Everyone had a great time especially the grandchildren. A wonderful 50th Anniversary trip for all. Loved having enough bedrooms. Layout is great. Having 2 Tv's areas worked well with age differences. Hard to go back to the working world.
RENTER BEWARE! My family rented this house the week of Thanksgiving and had a plethora of unresolved issues. There are only two TV’s in this entire house and only one of them worked. The TV in the downstairs den didn’t even have a cable box. The one TV that did work only got about 10 channels, none of which were any good unless you want to watch race car driving. With six adults and four kids one TV is not going to cut it. You are only suppose to run the AC at 76 degrees and several of the fans did not work. Way to warm to live in. The grill is in pieces and not operable. The kayaks are garbage and the pool toys are non existent. There were ants in the kitchen and downstairs bathroom. Only one phone in the whole house worked and there were lot of light bulbs out. The bathtub jets in the master bath did not work. The hot water did not work on one side of the house (there are two water heaters). One of the bathroom doors locked and would not open. And to top it off seven sets of our (new) snorkels, five pairs of goggles and two pairs of shoes were stolen off the back deck. We emailed the house manager the day before we arrived asking about the TV situation since there was a negative review of the house from July saying the TV’s did not work. She did not reply. We called her Sunday, Monday and Tuesday asking her to fix some of the problems. Everyday she said she would send someone out. Finally, after finding the owners phone number in New York we called her and left a message that were having problems. The housekeeper came out that night and said that the house manager never called her, the owner called her. We gave her a list of some of the problems. She sent a worker out on Wednesday to fix the bathroom door but he was not equipped to work on the TV’s or any of the other issues. It’s too bad the house has been neglected and poorly managed since it has a lot of potential. The area is nice, quiet and close to Rum Point which has some fun activities, great snorkeling and good restaurants. BUT…. DO NOT RENT THIS HOUSE.
We recently had a family vacation at the Coco Kai. Overall it was a great vacation. The island is one of the cleanest we have seen in the Caribbean, with lots of activities for the family to enjoy.
We recommend sting ray city we hired a fantastic private charter company called "Oh Boy Charters" to take us along with some reef fishing and snorkelling hotspots. Great, great people that will take good care of you. It will also be a better experience not having to go on a massive tourist trip.
The Coco Kai was overall a decent place with some pros and cons people need to be aware of.
If you want a quite place to stay away from the 7 mile madness this house and general location is great. When the winds are calm and the sky is blue the snorkelling in the general area is as good as any part of the island. The water is shallow which is great for young kids and beginner snorkelers.
The house itself was clean and nicely furnished, comfortably accommodated 7 adults and 3 children.
It's about a 10min drive to Rum Point and Starfish Beach which are both great places for small kids to swim and moms and dads to relax with a drink or 2.
The airport is about 35mins, harbor is 45-60mins depending on traffic. Which isn't really a big deal, just gotta stock up on food when you are there.
This place would be a 5 out of 5 rating if it was properly managed.
Some things that lacked
No tv in basement as promoted.
6 bedroom house with one TV. Property manager said prior guests broke TV yet nothing was done to replace it. We were also suppose to have a DVD player, some type of music playing device, bikes, slow cooker, house phone did not work, snorkelling gear and kayaks should be thrown in the garbage, half the stuff in the pool box was destroyed or dirty.
No umbrella for table, it was destroyed and left at the side of the house, umbrella stand left completely rusted in a heap under table. The hammock is more of a death trap than a place for a nap.
Can only run AC at 76F, with three young kids this was pretty challenging. Not sure what the issue is with the AC system but there are a few electrical issues, main bathroom had no lights for example, also probably related to the AC problem.
House had no extra toilet paper, paper towel, dishwasher soap.
Pool cleaners came once in 8 days, a clean pool is basically up to you.
It is located on a busy road across from some chickens that like to make a pile of noise in the morning so you need to be a heavy s
Our group of 8 adults enjoyed this home. It was clean, well decorated and was very comfortable. The only thing we would have liked that the home didn't have was a hot tub!
The nearby activities were limited...and that was one of the reasons we selected the home. We didn't want to be in the middle of all the tourists. If your looking for a place to relax and enjoy yourself, I would recommend this house. It has all the comforts of home...pool and beach front.
We just returned from our stay at Coco Kai. This home is wonderful! I cant say enough good things about it. The location is perfect if you want something low key and quiet. The home has just about everything you could ask for. The beach is quite large and the dock is great to lounge on. We loved having the pool and grill. It is a short drive to Rum Point and Starfish Point. You must check out both places. Im so glad we chose to stay away from seven mile area. It is very busy and congested in that area. The owners of the home were so nice and helpful with booking their home. We are already planning a trip to return. So if you are looking for a quiet, beautiful, relaxing place this is it! You will not be disappointed!
We were a family with 8 adults from CA, Chicago and Louisiana. We had three small children with us also. Your home had wonderful amenities and the perfect location, snorkeling at the house was outstanding. Our 5 year old grandaughter was comfortable enough to snorkel and she was amazed at the fish she saw in front of the house. We were so content we stayed home at Coco Kai. We drove the island but never even felt the need to eat out or snorkel or dive elsewhere.
All was lovely! Thank you so much!
Coco Kai was the perfect location to meet and celebrate with our parents. The house is beautifully furnished and has everything you need to both spend time together in the common area as well as spread out comfortably and have some privacy. We loved the large dining room table to accommodate our group of 8 after cooking full meals in the well appointed kitchen. The location on the north side is quiet and private which also means a rental car is necessary to get groceries, check out the local restaurants, go into town for church, shopping or a visit to 7 mile beach. We rented the Hyundai H1 van which easily allowed all of us to go out together and do our final trip to the airport with luggage. The area out front the house is great for relaxing (on dock or beach), snorkeling but not ideal for general swimming or walking the beach. We found Rum point to be an easy 10 min drive for access to a great area for a manicured beach great for swimming and walking the shore. The seniors in our group (80 and 85) were fine with the walk up and down the stairs but we had them stay on the 2nd floor (where living room and kitchen are) so as not to deal with the sunken family room area on main floor. The area on main floor is a wonderful additional lounging space with extra TV but the single step down from 3 directions could be hazardous for seniors if they needed to maneuver during the night. We used the 4 BR's with queen or king beds and left the two BR's with twins (they are beautiful rooms and would easily accommodate 4 extra people). We ate at Over the Edge restaurant (5 minute drive) which was excellent and also did a Birthday dinner to see the Barefoot Man at the Reef Resort (25 min drive). We also used the beach at Kai Bo Marina on a day that Rum Point was closed and had a nice lunch there (just a few minutes further than Rum Point). The kayaks were wonderful to have access to and although the bikes were not visible at first, a quick phone call to Roy and they appeared for our use. The pool at first glance appears tiny, but really it is all you need for a dip to cool off. The north side is windy but after spending time in town and at 7 mile beach is a much appreciated breeze to temper the heat and humidity. The house has great outdoor lounge chairs, dining set for by the pool and adirondack chairs to take to the end of the dock and enjoy the final sunshine of the day. All linens, towels, beach towels are great quality. Highly recommend this property!!
Botanic Gardens near, also paddle-boarding and bio-luminescense tours. Scuba Diving is available at 20% discounts from Tortuga Divers - located at Morritts Resort, East End, about 15 minute drive from property. Excellent wall and reef dives, with swim throughs and lots of underwater life.
