recommend this property if this area or type of "getaway from it all" is for you. Have fun.

Happy New Year!

  • 5 of 5

This home is where my group stayed during the New Years Eve. We had a warm and comfortable time while the weather outside was cold and raw. This home is lovely and very comfortable. The host is very nice and caring.

Horse Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Los Pajaros Ranch has so many attributes for the guests who are fortunate to spend time in this secluded paradise. My family & I went to Arivaca to reunite with a family friend we had not seen in over 20 years. In the past, I have not been a fan of Arizona desert. Not any more. . .i loved the beautiful ranch house nestled in a 2 acre gated compound. You drive in on dirt roads and then enter the compound through a giant wooden gate. . .and the adventure begins. Green grass, beautiful trees and flowers surround the gorgeous ranch house with tiled floors, bright natural light through windows that run throughout the house. There is a warm inviting fireplace that encourages evening and early morning gatherings. A kitchen that looks out into the livingroom allowing the cook to still participate in the activities. There is also a wooden deck that I loved to sit on and drink my early morning coffee or my pre-bed hot chocolate. The grounds are decorated with string lights in the trees at night giving a beautiful soft lighting to a serene, meditative surround. The compound also has a chicken coup for gathering fresh eggs, goats housed in the horse paddock and is a bird paradise. But for us, it was about the 16 acres outside the compound that brought us the most enjoyment. We walked to the pond and found 2 horses. They were a little shy at first but started to follow us as we continued our walk. Soon 2 more horses joined us in our walk. As we stopped, we were joined by one more. They encircled us, nudged us and interacted with our dog, a Bull Mastiff named Bella. It was an enchanting experience especially since we all love horses. We continued to see them on early morning walks and afternoon explorations. And now for the one thing that sets this trip apart from the many others I have taken. . .the hostess & owner, Michele Davis. She was there to welcom us as we arrived providing a tour of the grounds and sooo much valuable information about the grounds as well as the surrounding area. During our stay, we loved spending time with her and invited her to join us when we went into town as well as dinner at the house. She was so gracious and knowledgeable that her involvement added a wonderful, personal touch to our stay. Visiting Los Pajaros is like an adventure in your own back yard. . .away from home but with all the comforts of being home. We plan on visiting again and often.

Owner's Response: Phyllis, Well.....! What can I say other than "Thank You" so much for the very fine review. your wrote such a beautiful and eloquent description of all I had hoped guest would experience during their stay. Words can not express how much I appreciate your kindness. The horse that roam the property from the neighboring horse ranch, TS Quarter Horses, owned by Tabitha Smith, and are truly a joy to behold. Currently there is a little filly and her mama grazing in the one of Los Pajaro's secluded pastors. Hoping for more little adorable babies in the coming months. Since your stay, we have be able to offer up horse back riding adventures so that the beauty of what is beyond the ranch can be enjoyed from horse back. When you return on your next trip we will all have to take a ride out together with an experienced guide. What I gain more than anything from being a hostess of a VRBO is the life long friendships that develop. I hate to see you go and look forward to your return. Already looking forward to your return this summer. It was my pleasure to have met you and your family along with your ever entertaining and no longer; long-lost, local friend. It was a truly delightful time with all of you and the memories will forever be cherished. Happy Trails, See You Soon and HUGS My Dear Friend. Michelle

Oasis!

  • 5 of 5

I am not sure I can add anything new to what has already been said about this place..but let me try.

First, this home is LOVELY. Everything you see in the photos is 100% accurate, down to the views and the sunsets. Even bad weather in the winter didn't take away from the charm and beauty of this rustic setting. The home is inviting and very comfortable. Plenty of room for six adults.

Second, the hostess was charming well beyond expectations. Quickly available via text, phone and e-mail she responded to all questions and concerns within minutes. Had she been there the whole week, she would have joined us for dinner. Her knowledge of the area and the lifestyle is required for a comfortable stay. She keeps you up to date on the visiting horses, the goats, the cat, and the chickens. She reminds you about the fireplace and shows you where extra wood can be found. She helps you find local hiking, horseback riding, shooting, dining, shopping, etc. She even offered to pick up a cake for my son's birthday on our behalf. Amazing!

Finally, the area. It's rough. These are gravel roads people. Leave the spiked heels at home. Bring only outdoor / ranch clothing, cowboy hats, boots, and jeans. I didn't wear 1/2 of what I brought as going out involves adding make up to the above list - and maybe earrings and a nice sweater.

The beds were comfortable, the rooms were warm (albeit the hallway was brisk with all the windows!) and the front room was cozy. We had a fire every night and we roamed the yard every morning to feed kitty and grab fresh eggs. It was really pleasant. I have to mention the fluffy towels!

Finally the area...it's rustic and out there. Not too far from Tubac and Nogales that you wouldn't visit, but far enough that you will find yourself nestled away in the hills where the stars are magnificent and the quiet is broken only by the sound of coyotes. Enjoy! You will love it.

outstanding place and awesome host

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a deer hunt and I was blown away at the beauty of this magnificent home. Shortly after ariving you understand that this is your temporary home for a few days. Nothing is overlooked by the host and the grounds are beautiful. This is the only home I have ever been to that has 2 back yards. Lol. Awesome firepit in the front yard makes that the second backyard. Will stay there again soon for sure. Probably well Underpriced if you ask me. 5 stars all the way for me.
