Located in a quiet street just off Morningside Rd,the area is served by many buses, running frequently to the city centre, Princes Street and Royal Mile in 10 minutes, or walk to the old town in 15 minutes. On street metered parking, and free parking close by. Walk to superb cafes, excellent pubs, supermarkets and lovely little individual shops. The apartment is serviced and run by the owners and we supply thick towels, 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen and give you a welcome tray to get you started. A popular and interesting area of the city in which to relax after a day's sightseeing. The new kitchen has an induction hob and fan assisted oven, dishwasher,microwave, washing machine, fridge and freezer. Very well stocked with new crockery, cutlery, pans, cook's knives and utensils for four people. Bathroom has a new white suite of bath, shower, basin and WC. We have equipped the apartment specifically for self catering with everything we could think of to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. We manage it ourselves and give great care in cleaning, maintaining and updating all facilities, information and equipment. We have a well established five gold star (Scottish Tourist Board) B&B in Edinburgh, Violet Bank House, and have several awards for high standards. We give the same care and attention to detail to this apartment and our guests..

About Reta and John MacLennan
Together with husband John, we have a B&B which has won Five Star Gold Award from the Scottish Tourist Board and Five Stars from the AA with a special award for our breakfasts. We expanded our high standards into also running our two apartments in the city.
Prior to that I had a career as a Trainer and Manager of Quality Advisors for the Scottish Tourist Board, with the responsibility of driving up standards in facilities and services across the whole tourism product.
John is a retired CE of a very well established Civil and Structural Engineering Company in Edinburgh and now is the creative chef in our B&B.
John's hobbies are bee-keeping and curling, mine are singing in a choir and writing, and we both enjoy hillwalking and gardening.
We have a wide circle of friends and just love when they pop in or join us for a meal. We holiday mostly in Europe and the UK and have had a couple of trips to Florida, Canada and South Africa, staying at the best places of course because we never stop learning.

Why Reta and John MacLennan chose Morningside
We chose this apartment primarily for its location. Situated in the Morningside area of Edinburgh it has all the amenities close by that any self catering guest would need. Morningside is a vibrant area with many shops, bar, restaurants, theatre and cinema. The apartment is in a quiet street a few minutes walk from the main road that runs through Morningside. This is services by many buses that all pass through the city centre within 10 minutes. Alternatively guests can choose to stroll through the leafy streets and across the Meadows Park and into the Old Town area of Edinburgh. This takes around 30 minutes to walk. Many of our returning guests prefer to remain in the Morningside area for a few days of their stay and soak up the local atmosphere.

Owners Reta & John are very friendly & hospitable and nothing is too much trouble.
The apartment has everything you need for a short or long stay.It is well equipped with a washer/dishwasher/microwave/Iron/ TV etc. The bedrooms are large and the beds are extremely comfortable. The apartment is furnished to a high standard. The neighbourhood is friendly and the apartment is situated in a quiet residential street, yet close to many amenities, such as Waitrose Supermarket and the local cinema.
Tips for other travellers:
The apartment is situated on a road very near [5 mins. walk] to a main bus route into Edinburgh centre. Morningside itself has many lovely shops and restaurants/cafes. If you purchase a day bus ticket for £3.50 you can travel into and out of the city centre from Morningside as many times as you want in a day. We visited Edinburgh Castle, went to the Odeon Cinema, saw a concert at the Queens Hall and spent a day at the Botanic Gardens, as well as having a meal at the 'Thai Lemongrass' resteraunt (highly recommended) & breakfast at one of the cafes a couple of stops down from where we were staying on the bus route into Edinburgh.[We had a fun-packed 2 night stay and I can thoroughly recommend the apartment!] This was the second time I have stayed there and I will be returning hopefully soon~ for another break in a great city!
