Charming, Clean One Bedroom, One Bath Cottage in the heart of downtown Missoula.

Make this private cottage your home away from home in Missoula! It is located one block from the heart of downtown where you’ll find shopping, restaurants and entertainment just around the corner. This one-bedroom cottage is clean, cozy, and inviting. It is just over 700 square feet with a great floor plan and lots of big windows. If you love natural light, then this is the place for you! This cottage is set up with the traveler in mind – fully equipped with everything you will need (details below) including Wi-Fi and cable TV.

It is difficult to find a VRBO unit in downtown Missoula that offers these unique benefits:

We offer all of the above in a location that is only one block from the heart of our wonderful downtown! If you want more information … read on … descriptive details about the cottage are provided below so that you will know exactly what to expect. The one comment that we repeatedly hear from our guests is 'This is so much better than a hotel'.

Verbal tour of the cottage from the front to the back:

One of our favorite features of this cottage is the big tall windows in every room, especially the bay windows in both the dining area and the living room. These windows are all new (installed in 2013) with blinds. If you like fresh air they are equipped with screens.

Outside: There are decks on both the north side and the south side of the house, so, you can pick sun or shade and enjoy the quality outdoor seating.

During the growing season, there are lots of pots filled with flowers and the lawn is lush and green thanks to the automatic irrigation system. There are several big shade trees that help to keep the cottage cool and more private during the summer months.

There in an antique fence and gate across the front of the lot and there is plenty of room to park two cars in the driveway.

Living Room: The front door opens off of the north deck into the living room where you will find comfortable seating, a large flat screen television with DVD, and a cozy electric fireplace that can be used with or without heat. If you are travelling with kids, the leather futon easily converts to a queen sleeper (linens and bedding provided). The flooring is wood with a large area rug.

Dining Room: There is a table with seating for four next to huge south facing bay windows – a great place for morning coffee. The flooring is wood with an area rug. This is also where you will find a bookshelf (with several books about Missoula and Montana) and a closet full of games. On the other side of the dining room we provide up-to-date local information, maps, menu’s, event schedules, etc.

Bedroom: There is one small bedroom (just off the dining room) with a new queen bed, two beside tables, a small closet, and a “hall tree” cabinet which provides a convenient platform for luggage. The closet is stocked with plenty of hangers and extra blankets and bedding. This is the only carpeted room in the cottage.

Kitchen: The kitchen is big and well-equipped with everything you will need including: quality flatware, dishes, glassware, wine glasses, pots and pans, tupperware, cooking utensils, mixing bowls, measuring cups, cutting boards, spices, cutlery, etc.

There is a cook top/convection microwave combination, a toaster oven and a variety of small appliances (blender, rice cooker, crock pot, coffee pot, electric tea pot). In the kitchen, you will also find supplies such as: coffee, paper towels, dish soap, napkins, spices, sugar, garbage bags, tape, scissors, pens, etc. We try to have everything you might need so that you don’t have to run out and buy anything. The kitchen does not have a dishwasher or a full-size oven. However, their is a large convection/toaster oven ... so you can bake smaller items.

There are two windows in the kitchen (south side and north side). In the summer, the north kitchen window has a new air-conditioning unit that keeps the entire cottage cool and comfortable during the few weeks that A/C is needed. The kitchen floor is Marmoleum. The door to the south deck and driveway is in the kitchen.

Bathroom: The bathroom is tiled and it features an old fashioned claw-foot tub with a nice shower. Since every room in this cottage has at least one big window, so too does the bathroom, but the window shades and shower curtains provide all the privacy that you will need. Just like a hotel, we provide soap, shampoo & conditioner and a blow dryer. We also have emergency supplies available in the medicine cabinet in case you forget something such as toothpaste.

Utility Room: The utility room has a washer and dryer behind bi-fold closet doors. The shelf above the washer and dryer has labeled baskets with extra towels, other supplies, and toys for kids. There is another small broom closet (this is where you will find the iron and a small ironing board) and a big window.

We are proud to be able to offer this historic cottage in such a prime location. It has privacy with a neighborhood feel even though it is just a few steps from the center of downtown. Why stay in a 200 square foot hotel room when you can enjoy outdoor decks with a nice lawn, a spacious kitchen, washer & dryer, and off-street parking?

After you park your car, you can stroll to plentiful dining, entertainment, shopping and outdoor recreation opportunities. The University of Montana and St. Pats Hospital are also within short walking distance ... not to mention the museums, theaters, library, post office, riverfront trail, Carousel for Missoula, and the list goes on.

Our location is across the street from the brand new state-of-the-art Peak Health & Wellness Center. Guests can purchase a week-long pass at the Peak for $25.00 or a day pass for $10.00.

Also, across the street is the Jungle Child Care Center at the Peak (open 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.) If you have immunization records for your child (age 6 weeks to 7 years) - you can use their 'drop-off' service for $5.00/hour.

The historic Northern Pacific Railroad Depot and a small city park are one block north of the cottage (see photos and map). Please be aware that there is train activity on these tracks. This is also the location of the famous Missoula farmers market on Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings (May-October).

The Mizz Pattee guest house is a great place to stay when you are in Missoula MT. It is super clean, has everything you need and a nice surprise in the fridge just for you. And the fishing is the best so bring your fly rod and have a great time.

