The perfect place to enjoy Kinsale

  • 5 out of 5
We were blessed in everyway by choosing this lovely, cosy cottage and the Indian summer weather. The cottage is in an idyllic setting with stunning views over the harbour from both the bedroom and livingroom. It is equipped with all that is required for an enjoyable stay. We did not cook very much apart from breakfast. Who would with the Spaniard inn on our doorstep with excellent food and music and friendly barstaff. We went to Mizen Head and did the Sandycove walk as recommended by Kathys husband. This was in addition to the Charle fort walk which begins just outside Harbour View and Compass Hill forthe most stunning view of very picturesque Kinsale. We had stayed in Kinsale self catering twice previously and this was by far our favourite place to stay. sad to leave and will return.

Dream like an adventurer, live like a local....

  • 5 out of 5
I am a travel agent who specialises in Irish travel, and have had the good fortune of visiting 24 times. I have laid my head on pillows in castles, manor houses, 5 star hotels and yet, where did I rest most comfortably? Harbour View. Perhaps it was because I allowed myself to believe that it was truly "home". It wasn't hard, since Kathy has assured the visitor the creature comforts in a locale that has one's heart yearning for a longer stay. I allowed myself a week here and while I had originally thought that would be plenty of time, I closed the door behind me for the last time quite reluctantly. Do take the Scilly Walk up to Charles Fort, make a regular out of yourself at the Spaniard and prop your feet up and enjoy life....

Beautiful Cottage

  • 5 out of 5
Loved this cottage, it was so cozy! We felt completely at home here. The cottage was just as described_cute, clean, and right near everything. The Spaniard was terrific. Food and atmosphere were perfect! Kinsale itself was amazing! We rented the cottage planning to use it as a home base, so we could explore Ireland. We only left Kinsale twice the entire week! There is so much to do and see!! Kitty O'Se and The White House had really nice pub food, and Fishy Fishy had some amazing, local fresh fish. Man Friday had delicious food as well. Actually, we didn'y have one meal the entire week that was less than perfect. I can't wait for our next trip to Kinsale, I would love to make Harbour View our yearly romantic getaway!!!

Beautiful cottage in an amazing setting!

  • 5 out of 5
We just spent the most relaxing, happy week in this cottage!!! The cottage itself is so adorable. Cozy, clean and comfortable. The views from the house are incredible, and from the terrace, they are breath taking! The Spaniard had delicious food, friendly people, great traditional music, and was right at our door. Kinsale was just beautiful. So clean and colorful. Every where we went, people were so friendly and nice. We didn't have on meal the entire week that wasn't delicious. I can't wait to come back.

A perfect stay!

  • 5 out of 5
We recently spent four nights at Harbour View Cottage and give it our highest recommendation. The location could not be more perfect – within easy walking distance of the town of Kinsale and yet in a quiet neighborhood with beautiful views. The cottage itself is perfect for two people. It is very well equipped and Kathy’s welcome supply of milk, coffee, tea, shortbread, and fruit and nut bread were much appreciated. We enjoyed being a short walk from The Spaniard and went there each afternoon for a drink, to check email, and visit with the locals. The best part of the cottage was the roof deck which had views of the water, forts, and Harbour of Kinsale. It was the perfect place for a morning cup of coffee or an evening drink. Kathy was very easy to work with. We hated leaving and hope to return to Kinsale and Harbour View Cottage some day.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 out of 5
Hello, Kathy - we are just back from our holiday and wanted to thank you for our wonderful time at your cottage. We just loved the Harbour View - so comfortably furnished and everything literally steps away from your door. And who knew we would take a trip to Ireland and come home tan? A couple of hours on the rooftop terrace with glasses of wine and some cheese/fruit - the sun did its work !! Your place was also very nicely stocked and you provided plenty of detailed area info, which we appreciated.

We look forward to a return to Kinsale and your great cottage.

Kinsale is a vibrant and picturesque harbour town with many restaurants, pubs and cafes set in historic and gaily painted, narrow, winding streets which make for delightful walking. Kinsale also has a rich and colourful history with forts built for King Charles and James lining the harbour. Historical walking tours are on offer as our boat trips round the harbour or just browse the many art galleries, museums, historic buildings and gift and craft shops. For the active there is deep-sea fishing, sailing, cycling, windsurfing and kayaking and many other activities. Golfing is available at the spectacular links at the Old Head of Kinsale, or nearer by at Ringenane or Farrangalway. Beaches are in abundance with a fantastic surfing beach at Garrettstown just 5 miles away or a protected cove at Castlepark just 1.5 miles away and within walking distance of Kinsale. Whatever your pleasure from history, to restaurants, to pubs, to shops, to activities Kinsale has it in abundance.

Other Activities: clay-pigeon shooting
