This spacious 1200 square foot home has high ceilings, an open floor plan, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, 2 rear patio areas plus a front porch for enjoying the view or evening breeze. This unique custom built home is located on 2.2 acres with local wildlife, Joshua Trees, landscaped walkways and dozens of unique types of cactus blooming throughout the year. Unlike a lot of the properties in Joshua Tree, the streets are paved all the way to the entrance.
If you don't feel like driving, then a minutes walk up the street (900 yards) is where you'll find a trailhead to wander the untouched Joshua Tree Wilderness – trails, climbable rocky hills, 360 degree views of Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, 29 Palms and Joshua Tree National Park.

From our property atop a hill you get beautiful night village views as well as of the Southeastern Mojave Desert mountains. Two sides of the property are walled so you really feel like you are in your own private sanctuary with rabbits, quails and road runners who frequent the grounds – as well as doves, chipmunks, ground squirrels, wren, lizards, humming birds. Once the sun goes down, the property is visited by bats, occasional bobcats and owls. You will be amazed at the clear and vibrant starry skies here in Joshua Tree – when was the last time you saw the milky way? It's visible here along with all the other constellations.
Call it a retreat, refuge, sanctuary, oasis, getaway or hideaway – whatever word you choose will describe this beautiful vacation rental. (A second home, owner occupied, adjoins the vacation home - plenty of privacy on 2.2 acres.)

We're less than 6 miles from the West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, an 800,000 acre wilderness preserve, with groves of Joshua Trees, incredible gigantic boulders and some of the best rock climbing in the world.
About 2 miles from our Getaway is “Downtown” Joshua Tree which has art galleries, a yoga studio, adventure & hiking outfitter stores, a bakery, coffee and wi-fi, gift shops, great burgers and great vegan fare, even a (remarkably good) pizza parlor as well as other restaurants including Thai. A National Park Visitors Center is located right off the main drag, so you can park there and check out the shops before you head to our backyard, Joshua Tree National Park.
Just 35 minutes away is Palm Springs! Consider a day trip or just drive there to check out the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. If you do venture to Palm Springs for the day then consider a hike at Ladder and Painted Canyon.
Also consider going to the Living Desert.
About 40 minutes away is the famous 'Giant Rock' - a large freestanding boulder in the Mojave Desert near Landers, California, that covers 5,800 square feet of ground and is seven stories high. Giant Rock is purported to be the largest free standing boulder in the world.
If you're feeling adventurous - Salton Sea is less than 90 minutes away. Want to go to the ocean? Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is just 2 hours away. Would you like a little gambling? The Morongo Casino Resort is 40 minutes away (other Indian Casino's abound in the area) and Lake Havasu on the California/Nevada border is 3 hours away. In Laughlin you'll find casino's such as Harrah's & The Golden Nugget plus tourist attractions including the Davis Dam and the Colorado River. The London Bridge (Lake Havasu City) is a short detour along the way
There are many many great hikes in Joshua Tree National Park and the Visitors Center (6554 Park Blvd) can guide you to the best ones based on your interests and hiking ability.

Owners John and Pam both work in the Entertainment industry - Pam in television, John in features although they are now both semi-retired.
They love the desert and the fresh, clean air and natural surroundings and wildlife. Best of all - the lack of city crowds and traffic!
This vacation rental is fairly new to VRBO. They had been renting it privately. We take pride in our property and are responsive to any of our renters needs. Since we are local, we deal with our guests directly – from key exchanges, to cleaning, to repairs, and anything in between.
We love the house and vacation home because it was custom built with extra thick walls, has passive solar features, high ceilings and is in a quiet and secluded part of town. We love being able to walk 10 minutes to hike or just sit on the patio and watch the abundant wildlife. And because we're high up, we even have a view of the city lights.
Palm Springs is just 35-40 minutes away where there is live theater, a zoo, one of the world's highest aerial trams, museums, etc..
