When you're done relaxing there is a variety of activities to be found throughout the lush gardens of Pono Kai Resort and within a short drive around the island. Numerous golf and tennis resorts are within easy reach of Kapaa, as are all the natural wonders of the 'Garden Island.'
The unit itself offers you a beautifully decorated and comfortable place to sleep 4 people in 2 large bedrooms; both furnished with king-size beds. There is no sleeper-sofa in the unit, but several futons are usable for children. The kitchen is appointed for people who like to cook, and wifi is free.

I grew up in Santa Cruz, and spent at least a week every summer on one of the Islands (Usually Kauai) Dad Moved to Kilauea full time in 2000 and I followed him I few years later in 2004. I work in Oahu for Hawaiian Airlines so I split most of my time between Oahu and Kauai. The plan is to take advantage of empty blocks in the rental to vacation in the condo with friends from Oahu and Kauai. I love to travel but I also would not trade calling Hawaii home for anywhere.

I love this property because it is so central to Restaurants , cafes, bars, and shopping in Old town Kapaa, and it's right on the water. Waking up to the sunrise from the master bedroom or the living room never gets old. The relatively new bike/walking path is also a huge draw for me. I love to run in the mornings or grab and bike and go for a long ride along the water away from all the road traffic.
This condo in Pono Kai is really the best of all worlds.
The Condo itself is a corner unit which not only the most roomy in the complex, but also have windows on three sides. Its a ground floor unit which allows you to walk right outside your sliding doors past your lanai to the water and bike path. Being on the ground floor makes your lanai extent into the lawn. The Pono Kai resort is beautifully landscaped and has many activities peppered through out. Parking is convenient and close but unless you are going sightseeing around the island you could spend your whole vacation in and around the resort. Also the town of Kapaa has many restaurants and food shopping but location on the island is almost half way between the west side and the end of the road on the north shore.
We stayed in this condo for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Years. It was very clean and well appointed and very well located ( we used the bike/walking path daily). It is mid way between the North and South of the island so we were able to easily travel where ever or stay put. We used the lanai often for meals and it was extremely convenient being on the main floor. Sometimes we would have a glass of wine in the evening just sitting on the lanai listening to the ocean or playing cards - lovely. There are lots of stores and shops very close by. Doug's father, Alec sent 3 big boxes of all sorts of amazing exotic fruits right from his orchard. They were fabulous. Can't wait to return!!
We just completed a week in this wonderful unit. The condo is spacious, light, airy, scenic and perfectly located to walk into town, or drive to any part of the island. The grounds are wonderfully maintained. Staff is friendly. The owner is very responsive to all questions. The view out the lanai is breathtaking. This is our 5th trip to Kauai, and is by far the most relaxing place we have stayed. Felt so at home we were not ready to leave.
My parents and my husband and I were here for 10 days and found this place hard to beat. Convenient to go north or south. Love the decor. The putting green just outside the back door was used nearly everyday. The walking/bake trail was used daily and sometimes twice a day. My husband who uses a wheelchair was especially blessed by the trail, pushing 4 or miles at a time. The listing describes this place accurately. The pictures show how clean the property is and the views are fantastic. The owner came over to fix our small problem with the DVD player and brought us fresh fruit! The property manager was helpful upon check in and was available for us during our stay. We absolutely loved this place and will try to stay here on our next trip to Kauai.
This is a great condo for families. Very spacious and easily accomadated 4 people, but could have held more comfortably. The grill outside the unit was a nice treat, the pool was really nice and the location felt close to everything, including grocery stores. Doug was in contact with us almost daily to make sure everything was going well and regularly offered to find information about activities and restaurants! This is a kid friendly place, but also still quiet and enjoyable for all kinds of travelers. There was so much to do insure or within walking/biking distance that it was difficult to get my family to leave the resort.
I would like to keep this place a secret but I will share so others can enjoy. I would give this property and property owner more stars if I could. Doug was so attentive from the time of inquiry until departure. He even text days before check-in to see if I needed any recommendations or assistance (since I had been on the island a week already) He gave me his dad's address and I stopped by and picked up a HUGE box of fruit and vegetables and two perfect coconuts ready to drink with straws included! The place was very clean and quiet. The sunrises were amazing. It was wonderful to awake to the view from the bedroom. It is conveniently located on the Coconut Coast bike path. We rented bikes for the week and just parked them in the living room when we didn't need them. Walking distance to the downtown area and a quick bike ride to the Coconut Coast Plaza made this an ideal location.
The location of the Resort is very central to get anywhere on the island and also walking distance to many beaches, shops, restaurants and bars in Kapaa.
