Two floors. Suit singles, couples or family.

This charming house nestles in traditional working rice-fields in the village of Penestanan, but is only 15 minutes walk from central Ubud. It has two floors, with kitchen and bathroom on each, and separate entrances, so very suited either to renting one floor separately, or for singles or couples sharing the whole house, but with privacy and individual facilities. Each floor has a large double bed with mosquito nets and all linen supplied.

This area is a tranquil haven, with the nearest car access road 5-10 minutes walk away, but being a short and scenic walk to down-town Ubud (about 15 minutes). It is located in traditional working rice-fields, but centrally located for many of the attractions of this area, which include many fine restaurants, spas and very interesting shops selling all kinds of beautiful clothes, carvings and artefacts made in Bali.

Penestanan is known as a place to which artists and craftsmen of all kinds have migrated, and there are a number of museums and art collections nearby. Additionally, there are numerous dance performances which take place, and the visitor to Penestanan will likely witness one or more of the village ceremonies which Balinese culture is famous for. This area is also central, with easy access to tourist attractions further afield. A scenic drive of 45-60 minutes will take you to the beach, while further inland visit the springs at Tirta Ganga or the volcano Mount Agung.

Rates quoted are for renting the whole house, but it is possible to rent each floor separately. See link in 'Facilities' section' for more detail on this, and also for the rates on stays of one week and two weeks.

For each booking, there is a refundable deposit of $50.00US against damages. This amount also serves as a non-refundable deposit to secure the dates you want. Full amount payable in IDR equivalent on arrival.

The rental rates quoted are for maximum four people (2 upstairs and 2 downstairs). However, the downstairs can accomodate one extra person, at a rate of 50% of the quoted rental amount for the downstairs.
Your housekeeper can be available for extra tasks such as laundry, grocery shopping and transport by motorbike, for an hourly rate of about 25,000 IDR. We also have recommendations for trusted drivers, masseuses, beauticians for manicure and pedicure. There is a gardener included, to care for the outside of the property. Your rental includes registration with the police, which is required in Indonesia, and your housekeeper will see to this. You are advised to bring with you several photocopies of your passport

Downstairs shower area is traditional Balinese style, an outdoor enclosure with plants growing along the side. It is partly walled, and the roof consists of gables and climbing plants, making it secure. There is a vanity area and handbasin, with Western style toilet. There is a large wardrobe with hanging space, countertops of natural wood, and an exquisite carving. Upstairs bathroom has shower area, basin and vanity area, with Western toilet, including Indonesian-style hose. The floor is a traditional Balinese inset pebble design, with a frangipani motif under the shower area.

On both floors, the main room is a bed-sitting room, and there is a settee which can be used either indoors or on the balcony/verandah (not suitable for sleeping on). There is a wardrobe with hanging space on each floor. The downstairs has an extra single bed which can accomodate another person for sleeping, or it can be used as a day bed for resting or massage. Note that each floor can be rented separately. Upstairs can accomodate up to two people, and downstairs up to three. [Rental rates quoted are for two people - there is a 50% surcharge for the downstairs if the rental is for three people.]
