Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Portland - Cumby Homes
2 stories, 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath, walk everywhere, expansive city and water views.
Between the Eastern Promenade and the Old Port stands Munjoy Hill, a friendly, colorful neighborhood with restaurants, a local foods grocer, cafes, art center. Munjoy Hill is a 10-15 minute walk to the Old Port's shopping, restaurants and nightlife ('downtown') - and a 5-10 minute walk to the grassy fields, playground, and beach at the Eastern Promenade (Portland's prettiest waterfront park.)
Our vacation rental is the top two stories of an apartment building on top of the hill, directly facing the Portland Observatory with views to the ocean, the harbor, and over the whole city. Sunny, spacious, and comfortable, the 2-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom apartment has everything you need for your Portland vacation.
Built in 1886 our building combines old world charm with completely renovated apartments. The vacation rental is a two-story apartment with two bedrooms (queen bed and double bed) and two bathrooms on the building's third floor. The master bathroom has a custom tile shower. The hallway bathroom has a bathtub shower. Both bathrooms have radiant floor heat. The fourth floor is an open floor plan with a modern kitchen, den area with Smart TV, plenty of chairs for lounging, and a small powder room. The maple wood floors and modern fixtures are all brand new. The triple-glazed windows (made in Maine!) keep it comfortable year-round.
We live part-time in another apartment in the building. We're happy to help you plan your Portland vacation. This vacation rental is new and we are still putting the finishing touches on the building (minor landscaping, painting.)

About Stephanie Dunn
My husband Mark and I live in rural Maine but have spent the past year in Portland renovating this building. Though our 'day jobs' consist of computer work we enjoyed building our home in the woods and wanted to keep on building. Portland drew us in with fantastic food from the restaurants to the farmers' markets, and kept us returning for live music, art walks, local brews, and beautiful nearby beaches.
Stephanie Dunn purchased this apartment in 2009
Why Stephanie Dunn chose Portland
Once we visited Munjoy Hill we didn't want to stay anywhere else in Portland. The neighborhood is friendly with interesting architecture. We can easily walk to nightlife in the Old Port (without having to hear it while trying to sleep.) I love jogging the trail around the Back Cove and over to the East End Beach. We enjoy making dinner with fresh seafood from the Harbor Fish Market and fresh produce from Rosemont - both within walking distance. We rarely get in a car when we're in Portland.
What makes this apartment unique
The views from our fourth floor are some of the best in Portland. Watch the moon rise behind the Portland Observatory or the sun set over the Back Cove with The Presidential Mountains in the distance. See the fireworks from Sea Dogs games. We often hear 'wow' as people crest the stairs to the fourth floor for the first time. It is a wow apartment.
