we are originally from Hamburg/Essen Germany. We lived for 37 years in the State of Washington. After retirement we needed more sunshine and found our little paradise in the little 'cosmopolitan' town of Tubac.
My husband's hobby is a garden train. And he will let you play with it !
We do love meeting people.
Heinz Hohendorf purchased this bungalow in 2005
We chose this town after coming for four years in spring, enjoying the sunshine and wonderful climate and flowers, but especially meeting the wonderful people of Tubac.
Watching sunsets from the roof top with a drink, we say
'When the mountains turn pink, it's time for a drink'.
Sitting in the spa at night and watching the stars or even meteors. There is also a G-scale garden railway.
Tubac is a special place in the Sonoran desert about 45 miles south of Tucson AZ. Gracious and friendly people, shops that offer unique products from elegant mesquite furniture to distinctive southwestern art. The best way to experience Tubac is to stay in the casita offered by Heinz and Gisela. Located just a few minutes from shopping and dining, the casita offers visitors comfortable, quiet and cozy accommodations that invite you to relax and recharge. We have stayed in the casita many times during our visits to Tubac and had the opportunity to meet people on our morning walks and marvel at the inspiring views of shadows drifting across mountain slopes. The casita is beautifully appointed and private as well. After shopping in Tubac, return to your casita and take a refreshing dip in the pool!
Ditto all the previous reviews! Friendly and inviting owners. Perfect casita.
My wife and I stayed for a week in Tubac. The owner gave us a helpful overview of the town and surrounding area, advised us on what to see, where to shop, etc. Though the weather was fairly cool, we were able to get out and hike and to visit the local galleries. High points included a visit to the desert museum near Tucson, seeing Xavier mission, Tumacacori missions, Presidio and art center in Tubac. Best of all was getting to know our wonderful hosts.
A well cared for and maintained casita! Lots of extras that make the first day to the last comfortable and welcoming. Overall, a warm and relaxing place that is due to wonderful hosts, Heinz and Gisela. They are very open, friendly and thoughtful individuals that made our stay cozy, and easy - even with dogs. The Tubac townsite with its many restaurants and artisan stores are nearby and there is hiking and golf in the area. We will be back!
I concur with what many of the previous reviews stated. The property met or exceeded our expectations, and Heinz and Gisela were very accommodating, affable and not intrusive. They were wonderfully welcoming of our two dogs. I especially appreciated that the casita was stocked with various basic items that I forgot to get at Trader Joes before we arrived. We'll be back!
The listing described the location quite accurately. My only concern in booking was whether there would be excessive noise from the interstate which is between the location and the town itself. The sound of traffic could be heard while walking my dog in the neighborhood but we did not even hear anything while at the casita.
The casita met or exceeded all our expectations from the listing description and photos. We were considering having a third person stay with us but she cancelled out. We concluded that the casita was a bit small for a third person and would not have allowed for much privacy for them. It's perfect for a couple however.
The casita was very clean, well-maintained and the owners were very friendly and informative and gave just the right amount of attention (exceeded our expectations).
We highly recommend this property for the below purposes. We have been making annual visits to Tubac for a number of years now and love the town with all of its shops, art galleries, and good restaurants. We also love the day trips for sightseeing, birding, hiking, and a bit of adventure (try Ruby Road as part of a circle trip when visiting Arivaca).