Perfect home in the heart of Missoula

We couldn't have picked a better home in Missoula to continue on our monthlong trip thru Montana! We arrived to a sparkling clean home in immaculate condition! Our neighbor greeted us with a wave and we already felt apart of the neighborhood! There is a great off street parking spot that we truly parked the car for the next 3 days....so nice! We walked all over the area which has some terrific restaurants and shops! Lots of music and outdoor dining! We ate at the Old Post which also had a terrific HH. We enjoyed the Oxford for a great steak dinner ( hand cut steaks for a steal with great sides for $14.95!!!!). We had lunch at Worden's Deli which was good! Drinks and apps at Plonk was fun! The Pearl was a nice splurge for dinner. The brewery at the Railroad was nice too! There are sooo many places all right near our rental home that you can't go hungry or bored! On Wednesdays, the park at the River ( a few blocks walk ) does a great lunch with food carts and live music! We thoroughly enjoyed the Farmers Market that was only a step away from the house at the old Train Station on Tues nite from 5:30- 7:00pm! We loved both decks on the house for people watching and cocktails! Our dear hostess, Jill, left us a beautiful Welcome basket that we thoroughly enjoyed! The home is beautifully decorated, well thought out for our every comfort! All that is described is truly here in this lovely home! We had a blast here! Can't wait to come back again someday! Wonderful Montana hospitality!

It is great that you mentioned some of your favorite nearby restaurants and events. The lunch event that you mentioned on Wednesdays is our famous weekly "Out-to-Lunch" (June-August) and there is a similar music and food festival on Thursday evenings called "Downtown Tonight". Both events are at our beautiful Caras Park on River just a few blocks from the cottage. So glad you got to enjoy the spirit of downtown Missoula during your stay.

Great Place for 2

Unfortunately, I was alone on a motorcycle trip, but I lucked into renting this wonderful place for the Labour Day weekend. I parked the bike for a couple days and walked everywhere I wanted to go. I checked online for the location of the famed farmer's market, and all I had to do was open the blinds in the living room. It was 1/4 block away. Restaurants, bars, markets, running/walking trails, historical neighbourhood - the location could not be better. You are instantly a local when you move in here. Jill had a wonderful gift basket in the tidy and functional kitchen waiting for me. After a long day's ride, it was a welcome sight. The cottage is everything that is advertised and more. Jill is super accommodating and the whole experience was easy and all you have to do is relax and take in this beautiful university town. It is perfect for 2 but a small family will find everything they need here. Thanks for everything Jill. I will be back with my wife next time.

Location, location, location! This is a great little house in the heart of downtown Missoula. It is just one block off of North Higgins Avenue (the heart of downtown Missoula). Enjoy the use of off-street parking and walk everywhere. Easy access to a selection of quality restaurants, breweries, wine bars, bakeries, coffeehouses, specialty shops, the University of Montana and the Griz Stadium, the Missoula Art Museum; the Missoula Public Library; St. Pat's Hospital; the Community Theater; the Clark Fork River Front, Greenough Park; MOBASH (a free, outdoor, lighted, concrete skatepark); CURRENTS (an indoor aquatic center), The Carousel for Missoula, Dragon Hollow (a children's play structure/park) and Brennan's wave - a freestyle kayaking 'wave'.

The renowned Missoula Farmer's Market is just outside the front door every Saturday Morning (May-October) and the brand new Peak Health and Wellness Facility is across the street.

Missoula offers a variety of recreational opportunities with a variety of rivers to float and trails to hike. The Rattlesnake Wilderness and Snowbowl Ski area are just a few miles away. There are plenty of golf courses and mountain biking trails too.

Travelling with kids or just someone who is young at heart? There is so much for them to do and see within walking distance of the cottage. Here is a sample: You can start right outside the front door at the Northern Pacific Railroad Depot where they have a beautiful old steam locomotive and other equipment on display. Afterward, you can stop at the Sweet Peaks ice cream shop (just around the corner) on your way to the Missoula Art Museum followed and/or the SpectrUM hands-on science museum. From there you may want to stop by the Missoula Public Library to enjoy their fantastic facilities for kids before you stroll another few blocks down to the river trail where you can watch the kayakers at Brennan's wave. When you finish there, you will want to check out the famous Carousel for Missoula and the wonderful Dragon Hollow playground! Afterward, you can grab a meal at any number of nearby restaurants before you decide if you want to go on to the Missoula Children's Museum or perhaps the Mobash skate park, or the Currents indoor water park. Still have energy to burn? Make sure to hike up to the 'M' on Mount Sentinel or the 'L' on Mount Jumbo. Of course, during nice weather you can rent bikes or tubes from the Army Navy store (also just around the corner from the cottage) and float down the Clark Fork or bike next to the river for miles on the adjacent paved river trail. All of this and so much more is within walking distance of the cottage. If you still have energy at night, you can take in a movie, a play, or another event at any number of nearby venues including: the Wilma Theater, Missoula Community Theater (MCT), the Roxy Theater, the Crystal Theater or any of several venues just across the river at the University of Montana. All of the above mentioned kid-friendly ideas are within walking distance of the cottage. Kids of all ages (including adult kids) could be entertained for days.
