Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cabin in Broken Bow - The Cliffhouse At Bear Creek

Off-grid Luxury Glamping! 1 Bedroom, 1.5 Bathroom, Sleeps 5

The Cliffhouse is a very special place. A 1,000 sq ft cabin atop a mountain on 40 acres over looking Lake Broken Bow. Surrounded by 6,000 acres of National Forest and US Core of Engineer land. The ultimate in seclusion and privacy.

The locals describe the view as 'the best view in all of McCurtain county - period'.

Unparalleled hiking, mountain biking, bird watching right from your doorstep.

The Cliffhouse is entirely off-grid. We make our own power, water, hot water, and have our own septic system. Be 100% green and still have all the luxuries of home!

The Cliffhouse has one queen bedroom downstairs and a 350 sq ft queen loft bedroom upstairs.

The upstairs loft is accessed via ships ladder and has breathtaking views over the lake.

There is a full bathroom with shower and a half bath, both downstairs

The 600 sq ft deck faces the lake and has incredible panoramic views.

Max occupancy is two couples or a family of five.

The Cliffhouse may not be suitable for children under ten years old. (ladder)

Access - The Cliffhouse sits 5 miles off the highway and is accessed by US Forest Service roads. Its a beautiful drive, but you will need a car with some clearance and a bit of driving skill to make it in. We often times see white tail deer, turkey, and birds of prey including red tail hawks and various owls. The first 2 miles of the drive is easy, you can drive 25 mph. The remaining 3 miles is slower and requires some attention. You will cross 4 or 5 small creeks on the way in. Water is rarely more than 4 inches deep. There are also grades up to 12% on gravel roads.

There is cell phone service at the Cliffhouse. Verizon and AT&T works best. Sprint does not work at all. There is a new Verizon 4G LTE tower across the lake, we have seen speeds up to 15MB from the deck.

You will need to bring your own entertainment for the Cliffhouse. No cable TV planned for the near term.

ATVs - Seasonal riding is allowed on the surrounding US Forest Roads in May - Sept 15. However you need to review ALL the rules very carefully and follow them closely. No two up riding unless machine is specifically designed for such. All kids under 18 must wear helmets. STAY ON THE ROADS. No alcohol. The local rangers enjoy enforcing the rules to the last letter. Its possible for a group of riders to rack up several thousand dollars in fines......

About Debbie & Andy

Andy and I love to travel. We have been to many places such as Canada, Mexico, Hawaii and all over the US. We discovered Broken Bow, OK in 2007 when we began Boating and ATV'g. We instantly fell in love with the area. It quickly became our dream to own land inside of the National Forest. We realized our dream April of 2012. Andy and I immediately began construction on our cabin we call The Cliffhouse. We wanted to share our dream with everyone else as well. We invite to come out to The Cliffhouse. You will feel rejuvenated, relaxed and glad you came. Please give us a call or email us with questions.

Debbie & Andy purchased this cabin in 2012

Relaxing and Beautiful Wilderness Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We knew we were in a special place when we opened the door to my old land cruiser and heard nothing but the birds and wind through the pine trees. The cabin was great and comfortable, the hiking great and honestly, after a day I didn't miss TV or internet and enjoyed reading, looking out the window and sleeping. And as a bonus, hiking miles around, we saw no one. As the owners suggest, make sure you have a capable SUV / 4wd truck.

Unbeatable

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic getaway for my family. Spectacular view, great hiking, top tier accommodations. We will definitely be booking another trip and have told all our close friends about it. The owners are professional and helpful, and a pleasure to deal with. The cabin is remote, and isolated which is exactly what we wanted. Don't waste your money on options closer to town, the experience you will have in this location is worth the extra 20 minutes drive.

Back again

  • 5 of 5

This place is truly off the grid. This was our second time visiting and it was even better than the first because we knew what to expect! We truly enjoyed the first time but knowing what your going to enjoy ahead of time makes it even better. If you love photography like me, please take your camera and tripod because the views are absolutely amazing. Evidence = https://www.flickr.com/photos/64220437@N03/16390342504/

I digress!

Simply Amazing

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for a four day weekend getaway and it was simply amazing. We are no strangers to renting secluded cabins but this one tops the charts. It is "off the grid" as it says, but the amenities are supurb. The view from the front deck and cabin is absolutely amazing. The beauty of this place is definitely something to be experienced in person, the photos are good but being there is even better. If you are into nature, seclusion, and privacy, this place is definitely for you. I will say it is best to have a high clearance vehicle to get there because it is a 5 mile drive down a National Forest Service road and the way can be challenging for folks who may not have off road experience, but that is part of the fun! There is no TV or internet service but that makes for a very intimate experience with your special someone, just plain "family time," or quiet meditation and experiencing nature at it's finest. The trails surrounding the cabin make for very challenging and good hiking. I recommend the trail to the lake, Broken Bow Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes I have seen. My wife and I usually don't return to too many places we have been because we always like to go different places, but we will definitely be returning here. There are many things to do in the area, we did not get to do them all. I do recommend dining at the Grateful Head Pizza. For being out in the middle of nowhere it is some of the best pizza I have had. The cabin is cozy and perfect and you will find everything you need. I also recommend to light a campfire, grab some wine, turn the lights off, all of the lights, and go out side and experience the night sky. It is awesome! I would really like to thank Andy and his wife for providing such a beautiful place for people to experience. I appreciate the fact that you checked on us to make sure we arrived safely and had everything we needed. I also appreciate that you allow pets as well. One of my dogs is 12 years old and her age is starting to show, this is probably one of her last vacations with us. I think she enjoyed being a "mountain dog" if even for a little while. I was very sad to leave this place and go back to civilization. Again, thanks Andy, your place was well beyond my expectations and although I hate to recommend this place because I wish it could just be my little secret. Just go!

Luxurious Off-The-Grid Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I've been off off-the-grid before but never in such style. The building of this beautiful cabin in such a remote location is a considerable feat of engineering. From the very first moment we arrived we were in awe. The view of the night sky from the deck of the Cliffhouse is nothing short of spectacular. Watching the sunrise over the rolling hills on a cold winter morning from the couch inside the warm cabin is inspiring. Our time at the Cliffhouse was too short and can't wait to return. The proprietors couldn't have made our stay more welcoming and comfortable. If you want adventure, inspiration and seclusion, this place is for you.

BEAUTIFUL!!

  • 5 of 5

We had THE best time! What an incredibly beautiful place! Woke up every morning to the sunrise out on the deck and star gazed for hours in the evening. We hiked around the cabin and down to the lake....AMAZING! Just a peaceful, restful place. Andy was great to work with and always so quick to respond to all my questions. Cannot wait to go back!!! Already have my reservation in the books....LOVED it!
