Ground floor apartment in a small closed condominium block of 20 flats, with gardens, large swimming pool and garage for two cars. The apartment is south facing and has sea views.
Changeover day is Monday, with check out at 10 am. A maid service is provided once per week.
A 20% discount on green fees is available to guests in this apartment at Palheiro Golf Club.
In conformity with Portuguese law this apartment is registered and fully licensed by the local council as an 'Authorised Letting Residence'. It was registered on August 1, 2011 and the license number is "34".
Great stay in this apartment! Everything was great! Beautiful apartment, beautiful view, I felt like a home. Everything was really perfect! I won’t hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone.
My wife & I have just returned from the above apartment where we stayed for a month. We were both pleasantly surprised at the size of property,far exceeding our expectations. It has large lounge & dining area,large fully equipped kitchen,two large double bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms with plenty of wardrobe space and a third smaller bedroom,together with a good sized balcony overlooking the pool,well maintained garden and sea view.
The apartment is immaculatly maintained,spotlessly clean and included a weekly maid service.
Don't be put off by previous reports on the good climb up from the sea front.Yes,it is a good climb, but my wife & I,both in our mid 60's and not particularly fit,enjoyed the walk down to the sea or to the many good restaurants ( our favourites being L'Osterria & Agua n'Boca) and either walked back slowly or got taxis,which were very reasonable.Well worth it after a meal and a glass of wine or three.
The apartment is located on the outskirts of Funchal centre,which can be reached within 10 minutes on local buses,the nearest bust stop 2/3 mins.walk away,although it took time working out the bus times.
Whilst our intention was to spend a month relaxing,escaping the some of the UK winter,we also toured the island using buses or tour operators and would recommend trips up the Nuns Valley & The North & West Tour with Strawberry World.The Botanical & Tropical Gardens in Funchal which can be reached by bus or cable car are worth a visit, as is the flower and fish market.
Manuella & David made us most welcome and were very helpful and also arranged taxis to & from the airport.
All in all we spent a most enjoyable month and would recommend this apartment to anyone and, even at this time of year,returned home with sun tans the envy of all our friends.
Everything regarding the apartment was fabulous - from the first email contact with the owners to the handing over of the keys. Everything was clean and bright, friendly and accessible. The Wi-fi was a great addition for a few hours at the office, and the laundry facilities were a blessing as we had 2 small children in our party. Restaurants, groceries, buses and taxis were all within easy walking distance (5-10mins with some hills), and Funchal centre was also within walking distance (more like 20-25mins there and 30mins back).
I would strongly recommend this property to anyone able, and willing, to enjoy a bit of walking, and would gladly stay there again.
We stayed at this lovely apartment in August 2010 for a week.
For our family of four including two children under 6 it was just what we were looking for. Spacious, well maintained, clean, secure and quiet.
The children made great use of the pool and their swimming improved no end.
Parking bays in a secure underground garage meant we had a cool car to get into on those hot afternoons and a gated complex meant we didnt have to worry about the kids running around and getting near any roads.
You dont need a car however as this apartment is right in the centre of Funchal and is within easy walking distance of everything.
Huge amounts of cupboard and wardrobe space in the bedrooms meant we werent tripping over empty suyitcases or buggies.
Everything was stored away which was the first time in a while we have managed to find enough draw and hanging space without using the suitcases for overflow as you have to in some apartments these days.
The kitchen was nice and large with everything you need on an everyday basis. A large fridge/freezer meant we could buy in bulk and not have to do lots of small runs to the supermarket.
So, many thanks to David and Manuela for providing us with a fantastic apartment, helping us to have a great time in Funchal.
We will definitely be coming back next year for another week or maybe two.

Just returned from this apartment and I must say we could not fault the apartment at all, large en-suite bedrooms we called them east and west wings.. Weather was fantastic site seeing fabulous even ventured on cable cars and taboggans it was great.
Taxi drivers are very friendly had a couple of tours with them as for four of us was cheaper than the tour bus. Just as people say the hill to walk back up to the apartment is heavy going on a full stomach but we managed it so am sure others can. L'osteria restaurant down the hill was our favourite restaurant special tourist menus 13.5 euros lots of extras too they served local flat bread with home made seafood pate and butter infused with basil even served a free drink in between the courses.
On our last day we found a great little restaurant in Funchal situated on the street behind the gardens opposit the Grand Cafe the street was called Rua Da Carreira restaurant was called Estraca (or something like that) Londres restaraunt was on the right and this was further up on the left. Well worth a visit 5 menus 3 courses and including coffee 8euros or 9.50 can you believe that give it a try we wish we had found it earlier.

The rental price is for the apartment per week up to a maximum of five persons. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking, with the balance of the rental payable six weeks before arrival.
A special rental price of 400 Pounds Sterling per week is available if only two persons are renting the apartment.
There are daily non-stop flights to Madeira from the U.K.
