We are passionate about our land and the animals it supports. If you have an interest in pasture management and buffalo, we'll happily talk your ears off! Campfires, star gazing, sunsets, and horseback riding are our favorite things to enjoy together.
Amy purchased this lodge in 2012
When we arrived Sunday afternoon, December 8, at the most incredible, soon-to-explode jewel of Missouri, Buffalo Lodge, for a birthday get-away, I was blown away. I have heard rumblings of this “got-to-see-it-to-believe-it” locale and my wife deemed it closer than Big Cedar Lodge (one of my frequented birthday celebration venues) and perhaps almost as nice. She was correct on the former (only 50 minutes from Leawood) and mistaken on the latter…it was every bit as wonderful as that hallowed Ozarks vacation heaven.
We arrived in a dusting of snow, though every step from drive to front door had been swept away. A fresh wreath on the door greeted us as we entered into the pine-finished paradise called “The Lodge.” None of the pictures do it justice. The attention to detail by the owners is almost OCD. Not a speck of grit, dust, cobwebs, burned out bulbs, stains, smears. Our room was topped by freshly pressed sheets, fluffy towels, soft music and an almost zen level of peacefulness. Even the stoneware plates were stacked in correct color sequence! We enjoyed personalized (and beautifully printed) menus prepared in-house by Chef Jaymie who created dinners of chicken parmesan one evening and bison steaks the next. Both were so tender, I could cut them with a fork.
The next morning, I enjoyed the expansive glass windows as I watched the snow drift across the pastures. Not a human in sight. Outside…not a single sound. Nirvana!
On Day Two, the in-house masseuse arrived to provide 90 minute massages in front of the fireplace. In the afternoon, we did a little day-tripping to nearby Greenwood and Pleasant Hill before returning for dinner.

My husband and I wanted a vacation rental that we could enjoy and share with our entire family ... which includes grown children and grand children and the Buffalo Lodge was perfect. We were able to all stay, relax, cook and play in a spacious lodge with plenty of room to spread out and we love the fact that it was only about 30 min to get into Kansas City to visit our family and friends. Our family was treated to a hayride which included getting an up close view of the buffalo ... where else can you say that ?
This was a Christmas that will be remembered by our family and we hope to vacation there again in the future.
The Harris family
My family all gathered together at the Buffalo Lodge to enjoy a Thanksgiving together.
We could not have been more pleased. The lodge itself is incredibly well appointed from the living areas to the bedrooms to the kitchen. We enjoyed the fireplace in the great room, The ping pong table was a big hit with the kids (and adults), the media room was far enough away that those wanted a quiet place to read weren't bothered by the movies the kids watched downstairs and the bedrooms very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the hayride out to see the Bison and even had a chance to try our hand at fishing - poles, tackle and bait provided. What was even more pleasant was the solitude the surroundings provided. We felt like we were on our own without any intrusion from others while there. The lodge is set back to give you then sense that the whole property is yours to enjoy! I cannot say enough about Amy and Michael. Very hospitable people who were available if we needed them but didn't intrude at any time. An incredibly wonderful vacation that provided our family a milestone to look back upon fondly. Would recommend this to anyone looking to leave behind the trappings of the city and re-aqquaint themselves with one another.
The Buffalo Lodge was even more special than the pictures we saw online. It was very spacious and the decor was beautiful. The Lodge was well supplied with not only kitchen needs but laundry, entertainment, fishing, wonderful campfire items.....anything we wanted for a great family vacation. The Buffalo Tour was interesting and even gave us a chance to feed the great animals. What fun. With Kansas City only about 45 minutes away we could spend time in the city and then return to the peace and quiet of the Lodge. Amy greeted us when we got there and was very helpful. We would absolutely recommend The Buffalo Lodge.
Home was in perfect condition with comfortable beds. It was a great place to meet up with friends on a cold winter weekend. The fireplace in the living room is awesome.
My family of 12 spent two days at Buffalo Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! The lodge itself is beautiful and the attention to detail in the furnishings and decorations make it feel very homey and comfortable. The highlight of our weekend was the buffalo tour - every member of our party enjoyed it!
We rented this beautiful lodge for an extended family get together and it was perfect! We had 6 adults and 6 kids (4 mo.-16). There was something for everyone to enjoy… from the beautiful views, to the buffalo tour, to the extremely well stocked kitchen, to the ping pong table and theatre room. Everyone loved it! It was relaxing and the open floor plan helped in keeping us all together even though we weren't all doing the same thing. The owners were wonderful and made sure that we had everything we needed. The buffalo tour was very informative and fun for all ages. We would definitely consider returning again sometime in the near future!
