|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
This whimsical home is located in the desirable East Pensacola Heights neighborhood. If you like the quiet while at home, yet want to be close to all the action, then this is the place for you.
Skirt around the coast and enjoy the white sand beaches fifteen minutes away, downtown Pensacola with it's variety of restaurants, shops, port and stadium within five minutes. Access to the Pensacola Naval Aviation Museum through the Pensacola NAS front gate also within ten/fifteen minutes. We are also in close proximity to the Pensacola International Airport, hospitals such as Sacred Heart, Baptist and The Andrews Institute.
This two bedroom/one bath home is nicely decorated, very clean and well stocked. It is for the guest that desires and appreciates a true, 1930's Pensacola cottage which boasts it's original hardwood floors as well as modern amenities like granite countertops and newer appliances.
While this home can sleep up to four, it is primarily intended for a couple or small family's get-away.
We are convinced that our guests receive the best value of any place in town. One flat nightly rate, short (2 night) minimum stay, no cleaning fee, rent not due until 7 days prior to arrival and because we know life can abruptly change the best made plans, we are extremely flexible on cancellation requests.
Our mission is to make sure we provide every comfort to all our guests. Should something not be quite right, we will strive to take care of it immediately.
Our house has been a pleasurable pastime...our labor of love. We fancy the idea of devoting our passion into a home with character and 'good bones' by bringing it back to life. For us, it is fulfilling to take part in beautifying a neighborhood one house at a time. It is just another way for our family to be productive members of society.
Tim and Evie Thoner purchased this house in 2009
We LOVE the location. Being of a military background, our family knows how important it is to be supportive of our fellow men and women in uniform. Whether it be a pilot's first solo flight, a graduation, or coming to see the Blue Angels fly, this home is perfect for extended family and friends visiting a loved one stationed at NAS. It is also very ideal for internship's...located on the same road as Sacred Heart Hospital and 5 minutes to all downtown law firms.
From this location, you can explore Pensacola and the surrounding area easily and efficiently. There is a locals favorite deli/market (Apple Market) with full service espresso/Coffee bar 3-4 blocks away. Public park with water access (suitable for kayak/ paddle board) 2 blocks away, park with baseball field and children's playground 2 blocks away. Marina and Public boat ramp very close. Many Fantastic restaurant's within 1/2 mile. And of coarse the worlds most beautiful beaches 10-15 min away!!!
Dear Tim & Evie,
We had such an amazing week! We really appreciate your allowing us to stay in your adorable home. Your recommendations for children were wonderful! The kids had a BLAST at Cowboy Park, and we loved the fish tacos at The Oar House! Our 4-year-old wants to live here forever! Thank you so much for your hospitality, generosity, and kindness! We look forward to returning!
Thank you for an excellent stay. The property was wonderful and the location was very convenient. We look forward to staying again!
Except for being a little too far from the historic downtown to walk, everything about this cottage was perfect for us. It is quiet, well maintained, and the owners are very quick and responsive. We would definitely stay here again.
the cottage is absolutely lovely! I wish I could take it home with me and put it somewhere closer by. the standard is great, the upkeep is great. the space is great, the location is great. that said… we booked it for our family with 2 young children (1 and 4). the garden (lawn) was one of the reasons we booked this place as we were gonna spend a lot of time at ´home´. there is no lawn, there is some grass, but besides that it is mainly dark sand which turns into mud when it rains (and it did). there were also quite a few goats heads. there is no way our one year old could crawl around there… and the four year old generated a lot of laundry! there was also no garden furniture, but after a few days day brought a picnic table. we were also missing the grilling utensils. so, the indoor area absolutely great, but we were hoping to spend most of our days outside, and that was not possible… so I recommend this place to anybody except for families with little ones...
Hesitant to push this property - we'd really like to keep it for ourselves, you see! But I must come clean and be honest in reporting it was the Best Property for the best price I've ever come across. My family has traveled to various places across the country using VRBO for years, so I've come to feel competent in doing a good search. That said, I was still surprised to find this property was all it promised and more.
The front porch swing was our favorite spot. My husband and I were there 3 nights to see a son graduate at Naval Base nearby. We've only recently become empty-nesters so it did our heart a world of good to be back in a small neighborhood with such a friendly community feel. Turned out the week we visited was Spring Break. Not something I'd usually wish on any traveler our age. ha! But we were delighted to hear backyard football games being pursued in the evenings, moms w/strollers using sidewalks, & dad/kids out riding bikes in the early evening. Felt Safe. (Oh, and there's a fantastic grocery mart for take-out nearby.)
The house had all it needed but no more, which in my mind makes for a simple, uncluttered stay. All was clean when we arrived w/plenty of closet and drawer space for our things. I particularly appreciated the allocated office bar area off LR for designated computer access.
We enjoyed meeting and visiting w/Evie on an afternoon when she was making sure trash was put out for next morning. In fact, conversation was so enjoyable we eventually had to "release" her to return to her family. I feel she makes such fast friends w her renters I would expect it's a common problem for her!
The only problem we had during our stay was getting comfortable in the master bedroom the first night. I think we've become so comfortable on our K bed at home that it was hard to downsize there to the Q or Full, not sure. In addition the mattress was too soft for us. However, by night 2 we saw where we could push the two twins together in other bedroom, place large blanket on top w/sheets from Master bedroom, and wahlah! We had a K bed after all, w/firmness we needed. Evie mentioned people do this on occasion. Her only request was that we had things pushed back and in order as before, before we departed. And we did.
Even though our son has transferred and moved on, something tells me my husband and I will be back. I hope so. That little front porch swing is calling. Thank you guys for sharing your sweet little house.
This delightful, beautifully decorated cottage is the best accommodation we have had on any holiday! We felt comfortable as soon as we walked in the door. It had everything we needed - very comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen (including a dishwasher,) laundry washer & dryer, excellent TV with an abundant supply of movies, comfortable couch, WiFi, eating area, good closet space, great supply of towels, extra blankets etc. a large, fenced back yard and ample parking space for a car on their driveway. It was within walking distance of a good grocery store and pharmacy and within easy driving distance of all the places to visit.
We did not lack for a thing! What topped it all was the helpfulness and warm friendliness of the owners. They gave us information on places to go, directions to beaches, sights to see, museums to visit and places to shop and eat and a great Church to attend. As well they supplied maps, brochures etc. in the cottage A delightful family. and excellent accommodation - both of which we would highly recommend to friends and family. Pensacola has so much to offer to visitors - a fascinating history (take the Beach Bum Trolley ride - excellent guided tour),lovely downtown area, great restaurants (our special night out was at The Fish House - outstanding meal and a gift of dessert to celebrate a birthday!), Krispy Kreme Donuts was high on our list too! The Cordova Mall was a wonderful place to shop and eat. All in all, everything that helped to make this a restful, interesting,
delightful break from winter in the north!!
