Villa Poletti is owned by the same family since late 1800s. We are very happy to share the history and the beauty of this house.
Karin purchased this villa in 1800
The villa is very elegant and furnished with beautiful antiques. The location is stunning. Close to the small village S.Giovanni where you find all you need and just 3 minutes to downtown Bellagio by car.
The beautiful porch overviewing the lake is magical. As soon as you arrive you find peace, nature and historical beauties. Near the villa depart scenic trails with lovely walks that can take you to the summit of Mount St. First in order to fully appreciate the spectacle of the three branches of Lake Como and the newly discovered caves.
I enjoyed our spring break vacation in Villa Poletti. The check-in with Monika was smooth and relaxing. I was happy to find some complimentary seasonal fruit and Italian champagne upon arrival as well as some snacks and pasta so I did not feel the rush to get to the grocery store. For those who suffer from jet-lag there is a Lavazza Espresso/ Cappuccino machine easy to use and even the American coffee machine! Coffee is also provided for the first day. How convenient! Another amazing convenience was the beverage service delivery. I called the next day to have delivered water, sodas and local wines without having to deal with going to the grocery. The house is very luxurious, clean and immaculately presented. The rooms and bathroom are very spacious which is rare in Italian homes. It has the charm of an old classic villa nicely appointed with antique furniture but well remodeled. I was also happy to receive a Welcome Letter upon reservation with all the owners recommendations. I suggest to listen to them! My favorite part of my stay was to sit on the large grassy patio overlooking the lake and have a glass of wine. In fact, one evening we hired a local private chef and we were so happy to spend an evening relaxing and enjoying the villa and its views. At last, I would recommend waking up one morning and enjoy a three minute walk to the small village S.Giovanni and stop for a cappuccino and croissant at NENE bar. It is a convenient store with local products. Their bread is also the best! I am looking forward to return to Lake Como and stay at Villa Poletti again.
This is a quality, nicely appointed villa with a magnificent, soothing view of Lake Como from most rooms! It suited my family vacation perfectly. The host was kind enough to connect us with a beautiful local tennis club where the kids loved playing in the pool and making friends with the local kids. We also truly enjoyed boating around the lake which was made possible by our very hospitable hosts. They provided us with a rental motorboat large enough to take the family and that did not require a special license, and they made an overnight mooring available for us in the quaint little harbor of S.Giovanni below the villa. If it wasn't for frequent rain, which the locals said was very unusual in July, we would have used the boat every day. On two rainy days we ventured out by car and enjoyed visiting Como, Milano, and Bergamo. There are so many more things we want to do in this part of Italy that we plan to return soon. We will definitely stay at Villa Poletti again!
I was lucky enough to stay at Villa Poletti last month. The villa was nicely decorated and had modern amenities. I immediately felt comfortable and at home. Amazing panoramic views of the lake, and a great patio to sit and relax. The location is perfect, not too close or too far from Bellagio. We loved exploring Bellagio and taking the ferry to towns all over Lake Como. I truly hope I am lucky enough to go back!
The villa is even more beautiful and comfortable than the photos illustrate.
The views are astonishing and the whole feel is very welcoming and warm. It's extremely convenient to all the sites you might want to visit, if you can tear yourself away from the view. The manager, Monika, is knowledgeable, available and thoughtful. All the recommendations regarding restaurants, etc., were excellent. I'd go back in a second.
I had the good fortune to stay several days at the wonderful Villa Poletti. Old world charm with modern conveniences, beautiful terrace overlooking the lake and snow peaked alps. An easy walk to the shops and restaurants of Bellagio and the ferry docks. Plenty of room to spread out and relax, wifi, large bathrooms and bedrooms. I can't wait to return!
I can't imagine a more perfect place for appreciating the sheer beauty and pleasures of Lake Como and its surrounding villas and hill towns. Everything about this villa lived up to the descriptions on the website, and the actual furnishings and amenities were even more luxurious than the pictures indicate. From nearly every room, the views of the lake took our breath away, and the rooms themselves showed that they'd been well-maintained and modernized from one group of visitor to the next. The property manager was always available for questions, and every restaurant she recommended met us with warmth and a variety of reasonably priced, locally sourced, and delicious meals. I'd particularly suggest taking in the shopping and gelato in Bellagio, lunch at the restaurant on the Isola Comacina, and a tour of the Villa Balbianello. I'd definitely recommend this property to anyone interested in the best privately-owned lake view villa on Lake Como, particularly if they promised to take me back with them!
Villa Poletti is a magnificent home located in Bellagio with breathtaking views of the most beautiful part of Lake Como. It towers over the small hamlet of San Giovanni with its quaint harbor, boat landing, pebble beaches, historical church, restaurant, grocer and a small post office. Relax and enjoy the historical villa across the lake from almost everywhere on the property, including the grassy living room balcony and the terraced fruit-tree garden. The villa is located just 3 minutes by car to downtown Bellagio. If you are in the mood to explore you may walk 15 minutes to visit the amazing gardens of Villa Melzi or take a half hour stroll to downtown Bellagio.
