What makes this cottage unique

In just a short 10 min. drive , you'll be in the town of Strasburg. Stop and enjoy your favorite flavor ice cream at the famous Creamery and watch the buggies go by. Then take a ride on the railroad , have dinner in the dining car and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Maybe even see Thomas if he is in town.

From there go on up 5 miles to the outlets , lots of shopping, antiques, many restaurants .

This location is centrally located . Lots to do and see.

Perfect home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a quiet getaway for a few days and were very happy with our stay at this lovely cottage. Everything was perfect and so clean and well kept. We were able to relax and enjoy the surrounding countryside without any worries. A great find for anyone looking to have a home away from home.

A Great Find

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 4 days in your lovely cottage and could not have been more pleased. The location was perfect......enjoyed seeing all the amish families nearby. Yet close enough to all the great shopping and dining ! We were looking forward to a delivered meal from our Amish neighbor "Rachel" but due to our busy schedule were not able to fit it in. We defininately plan to return and stay in your great home .

DELIGHTFUL AND LOVELY COUNTRY COTTAGE.

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a week at "White Oak Cottage" (10/14-22/14). It is in a beautiful country setting. Decorated in a country theme (but not overdone) it is very comfortable. Wonderful cross breezes coming through the windows. The house was sparkling clean when we arrived. We took advantage of the linen package as we were flying in from NM. The beds were comfortable, with cozy comforters, quilts on them. The pillows were great. A family of 6 could easily sleep here. Our hostess, Julie was accommodating, friendly, kind and helpful. We were in the heart of Amish country and while I grew up in Lancaster County, I've been away from "home" for quite some time. It was comforting to here the "clip clop" of the horses again. We were busy most of the time so we didn't spend much time on the patio. The only thing I would change would be to move the washer and dryer upstairs. But the way the house is configured i don't think that is feasible. We are older so the flight of steps to the basement was a challenge. But, we managed and even played some pool while waiting for the laundry. The family room in the basement is very nice and would be great if there are "tweens" and teens in your group. They could have there own space. I would stay again, and take advantage of the Amish neighbors meals that you can get delivered to the doorstep.

Lancaster Area Visit

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I along with her college roommate and her husband spent four most pleasant days in Julie's cottage near Strasburg. It was just as advertised on VRBO's site and better than the pictures portray. We loved the nearness to Amish homes and took a 3.8 mile walk on Sunday evening. Got caught by darkness on our walk and a local Amish teen in his "courting buggy" gave my wife and I a ride back to the cottage. What a treat! We attended church at Latta Presbyterian in Christiana on Sunday morning and enjoyed the service and the warm hospitality of the members. We stayed for post worship fellowship and snacks and did not leave until 1:30 PM. On Saturday we had visited the Underground RR museum and spotted the church. On Friday we attended the Moses production at Sight & Sound Theatre and would highly recommend it to anyone. We also did some antique shopping in Adamstown and other areas. We located about seven (7) of Lancaster County's 31 covered bridges and took photos. Some are better than others, but interesting and easy to locate with a GPS & coordinates. We strolled downtown Strasburg and stopped at a bakery shop. A highlight of our cottage stay was a Friday evening meal prepared by our Amish neighbor, Rachel. She was so helpful and the meal was excellent and bountiful. Sorry about Rachel's mom's illness and will keep her in our prayers. Would visit again in a heartbeat!

Julie,

Thank you for allowing us to stay at your wonderful cottage. It far exceeded our expectations! we enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the horse and buggies go by and the amish children were so kind and respectful. We loved the fact that we were in the country but only minutes from the restaurants and most of the attractions. Thank you for recommending the train ride from Lancaster to NYC. It is an experience we'll never forget. Spending the day there was one of the highlights of our trip. Your home was clean and very comfort table. We were able to get much needed rest and relaxation. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend this home away from home to anyone who wants to visit this area.
